A user asked how to morph a few shapes together for 3D printing. After looking at the part, here is a simple solution to Make useful parts for 3D printing FAST using Tinkercad. In Tinkercad, you do not morph as much as grouping and cut parts out with holes. It is pretty easy to make useful things to 3d print with these basic skills though. I have 0 knowledge about AutoCAD, but I know what it is for. I'm a 3d printer beginner, and I want to learn to design my project so that I'm not taking somebody's design. By watching this, I feel confident that I can accomplish that hehe

I have used solidworks and even fusion 360, tinkerCad is limited in a way but your video makes it seem easy and doable, thank you. I see now the limit comes by our own imagination. Great video.

I came to this video to learn how to make this literal vent adapter for a inside AC unit. It was a garage sale find but they didn't have the equipment to hook up to the window. 300-400 dollar unit they thought was junk, sold for 45$ and all it needs is a 3in vent outside lol. Will be duplicating and printing my own before too long :D

I had previously used Solidworks but chose to use TinkerCad because of the very simple approach. I made filament prints for work because big and blocky were okay. But I have been able to design very intricate scale model railway models for resin printing and I am astounded at the level of detail that is captured in TinkerCad. Thank you for this tutorial!

Nicely done. Trying to leverage TinkerCad more for my 3D printing. I used it originally to rough design the inside of my van conversion laying out all the cabinets, seating and bedding!

HL you the man! I'm new to 3d printing and was having trouble with some hydroponic grow towers from Thingiverse. I knew what I needed but didn't want to spring for the software and after hitting dead ends with Sketchup I found Tinkercad is free and import export STL is free, great but I still couldn't fix the leaks until I found your channel. This vid is getting bookmarked and revisited for sure. I thought I'd be able to just modify portions of the STL in size but after learning from this tutorial I realized adding to the existing model was the way to go and did so successfully. I'm subscribing and looking forward to going through your channel. Thank you!!

@@HLModTech I know you are an 8th grade teacher but I will be 59 this year and was looking for easy to follow tutorials to learn this remarkable software. I have 3d printed for 5 years and never learned tinkercad to do much. I can now make personal things other than using other peoples models. I wish I had been able to learn this in school when I was young.

This is one of the best videos, it shows how to do so many things in one video, I wasn't aware of the auto centering, I wasn't aware you could choose wall thickness, I would do a solid object and copy and paste and make the copy a lil smaller and turn it into a hole for a cylinder, but how do I get a true round object, seems all my round edges become flat the bigger the cylinder I make,

awesome video man! you helped me a lot designing my first thing in cad. i have a question though im working on something that needs precise holes for mounting a light into. its a simple design just a flat square with 4 holes in each corners for screws and a large circular hole in the center for the wires to come through it but i need 2 holes on each side of the larger hole perfectly spaced so the light will mount to it.

Thanks for the kudos! Sounds like the ruler tool is what will assist you most. I usually skip it and use nudge. As a math teacher I just do the math for the location... I will see if I can whip up a video to add precise holes this morning.

@@HLModTech Haha, I suppose so. It does seem like you have put a ton of work in your channel, you've got videos to cover pretty much anything. For me this one video is what has made me dust off my printers again and now I'll start designing some much needed parts. I bought my first 3D printer (Anet A8) back in 2016, added an Ultimaker 6 months later and an SLA printer after that. They have all been collecting dust in a shed since I have been busy with other interests. But it's time to blow new life into them. Thanks again.

Excellent video for learning Tinkercad. I use Fusion 360, but my grandson wants to learn to design things too. I really was not sure where to start with Tinkercad until I saw this video, so thank you!. I also saw your video on creating a youth login, which will be very handy. @@HLModTech Thank you! This all started when he (7 yr old) wanted to make something to go with an existing wood toy from Home Depot. I showed him how we need to first measure the existing toy using a digital calipers. The next morning he had everything measured and drawn on paper by the time I got up! I don't know where this will go, but I will try to keep challenging him. So we may need your creation ideas!

This is a great video. I have two changes to this exact item but don't know how to do it. How do I make the base into an arc so that I can attach it to the side of a bucket? How do I rotate or slant the tube portion of this so when I connect an inlet hose to the bucket, it creates a centrifuge to rotate the dust on the way in from the vacuum...(bucket dust collector attachment is what I'm trying to make). Any help you can provide would be great. Thank you.

Great instructional video! A question regarding outer wall thickness: I designed in Tinkercad and printed, essentially, a funnel to replace the original poor flowing one on my aquarium gravel vacuum tube. It's sort of 3 pieces grouped together. I made the walls 2mm thick for strength and made them 2mm in the slicer. Yet the first one, when I dropped it, it came apart at the joins. I ended up putting 4mm rings at the joins to ensure that didn't happen again. Is 2mm about right? Is it common for such things to be weak at the joints? I used PETG - 235' nozzle, bed 70'

Thank you. The 2mm in the slicer will not grow your model to achieve that thickness. What it does it take a part that is solid in your design and print it with 2mm walls. A great question. I think I ought to make a video about it. Thanks for the nudge. Adding the rings in those areas is pretty slick. It is like adding a fillet for strength. 👍 Thanks again for the reaching out.

Tinkercad does not have that feature. Some shapes have their own bevel, but there is no way to "soften" something you have grouped. The programs that do have that feature cost $$$ and have a bit of a learning curve.

Why was the hole cone added underneath the solid cone? Was it to produce just the cone shell and get rid of the inner part of the cone?

Yes. That slope allows you to print it without supports too.

Just got my first 3d printer and having a good historical knowledge/understanding of Autocad and SketchUp thought it would be a relatively simple step up....I'm only a dabbler and so now only use the free version of SketchUp for modelling onscreen. I've only just discovered that what is, and looks like, a perfectly solid group is actually not (SketchUp) and that to locate and rectify was, for me, impossible. Also I then discover that the ability to save/export an stl file has be removed and placed within the paid version which is way above what I need and could justify paying. Having previously used Tinkercad to teach a young child basic electronic circuits I then, very briefly, tried the modelling tools and immediately thought it was way too simple/basic for what I needed (I wrongly believed Tinkercad was a school tool for youngsters because I hadn't given sufficient time to look around the GUI). I was left thinking I would now have to learn Blender from scratch which deflated the hell out of me.....whilst browsing for relevant YT blender vids one of your 'titles' grabbed my attention and, well, here we are.....just goes to show how easy it is to completely miss the value of something because of the absence of a simple introduction or guide. I have a quick question for you. Do you know how to make a pool adapter for a summer wave above ground pool to fit an intex pool vacuum? I believe the hoses are 1.25 inches to 1.50 inches. I also have a picture of what I want to replicate if you need a reference.

How do you make a beveled edge on a rectangle that is 1/4" thick?

I would make the rectangle 1/2 inch... bevel that and cut it in half with a hold block that is 1/4 thick. When grouped you will have a flat bottom and a total of 1/4" of material.

I have designed a mount for a PCB, however, I want the boss's that the screw goes in to be printed as walls all the way down to the bottom of the base it is on so that they are not just printed on top of the support, how can I achieve this?

Hi,, I have a question; what do I do to make an object scalable? What I mean is if I want to design something that I want to make in different scales , do I draw or design it full size or do I have to do separate drawings in each scale?

Fusion 360 and TinkerCAD are owned by the same company and the controls are effectively the same, but Fusion360 is a much more powerful tool

Local library will let people print stuff. I found an stl file on myminifactory of a horse and jockey but would like to increase the thickness of the base before printing to make it a little more stable and bottom heavy. The library said I can use tinkercad to edit it but every time I try to open the file it says file size is too large. Any ideas?

First, are you sure your printer is calibrated to print perfectly? None of mine are... so I use a bit of Kentucky windage when I am making a part. Secondly, make sure you avoid the handles while using parameters. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fOCSaLx6mdvacXk.html

Great video that's helped me massively but I'm still stuck. I'm trying to create a duct reducer for my laser engraver to extract fumes more efficiently. My problem is going from a round 80mm duct down to a low profile rectangular duct approx 15-20mm high. I've tried Free Cad and On shape but I think they're a bit to advance for a newbie like me. Is something like this possible ? With a 5mm intake slot on the front of the rectangular shape.
