Its not impregnable. Impregnable means you can't get in (as in "she cannot be impregnated"). Inescapable is maybe the right word.

I don't think you understand the level of criminal they're talking about... IRA men... Multiple murderers... gangland bosses... The type of man who could have your home address within hours and know where your kids go to school...know your work address, even the layout of your house... It's not unknown for prison officers to be followed home... it must be lovely living in your world, but in the gutters of this country there are real predators who have no value for human life, especially if you get in their way. They have control because of who they are.

With the IRA making that ladder type thing, it goes to show that no matter how good the prison is if staff aren’t doing their daily checks in cells which were mandatory when I worked as an officer and having staff so easily coerced into doing what they want to make that escape easier is just insane.

I've spent the grand total of 6 weeks in prison in my life ( I'm 43 years old ). 4 weeks in Brixton as a sentenced prisoner ( a 3 month sentence ) and 2 weeks on remand in Thameside, next door to Belmarsh. One was a private prison and the other wasn't. The difference between the two was crazy. Thameside was the private prison, ran by Serco. It was like a holiday camp!! Phone, computer, television in your cell, along with your own shower and toilet in the cell. Brixton wasn't private and compared to the other place, it was like going back 50 years!! Compared to the blokes on this programme, I was in for no time at all but the difference between the two prisons was what struck me.

There was two guns in Wandsworth for three years, the problem was bullets believe it or not, the screws heard the rumours and it kept them in line, the guns where taking out of the system on a visit, also in Brixton there was armed escape in 83, a political soldier or IRA has an army to help. Villians only eachother and they talk to much. Also zip guns that fired 22 round was popular but they had one shot, usually blew up on a reload.crazy world hidden knowledge. Peace and best wishes.

Michael/Micky Steele of the Rettendon Triple Murders/Range Rover Murders used to be a customer of mine. I worked at a Towbar and trailer centre in Essex and he used to come in there plenty buying all the parts for the boat trailer he built himself (he and Whomes had extensive engineering backgrounds, MJS Engineering i believe was Steeles company?) That boat trailer was needed to move the boat he used to bring drug loads across the channel. I think we even supplied or possibly even fitted the towbars required to tow the boat trailer. In the book Bloggs 19 it is mentioned about the gang trying to get a towbar for a Jaguar that one of them owned but were put off by the price of fitment, WE used to deliberately overprice Jaguar towbars due to their complexity. So i dealy with Steele plenty of times in the 4 years i`d worked their before Steele was arrested, i never remember Whomes. Steele always seemed like a good bloke, well spoken, older and built like a rugby player.

Thank you for uploading this documentary Ricky I have a few suggestions for you ! Maybe make a video on what a 5 man lock up is and why and when it becomes necessary for the most violent of prisoners ? Also can you do a video on how inmates shave with blades and what about barbering services in prison ? How does this work ? Have a nice bank holiday weekend mate Regards

Back in the 90s an actual outside barber would come in every 6 months but since then prisoners have been allowed to have clippers so either you would have your own clippers n shave your own head or someone who could cut hair would use his clippers to be the wing barber and charge ppl

I've always believed when being sentenced for attempted murder the sentences should be higher than for actual murder. Attempted just goes to show you couldn't even get that right.

Who says you attempted to commit murder though ? The law ? What you’re charged with doesn’t always reflect the crime commited. You’re last line was once said in a joke by a comedian, come on now..

Well this is just a quick one. I was living in residential care for five years because I couldn't and wouldn't live at home. I and many other teenagers would become violent and paranoid because we were living on a knifes edge. Some staff I wish I could see again, others I blame for having a humiliation kink. This is a weird comment I know but the short of it is when I watch prison docs like this I feel somewhat better about myself and can relate to some of the emotional and physical hang ups that come after release. I was never in prison but have been diagnosed with complex PTSD as a result.

Take each day as a possible start to a kinder life, I lossed ten years in one lump I was twenty, I came out angry but I met a beautiful women with a beautiful mind and she loved me. I hated myself and nearly had a breakdown, but life was kind to me I just didn't deserve it, there's some who will never forgive, I await them with kindness or the sword, you seem switched on. Your gonna be fine young one, kindest regards.

why are they saying on here sex offenders are in danger in prison? they arent, they are segregated, no regular prisoners interact with them. whatever stories you think you heard they never are mixed in with general population. the only way they ever are is if they apply to join the general population. the general population will never have access to sex offenders in general.

And to the combatants on both sides it seems like last week I dream about it a lot. I was in a phone box in paddington phoning a contact when I heard the news that a ceasefire maybe coming I was in shock and walked out of phone box and was knocked down by a car. Friends removed me from hospital 2 days later. Funny I was happy it was coming to an end but I was sad because it was part of my life for so long

12 February 1996 An auxiliary prison officer was last night being held hostage at knifepoint by two inmates at top-security Whitemoor jail - the scene of the IRA break-out two years ago. The officer was seized at about midday as he patrolled the Cambridgeshire jail and late last night the prison remained on a state of alert as negotiators sought his freedom. The identity of the two prisoners is not being released, but one of the prisoners is said to be a high-risk category A inmate one of them was a friend of mine

I know the bloke that had the brickwork contract for Whitemoor, surprised it hasn't fallen down. Remote fens, its on the edge of the town of March. My sons football team used to play on a pitch next to the walls when they played over there.

Very well produced documentary: factual, informative and devoid of glorification. The ex-prisoners, particularly Smithy, could probably run a prison better than the Prison Service. No one is worth giving up on and throwing away the key. Shame the same effort wasn't put into rehabilitation of the ordinary criminal as was put into deradicalisation of religious terrorists.
