Good on you! And I say that without any of the trolling or snark that the internet is famous for. I worked in Frankland for 4 years as a psychiatrist. Trying to understand prisoners is some times more difficult than psychiatric patients. The hard part with helping prisoners is they've done really bad some times evil things but clinically they are not insane.

How do you tell if someone is insane though? My mother was a respectable, presentable, sensibĺe schoolteacher by day. By night she came home & repeatedly brutally beat me unconscious, left me laying there sometimes for 18hrs, used me as a skivvy, never said one kind word to me despite all the work I did to help, (which I did willingly as it made sense to me,) & tried to get me involved with men 4-5 times my age from when I was about 12. Eventually she was taken to court by parents, after beating up their daughter in her classroom. But she still continued to teach for some years as there was no law at that time which protected children from violent teachers. With what I have learnt now it is clear she had Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I also believe she was a psychopath as she repeatedly risked killing me by being so violent from when I was a baby onwards.

@@00700556 possibly I would and I apologise as I meant no anguish to anyone’s family with my comment. But there are always more than 2 sides to a story. And for the most part the correct people are in the correct place.

@@sarahwestwell8774I fully believe criminal justice shouldn't just warehouse convicts, especially those with short to medium sentences. If recidivism is to be reduced, those men and women need the opportunity to learn a better way to live. This way they don't get dumped in society and victimize someone else. I don't believe in "soft on crime" bullshit. I believe in preventing more victims in a meaningful and evidence based way.

I can't imagine being in jail. I am on of the lucky ones i suppose i have been on heroin and alcohol since i was about 18 i am 36 now and i am about 1 year clean but somehow i never ended up in jail. The worst i got was a 12 month supervision order, 1 month curfew then had to go back to court and got a £980 fine then another 3 month on tag. but I had a good mother and sisters behind me though which i imagine many of prisoners will never have. I try to see the good in everyone but nonces, and rapists and terrorists can fucking rot in there. Glad to see you are fighting fit Ricky and doing good. I have been a sub for a while and i think your video's and others like Shawn Attwood and Yammy and yourself help me loads because if men who have had IPP's can turn your life around then why can't i? For breach of probation after getting that for theft and shoplifting for money to get drugs. Heroin and crack. Thankfully I got on a methadone programme and had help from family and close friends. Still on methadone but its been 8 years since I was an active drug addict.

For most of these prisoners -- all of them, probably -- it is not a question of "a few second of madness" but of a deliberate and planned attack on other people.

It's all relative. The US is more violent than England in general so it stands to reason the prisons are more violent. That's a bad thing BTW not sure why you think it's a flex. Half of you yanks are scared to leave home without a firearm. 😂 Lovely place.

I recently came accross this documentory about HMP Frankland .There are a few things that need clarifying Ricky . Yes I was a prison officer at Frankland and it actualy opened in 1982 as I was one of the first 30 officers to commision Frankland and to make sure it was secure to house inmates . Initialy Frankland was not secure and many changes were made untill 1983 when the first inmates arrived . Then there were 4 wings a sportsfield which now has extra wings built on it and also the gardens where inmates grew their own veggies and a gymnasium . It also had an induction unit kitchen and education center and of course a seg unit . The regime in those days was mainly relaxed but if inmates stepped out of line they were dealt with , But there were very few incidents in those days . Over the years Frankland has deteriated through security and staff under trained . A true statement made by my old chief officer was . Some officers i could decorate and others i could burn . I will add that Frankland only had 2 landings per wing and not clips from the likes of Durham , wandswoth . and Hull . There was an old saying and very true . That was if you treat an inmates with respect then respect is retured . If you treat an inmate like an animal then you will get bit . I have dealt with many inmates over my service and just as bad as the modern day inmate CatAs long termers and R43s and over 18 yrs service many famous names . It is a good feeling to realise and reform as prison life is no comparrison to freedom . This year i will be 80 and still fit and it also makes you realise that many staff and inmates alike are no longer with us . .

Yup here in Durham we get all the nasty shit and its utter chaos when these inmates have hospital appointments or are admitted and they are in a ward where a relative is. Bloody annoying trying to visit when theres armed guards, helicopters etc all over. Then again on the bright side it did see off the Yorkshire Ripper heres hoping it gets the rest.

Far too lenient and friendly hotel for these monsters. They need extremely hard labour under the worst possible conditions for 18 hours per day and 365 days per year to pay for their far too comfortable hotel room and excellent food.
