Hi Matt, I saw your video and was really sorry to learn about your experience. In my opinion both the watches look franken (Black and blue dial pilots). They might have the original case and movements but the dials are clearly repainted (probably an old white dial janata watch reworked to look like a pilot). Its unfortunate that HMT does not ship its watches outside of India and thus people living in foreign countries rely on online e commerce portals to get HMT watches and end up having similar experiences.

Thanks Vishal, HMT does make chronograph watches but with a quartz movement these are available though far and few in the HMT showrooms. HMT Jawan was re-released about a couple of years back but it is very difficult to find it with dealers and at showrooms. Except for the name i have been told by the HMT watch company officials there is nothing military about these watches. The arrow mark on the case back that is often seen on Jawan watches is an aftermarket etching that is done by re-sellers to make it more attractive and military type to the innocent buyers. They often repaint the dial of other mechanical HMT watches and put an arrow on the dial for the same reason and sell it as hmt JAWAN watches. Hope this helps.

Yep, watched it right after my comment :) . Actually, m not able to set time on my Pilot by rotating the crown counterclockwise (hands move clockwise), crown comes loose. Have to set time backwards (hands move counterclockwise) , any idea what the problem could be ?

It's difficult to comment about the availability of watches.

The lum dots should look like droplets of water. It must not be flat. And it must have INDIA printed at the bottom of dial along with movement numbers. Example - INDIA 0231

The classic HMT black pilot with hand applied lume has been phased out. HMT has introduced a New black pilot with printed lume. You can buy it from HMT ltd website. They get sold out very quickly so you need to keep checking to see if it's available for sale.

The latest pilot watches have components procured from the market. - Dial ,hands and cases. These dails have machine applied lume while the earlier ones were applied by hand. Due to this the font and lettering looks changed. I personally prefer the earlier one's but i do have a few recent coloured pilots and they are not bad. Considering the state of the watch division unit it's nothing less than a miracle that they are still able to offer watches to customers.
