Demonstration of a British-made HMV 102 portable gramophone with HMV 5B soundbox and medium tone needle. (The record is Jack Hylton and His Orchestra performing "Forty-Seven Ginger-Headed Sailors" on a British "His Master's Voice" record - B5542, recorded September 21, 1928) and medium-tone needle. Note the auto-start and brake feature - very clever design. I find it interesting that this machine was in production for so long - 1931-1960.
