The railroads on the move, hope the new location gets you back in action. It would be a shame to let your beautiful railroad just sit.

Thank you for the updated Ken, can't wait to see the station get finished down the line. It's all working out great and now that it has it's own space I think you'll be able to get more work done on it when your day job :) slows down, thanks for filming it for us!

Enjoyed. I started about 5 years ago and took everything out of my garage. Patched and repaired all the walls. Painted all bright white to brighten everything. Everything then got "wheels" so I could move and clean as needed in the future. I had old cabinets that had stuff in them, but I could not get to them because of all the "non-movable" stuff in front of them. Not anymore, all cabinets gone. Build steel cabinets "lockers", from Sam to clean things up. I recently had to do repairs on the broken garage door spring. I was glad things was movable, I replaced the springs, rollers, brace, bottom seal, upper 16 foot bar. It needed some attention and I was able to get the job done. Once again this winter I can get my car inside. Still deciding what needs to stay and what needs to go.

Ken welcome to the hobby and I enjoy see you learning about model railroading. I would like to make two suggestion for your layout. One, install more electrical power feeds for your track, especially in the tunnel. Two, divide your upper and lower loop into two separate power districts so you turn the power off and park a train while running a train on the other loop. If you get a second power pack you can have two independent trains running at the same time with interaction on the common track. Good luck on your adventure.

Well, yours is pretty nice but I think your neighbor upstaged you. Personally, I think going “life-size” was a bit much on his part. I do have to say that his train horn trumps your wooden one though, lol. Your layout is beautiful and I look forward to seeing the effects you can create. Remember, getting older is inevitable but growing up is optional. Have a freight day! (you see what did there?) 🥸👍👀✅ 🚂 ❗️

Ken, if you’d taken advice at the early stages and put a central access hole in the table you can reach everything much more easily from the centre and have the massive advantage of being able to push the table up against the back and corner wall. This would then give you two sides to build mountain facades against those walls and paint a proper landscape background to match. It would take up far less space that way and look far more impressive overall. Trust me, it works!

Thanks. I might just consider that. I still have a place to cut in a hole

Such Great ADVICE this morning for you. Build a nice upstairs for you and the trains. I 👍agree 💯 percent . You know much better than I. The room looks to small. How can you get a group of me folks around the table to see and play❓❓❓ upstairs you'll have sitting area with frig/stove top, Al's ☕ Coffee ☕☕ counter etc. Plus you'll need a wall size t.v. screen to watch your train and sports. This way you'll have more room in the garage to buy some of the tool's AL had you using. L.O.L. plus, you know a KREW to help you build up stairs for you. Need no stairs, make a train pulley system to bring you all up. Fun to dream on your 💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰☕☕💰💰💰💰 CiAO ENJOY hockey time is coming soon.

Ken... Suggestion on your "Green Screen" for the new location. Firstly, you have a lot of "green" rail cars and trees that will be "bleached out" on a traditional "Green Screen". Use a "Blue Screen". I did this for my son several years ago when he did stop-motion Lego set-ups. Secondly, make the interior wall (train side) from sheetrock and make the seems very smooth. they make special paint for Blue/Green screen applications. Pricy at about $50/Gallon if I remember correctly, but it lays up great and will save you the aggravation of trying to get the cloth flat when that heater is blowing on it. I'm here in Vermont too, down in the mountains of Lincoln/Bristol. Wish I have the money to have you guys build me one of your beautiful garages. Your workmanship is beyond reproach, and you good humor and friendly nature is worth every minute I send watching your various videos. Brian F. Lincoln VT

Ken, I have watched 20 videos all this afternoon and have commented on most videos. You have a unique skill set for the hobby. I also so love your enthusiasm and Joy! I am also new to the hobby and having fun. I splurged and got DCC so I have train sounds. I am in Nebraska and live less than 50 miles from one of the top 5 largest train stores in the nation(Spring Creek Model Trains). They are worth checking out. Anyway, am looking forward to more vlogs and seeing what you do with the layout!

I am Southern railway from 1827 to 1982. My layout is been taken down for relocation. The layout is 8 feet by 40 feet. I am going to make the Saluda grade in 2% grade not 5% which is the true grade of Saluda. This was the steepest grade of mainline in the country.
