@MiracleFound3 жыл бұрын
They have to maintain order and discipline at work. As a nurse, we cannot deal with our feelings at work. People suffer and people die, it is 100% about them (the patient) and giving them your complete attention. It is exhausting and at the end of the day their isn't always enough left for you when you go home. Some people bury those feelings long term instead of dealing with them. Hoarding is a symptom of deeper things. Do you think that it is easy to watch people suffering and even die? You do everything you can, but it does stay with you, especially abuse and horrible diagnoses. I remember specific patients from over the years and it still hurts. I am not a hoarder, but I can see how it could happen.

@@verolly31 I dont think it's cause they think they should be perfect but because as a nurse or a doctor or anyone that deals with people or sick people you should have a good or clean house because your house can make you sick if your a hoarder and it can become a biohazard and if your tired when you come home you want to have a clean bed and good place to cook not sleeping on the floor cause they can come work late if there tired and then they won't get that good of a payment and if they make the patient sick they can get in big trouble

It's worth thinking about this story through a socio-racial lens... My mom is brown, fairly dark skinned, and she's always been particular about how she looks when she goes in public. Not because she wants to be seen, but because she doesn't want to be judged. She used to tell me that people like us (not white) were judged harsher for wearing sloppy clothes or looking dishevelled. I used to think that was dumb, but it was only when I grew up that I realized how much less racism I faced compared to her every day as a very light skinned brown person. I find myself wondering whether that's why Luanne said what she did about her family believing that you should look your best whenever you go out in public. Nice, clean clothes and high fashion could be the difference between good and bad service, kindness and rudeness, or even safety and danger. I can't imagine that feels good... And it definitely brings the issue of the effects of systemic social racism to light, in my opinion.
@enikata73493 жыл бұрын
It's ridiculous how we can judging people based on skin colour or clothes. The content of your character is more important than what you wear or the level of melanin in your skin.
@demetradecember2053 жыл бұрын
This what my mom's friend from Puerto Rico told her. She couldn't let her sons go out in public with ripped jeans or old t-shirts. She was always ironing their shirts and mending their pants. She told my mom that rich kids could get away with torn jeans and sloppy t-shirts, but if her children didn't look impeccable it could mean the difference between getting a job or being treated poorly. I never forgot that conversation.

That's a shame. I'm from the UK, in a rural area, and racism is much less common here, I truthfully don't know anyone personally who judges people harshly based on their colour. (Most people just don't really think it matters what colour you are, if there is a reaction to someone's race it's normally curiosity). What I, and many people, do find shocking though, is a man who would openly and repeatedly cheat on his wife - a governer of all people, who should be a pillar of the community - a minister's wife who would run off with someone else's husband, a woman who would pull a knife on her neice, or anyone for that matter, over a trivial annoyance, and actually boast about having 'cut' people, and a mother who would announce to her vulnerable daughter that her grandparents didn't want her around. There is so much here that shocks me to the core, and the fact that these people were the governer's family, and should be the cream of society, just makes me wonder what on earth the rest of the town is like! I can't really comment on what it's like there, but here, people do judge others by their clothes, because they judge people based on their culture and behaviour and the way you present yourself is the first clue to what sort of a person you are - it's like a badge. Your manners and the way you speak and act are just as important. Your clothes don't have to be expensive or high fashion (in fact, obviously flaunting money is considered classless and a bit obnoxious), people don't care if it's thrifted, but the choice of style matters. Manners, ethics and education are valued more highly than money or success. I think a dark skinned lady who looked classic, or arty and bohemian, or just like she was wearing sensible work clothes, and had pleasant manners, would have a much better reception than a white skinned one who looked tacky or was loud or rude, even if she was wearing a fortune in designer labels.

Just like Tammy Slaton, she doesn’t hate it enough to do anything about it.

Are her nails supposed to be like that or did she just let her nails grow so long than the press-ons just went outwards with the new nail?

Looks like press ons growing out for about 6-8 weeks

She is correct in saying that when you go out in public, you look your best. A lot of people look like slobs or something that crawled up out of the bog anymore.

When I was a child in the late 1950's I remember our babysitter (for the 5 of us) came by bus, she was always dressed up, but then would immediately change into work clothes for the day, and then change again into her dress clothes before leaving. It's a good memory...

Sometimes back in the day and even families have difficult things to face and a child being brought up by a friend can be the best of 2 bad options. As long as they can reconcile now that is the best that can be done ideally with the evil sister out of the way. I hope she can keep it clean now - it look s lovely

Would be a good idea to spend money on having some dental work instead of clothes.
