This Hobie Pro Angler 14 was fitted with an Expandacraft 12 foot outrigger kit and a 3.5 HP motor so the owner could take his wife out for a ride, go fishing, and be able to motor at over 6 MPH with no fear of overturning. The basic kit is $560.00 but this client also added two deck planks for $75 each and two extra runner rails for $30.00 So what you see there is $740.00

It will go faster but not much more than 6MPH. You can get the same speed from a 2.5 HP motor.

Does it have to have the deck or can you leave it open?

You can buy whatever individual components you like. Most of the expandacraft boats are client built and designed

@@Expandacraftboats I guess I worded that wrong does it have to have a deck to make it stable or is it not required will work fine with a motor without the deck(rigid wise) Also any plans to come out with a camo color to match the Pro Angler 14 in the video. I have a 2018 PA14 and would love to install this on my kayak any installation videos on this setup? Thanks

@@texasmainiac5757 the craft is stable with or without the deck planks. I sell a bunch of these Outrigger kits two guys with Hobie PA 14.

A smaller engine than 2.5 hp won't work with the current. You have to be on a similar set up with the current in open ocean or in a channel in the keys or everglades..... I mean just a couple of miles from the coast on the Atlantic side of Florida could easily be 5mph, less than 2.5hp won't get you moving against the current and worse if you are against the wind.

Tomas Escobar a 1.5 will do the job, however the 2.3 Honda or the larger 3.5 will do the job at 1/4 throttle. It's just a matter of how much you can afford. I will say that a 5 hp motor is ridiculously overkill.

I think Steve from Key West Kayaking does it with a small trolling motor. No way he uses a 5 HP and he’s does it all. Ocean fishing, channel fishing and mangrove.
