Facts. I do appreciate though that the NHL isn't getting out over their skis too far though. Expanding and pushing too hard too quickly could be a recipe for everything to fall apart. Like Gary said, they're in a fantastic spot right now, keep it moving, but you don't have to go full throttle and screw it all up either.

It makes me happy to see hockey is finally getting the respect it deserves on the biggest stages. For so long, it was like the long-lost stepchild of sports. People knew about it but didn't talk about it or watch it, and that has all changed. Hockey is more than a sport, it's a brotherhood.

@@kingha88 adding on to that hockey in canada is literally like football in the states in a lot of ways at least it was when i grew up in the 90's and 2000s and all the time before that so it's pretty awesome.....but northeastern usa there's a lot of love for hockey it's awesome how it's a bit niche in the usa, that's honestly never going to change....not to get to weird but it's why culture in general is actually heavily based on actual climate and weather and history.....Australia had the biggest rugby league in the world, it will always be that way...bringing more people into the mix absolutely awesome though.

@KT22672 I'm kind of in no man's land with a team to zero in on. My best friend is from Minnesota, so I've been following the Wild a little. West Coast teams start so late that it's hard to stay up for the whole game. I like the team in Vegas, Minnesota, and I'm trying to catch the St. Louis. They're kinda close if I wanted to call them my "local team". The Minnesota fans I know have forbidden me to root for the Stars because of how they were pulled from up there down to Dallas. Just soaking it up trying to learn the box scores and the game in general. Go Penguins haha

@@jeffreycairns767 Bettman doesn't have authority over player punishments, those are under a separate commission which is run by George Parros, I'm not sure how much influence Bettman has on Parros, if any. I don't think games are rigged, I'm not gonna say they aren't but it's important to note that the NHL legally brands itself as sports competition, meaning it's illegal for them to rig outcomes. The NBA and NFL however brands themselves as sports entertainments, meaning they can legally get away with rigging so long as they're careful with their advertisement products. I do think Bettman has been dreadful when it comes to marketing until recently. He's got a lot of make-up work to do in that department.

@seegee9 What do you mean, how? A ref can easily make deciding factors. Ķicking motion, off-side, goalie interference, another penalty, net dislodged, are just a few ways to disallow a goal. There are lots of ways that refs can control a game, giving 1 team the advantage. It's the same as umps with the strike zone and others sports' refs that get all the say. Fans booing or that disagree with a call means absolutely nothing. It's fairly clear in most games, who they've decided is to win. There's other things too, not just the final score

@fernandoabarca474
@fernandoabarca474 3 ай бұрын
Different types of factors and products Why you dont get the football passion? In football, The CFL is a whack league next to the NFL where is more profitable, generates more ratings, known worldwide (really doubt anyone outside canada and the us would know at league a team or knows a “grey cup”) therefore, its more attractive also college football is big, don’t think Canada has big names college wise o a league that equals NCAA If you had a league as close as the NFL i think you would show your passion, but even Canadians get free NFL games on CTV and no CFL with that being said, the answer is obvious one is more attractive NFL is easier to understand next to the CFL and football here can be played in any weather when we know both sports are expensive. the season isn’t as long as hockey, and you know Americans dont like low scoring games (eg soccer, hockey) But what about hockey? Well as you know we got 5 plus leagues here where as Canada maybe the NHL is the only league that has more presence in other provinces in canada (next is the MLS, but you guys are still years light to become passionate about soccer, even here in the US we been more interested over the last decade) Then your weather allows it, you guys maybe have 2 and 3 month if you lucky of summer and then the rest of the year is cold which allows the practice of the game Even here in the northern states, it gets warm in later april early may to maybe late september october that is somehow a long summer. Over here the stanley cup rarely gets attention, I bet you for sure if the final was edmonton vs toronto People here wont care So if you guys where saturated by other sports or have professional leagues that equals the level to the ones in the us. You will understand it, and this is coming from a hockey fan

Gary: Give Pat some money and encourage him to do even better work than he already is doing. Don't take advantage of his generosity.

Bettman bringing up expansion without really being asked about it... He's all about it.

Bettman does a great job playing the villain role. He's done a great job of fulfilling his mandate, growing the game in the US. Whether he's the man to take the game to the next level is another matter.

Bettman is delusional for saying that Arizona just needs a new arena, they had an 19000+ seat stadium and got kicked out because they couldn't sell enough tickets. I love hockey and there are a lot of cities that hockey would be good in but Phoenix is not one of them; in my opinion Bettman should just give up on Phoenix for now because of the lack of interest, try to get them moved to a different city like Quebec CIty or Houston and then maybe try to go back sometime in the future. Similar to what happened with Winnipeg, the jets left and then a new Jets expansion team came in a few years later.

@ 7:00 The Vancouver Grizzlies never stood a chance. They deserve the recognition and a real opportunity to have a team back in the NBA.
