I think they did a good job porting it but some of these scenes are absolutely a testament about how badly Nintendo's hardware needs to be updated at this point

Ports like these are always so fascinating to me, to see all the cut-backs necessary to get a game like this to run on under-powered hardware. Always impressive when a developer manages to pull it off.

Its always so interesting to see what needs to happen to make games run on lower hardware. From a graphics perspective, hogwarts will pass if its the first version youve played and know what to expect from a switch. But from making the game run, its really cool to see the difference, but all the while still being the same game.

I kind of like the way the switch version looks. It takes me back to the early 2000's when I wished for a Harry Potter game like this.

The biggest difference is in the details in the open world setting where there is a lot of vegetation and trees, other than that, I didn't think it was that bad, although the difference is clear, but we have to take into account the hardware of both, it is an incredible feat to run in this quality on the Switch

Reminds me a bit of the HL2 Xbox port. The hardware is way below the specs to run the game, and it doesn't look pretty at all. But somehow it runs competently and retains the foundation of the visual presentation, against all odds. This might be one of the most impressive ports so far.

Oooof for the lake water, but overall an impresive port. This guys actually managed to cram a next gen game into a 6 years old tablet. Props to them. I guess that it's still a better option to play the next gen version, but if you only have a Switch and want to try the game, the port is a good buy.

The colors look so dull, it's almost depressing. Static lightning would've improved the visual quality so much, but instead they went the easy route and just turned off everything that eats performance. Just compare it to Witcher 3, it's like day and night.

I’m playing this game on my series x for the first time right now and it’s blowing me away. All the attention to detail that was put into it shows how much the developers love and respect the source material. As long as the gameplay remains fun Switch users are in for a treat. Graphics are second to gameplay in my opinion.

Cool but I really wish you would have show other key locations, like the 4 common rooms, the map chamber, the room of requirement and its biomes, maybe even the house elf kitchen.

I actually really like the Switch port. It reminds me of the games I used to play as a little kid. Back when videogames truly felt like videogames, and nobody worried about how realistic they could possibly get before wrecking the hardware.

As impressive as it is, this looks like a PC game from 2010 at times, especially in the first shot with the Farming Simulator 9 water. But it's good that those who want to play it but only have a Switch are also able to play it now.

I downloaded it on my Switch Lite and I'm enjoying it so far. It really doesn't look too bad in handheld. It's passable. Actually remarkable that they were able to do this.

My favorite console is the PlayStation 5 mostly because of the exclusive games but I believe if the Nintendo switch had the same hardware as the PS five Sony will definitely have their work cut out for them. can you imagine a Zelda game with the graphics of Final Fantasy seven that would definitely be 90% of the gamers dream.

It's like looking at a prequel vs a sequel, but credit to the team for releasing a playable version on switch, I'm sure if they released it when they were supposed to, it would have been another cyberpunk incident.

I really have to say I expected this game to get a cloud version for the switch because I didn't think they made it runable on the switch, so I am kinda suprised by how it runs and looks, I mean its not looking great but I really didn't expected it to get anything besides a cloud version

The switch version reminds me of the OG Harry Potter games on PS2. I’m mighty impressed they were able to do something like this, but I think that the Switch version should only be played if a switch is your only option. 😬

A lot of issues I've noticed on the switch could be fixed with time. 1:57 + 3:54 - The water fidelity could be increased by rendering more defined ripples in smaller bodies of water and in closer proximity towards the player. 3:56 - The tree on the left just needs to be remodeled. 6:26 - They could replace the texture for the tree buildboards since the ine theyre using has a black outline. 9:07 - I think this was intentional, but a lower poly count model can be used instead of completely removing a part of the castle. 9:33 - It seems like instancing isnt working as well so they could just use billboards for the farthest candles and switch them for instanced candles when extremely upclose. 12:39 - the pop-in is really noticable specifically with the trees shown in this part of the video. The best option is to have closer trees switch models off-screen and when the player gets really close and can only see the trees. bark. If the player continuously looks at the same tree and looks at its leaves as they're running towards it. I would find a way to gradually transition the textures. 15:25 - weird glitch It seems like the devs had a deadline to reach, which I understand. 14:47 - Something I noticed: The PS5 has weird artifacting/aliasing on the tail of the dragon.

This made me remember the PSP ports back in the day

It's not just the graphics that're different. The dialogue is different in some spots as well.

The difference is astronomical. Bigger than the pre release material suggested. Which was all carefully selected and none of it was open world stuff.

If this was most other Switch ports, all you would need is Mr. Jameson's laugh or the 66p patrick dancing to Soulja Boy meme. This is an impressive porting job!!! Avalanche dedicated the year to making this game run on the Switch, and they made it work and made it playable!! It isnt the prettiest experience, but I am so amazed I may pick up the Switch version just to support the work the team devoted!

The Switch version really shows how busy the visuals are on PS5. Developers have gone all-in on throwing as much detail and effects at you as possible without really considering the visual readability you have when you're actually playing the game. I wonder if the gaming industry will ever get over this obsession with attaining photorealism and realize simpler easy to read visuals are actually better for gameplay.

crazy some parts look better on the switch, i think its due to how they change the style to cover the limitations like they did in the old days, the dark lighting makes it feel like a dark fantasy game which actually fits the HP franchise well

Truly is day/vs/night.. I been a PC gamer for a long time. Recenty, I'm unable to afford a new PC. I own a switch. I'm just glad the game is even released with the switch. I admit, I'd prefer a beautiful setting like on the ps5. But I'm jst happy I can play it atm.

For those who can’t afford all the consoles and chose the Switch as their one and only console, it’s not bad. I played it on PC when it first came out but some friends only have a Switch. The game is so good that I’m encouraging them to get the game.

omg they even needed to add something for the bridges at hogwarts so you cant land on them because hogwarts has to be loaded seperatly, i mean cool that they did that to make it playable but at the same time it changes even interiors and the outside then what you get on the next gen consoles. i hope that the switch 2 wont be a dissapointment and will support better graphics.
