Love my new Srixon zx. Feel 10x more confident with that off the tee than with a hybrid. Always hook or balloon my hybrid, not confident with it at all - now it's out the bag and the Srixon is in there. Looks amazing, feels amazing, fires straight.

I'm a hybrid kinda guy. I carry a Rinky and a Power (21 and 16.5 respectively). One of my buddies let me hit his old school cavity back 3I bent a couple of degrees strong. I hit it pretty good off a tee. I wouldn't cry if I were to win a driving/utility iron, wink wink, lol. Seriously, I have room in my bag for another club because my iron set is 5-PW, SW, and GW. I currently carry 1 hybrid (20*) that is primarily for getting out of the rough or really long par-3s. That being said, 25 years ago I almost exclusively teed off with a 2-iron before there was such a thing as a "driving" or utility iron. Loved being in the fairway most of the time, and even today on short holes I hit my 4-iron as much or more than my hybrid from the tee.

Hybrid player but playing golf from the late 70s I used too love my 1 iron which was normal back in the day so I’d love too roll back the memories. So fingers crossed I win! What a shot by coach great hole in one👍 it took me over 30 years too get my first one since then I’ve had another two all in competitions all with different people and all on different courses! Just saying 🤷‍♂️

Couldn't agree more. I've been happy to see Mark's attitude improve a lot recently however this felt more like the 'Mark of old'. What should have been a celebration of a great mate's achievement was turned into an anti-climactic almost 'sour grapes' moment.

I carry both a hybrid and a 1 iron.... Depending in the lie that I have... I spend a lot of time in trouble... I even use the 1 iron around the green to "put" across rough, and I actually get good results,

Mark, the reason that one would choose the Long Iron over the Hybrid (broad brushstroke) Depends on your swing. Those of us who play an upright swing (two plane) like Jack, Payne or the Watsons come into the ball steeply and can hit it all day. we are not always as consistent with the hybrid. Rotary swingers (one Plane) can sweep fairway woods and Hybrids all day. For myself, being left handed, finding one is a nightmare.

I'm one of those "big old burly's" who can't hit a hybrid for toffee. Finally taken it out of the bag as it's a card killer for me. So I have a bit of a gap now. These irons interest me, would love to game one and find out. Congratulations on the hole in one, Coach. Great too see.

I'm a long iron player. I have a Taylormade P790 UDI which is 17 degrees! I don't hit it off the deck very often because of the low loft. Mostly use it off the tee on short par 4's.

Hi Mark, fun video. Fellow instructor and Srixon staffer here and added an 18* Zx a couple of months ago to my bag. Almost instantly replaced my Adam's red 18! Which I found to be one of the best hybrids I've ever experienced. I feel that I almost can't miss the zx and I can really vary the launch quite a bit and it's probably about the same as the red but that was a fairly low hybrid. I just feel like I have a lot more control. Btw have a steelfiber i95 in S and am carrying it in the 235 to 245 range with avg rollout right around 250-255... took a lot of work to do that with the red as consistently and it would often spin the ball up a lot more into the wind which made it hard to control. I do agree that the average player should stick with hybrid but more so because of the wider sole help than anything else. Absolutely love the zx! Haven't hit the cobra but imagine it being very similar, though have hit some others that in my opinion don't come close, at least for me. Great video!

‘HOLE IN ONE BABY’ I’ve always used a hybrid, or rescue wood but have never tried a Driving Iron. I used to play long irons but loved the feel off Hybrids. I now play Srixon. Z irons.. and love the feel of them, so it’d be interesting to try them.

Just switched form having 24 and 21 deg hybrid to having 22 deg 4 iron and 20 deg utility. It definitely does require me to improve my strike but the flight is more stable, especially into wind. And I fully eliminated the odd hook out of the blue. But there are definitely days where i need a solid 200m into a par 5 and I know my old 21 hybrid wound nail it, but I feel much more stressed with the utility. Congrats to Matt! Brilliant video.

I tried and failed with driving iron. I game a 5 wood, not a hybrid, seem to snap hook it. Love my 5 wood, longer shaft and bigger surface area. I can hit a 4 iron like a driving iron anyway. Great review chaps.

Hole in one! I’ve got a 19 degree hybrid and a cobra 4 utility iron. Best of both worlds, iron of the tee on tight par 4, hybrid off the deck on long par 4’s and par 5’s 👍

I use both. I'm a terrible wood player to the point where I took both the 3 and 5 wood out of the bag. I use a 2 iron off the tee and a 3 hybrid into greens.

HOLE IN ONE BABY! I carry irons down to 3 iron for the simple reason that, for me, ripping low irons is the greatest feeling in golf.

I'm a hybrid player out of the deep ruff . mid ruff I use Irons . When i was a beginner I bought a $14.00 Alien 16 degree driving iron . Just for hitting off or rocks tree roots and deep ruff . Used it so much I dented the face in . I remember the first time I was in the middle of the fairway . I had a small panic attack .. OH NO Short grass ! How Do I hit This ?? LOL. I'd like to try the new Long distance irons . Love your videos . Keep Them coming . Bruno

I have the cobra 2 iron in bag set at 16deg, i use it for teeshots for 1st few holes of a round - most forgiving club in bag. Can hit low or mid shots, and easy to hit a low draw that runs 240y. I never miss hit this club like i can do my driver or woods.

"HOLE IN ONE BABY" Currently using a 3 iron, I've been looking into getting a utility/driving iron. My bad shot is a hook and I just always find with hybrids I'm pretty much nailed on to hit it left. With the less offset of a long iron I feel much more confident that I can hit the fairway/go for the green.

My longest actual iron is 6 now. It's a power 6 at 25* but then go to a 23 hybrid and 19 driving iron and a 5 wood. I score on par 5s. I wanted more options at the top of the bag. All three clubs go about the same yardage but get there in very different manners and I don't have to do anything different.

Had a Cobra King Utility 4 on order since September and still waiting. Hit the older one, and really liked it. Loved the hole in 1. I have only 1 with my good friend, and never again. Maybe the Cobra is the answer.

I have both a Hybrid and a 2 Iron (non utility) it’s an old Wilson blade that I love. I hit hybrid when I am approaching or on a long par 5, I hit my 2 iron on windy days. I naturally hit the ball higher than most, so keeping the ball down is what I love.

Hole in one baby - unfortunately I’m both 20 deg Ping G410 Crossover off the tee and 21 deg Titleist H1 from fairway and rough. Like the Crossover for low punchy shots when in trouble as well. Great shot coach, really think you should keep the club as well as the ball 👍

I recently converted to Hybrid 3, 4, 5. The swing and distance is almost effortless. My mishits are maybe 2 yards off. The adjustable iron is the future of all high end irons

"HOLE IN ONE BABY”. I've not done any tests similar to this, but I think I'd go with the hybrid more times than not. Although I probably have the speed for a utility iron, I think the hybrid would give you more options and be more forgiving in general

I'm using TaylorMade Rescue 3 and 4-iron equivalents and Srixon Z-U85 utility irons to replace my 5 and 6-irons. So I've sort of blended the two at the upper end of the bag.

HOLE IN ONE BABY. I have a Cleveland Halo hybrid and absolutely love it. Did get a UDI but it’s a lot harder to hit and control. Always love a challenger though.

Just bought a hybrid after trying both. Love the utility off the tee but as a cost prohibited golfer a hybrid covers more shots and makes it worth the investment for the number of shots I use it in a round!

I currently have both a Cobra utility and a Srixon H85 hybrid. Use the utility when hitting shots into wind seems to perform better for me.

I used to game a ping 1 iron. I now have a 20 degree hybrid which I have a lot of love for. I do like the look of these utility irons. Especially if they launch lower as I hit it to the moon!

great vid guys. I carry both a 17 deg p790 UDI and 21 degree Titleist Hybrid for all the reasons outlined. If I want to go high and landing soft it's the Titleist. If I want to go low with now spin its the 2 iron. This setup cost me a wedge but I wouldn't go back.

Currently have a hybrid in my bag, but barely use it - very interested in a driving iron, however, as I recently got fitted into the SIM Max Irons, and their lofts are strong and I've been tweaking my swing to fully take advantage of my irons. Great content!

Hole in one baby... I am a 18 handicap player and have both hybrid and long irons. But I chose to use my mizuno mph5 2 iron because I don’t feel comfortable with a hybrid!!!
