This is so cool. Has my creative wheels turning. Thanks for sharing this. Thanks for sharing all your awesome art. I am a sucker for vintage papers and odd things. Maybe I can do something with them.

My hubby has that tool...he never uses it, but after seeing you make these awesome works of art, I just might claim it for myself. Thanks Greg!

Greg I love your work. I love how many things you use from recycle centers, the dump, etc. and you aren't adding to the mess on the planet. I love that your work is original and nothing like anyone else on youtube. A true artist and inspiration. I wanted to thank you so much for the introduction to this tool! I'm adding that to my wish list because, also being an assemblage artist, I have been looking for something a little less dangerous than a razor, and more powerful than a dremel, I think this is it! Thanks for sharing, and showing a demo.

@ht1type Thanks! The objects are "layered" which allows for that dimensional look. I do use hot glue for a few things, but my favorite is clear silicone.

Very Creative!! Would be interested in your placement of items in the shadow box to achive the 3D effect. You really don`t need a backer board to mount your wall hardware, the hard back book cover is just that, hard and rigid. Would also make your large book project lighter. FYI hot glue is amazing stuff, I use it for temporary mounts with wood turning, the strength and shock resistance is excellant. Great Idea you have here!!

You can buy little "rusting" kits at Michaels Craft Stores...they may even sell it online...a two part solution that you apply to get rust.

The caulking tubes of silicone can last several days depending upon the work that I'm doing. My work ranges from about 150 to 600.

I agree clear silicone is good stuff, along with thick super glue & carpenters glue. I use hot glue mainly as a quick anchor point since it`s molten plastic. I must give your idea a whirl, Steam Punk I think, perhaps Jules Verne... full speed ahead, steady hand!

Hey Greg..Love the project. When you put the screws thru your frame what did you use to hide the screws on top of frame ?..Did you fill in with dab of wood filler and sand ?...Just curious

Very handy tool for this project! I am curious as to Why you bother to add the piece of wood to the back of your projects? Why not just attach the hanger to the book jacket so you don't add weight to your projects? Also, what do you charge for these amazing art pieces? Thanks for sharing & keep on creating . . .

Saving the papers aren't you? My artist husband would advise you, from the voice of experience, to use a vice and perhaps some gloves when cutting the books!
