Holland America New England Cruise | Halifax Nova Scotia | Boardwalk, Poutine, Cows Creamery

Recently we went on a Holland America New England Cruise from Boston to Quebec City. I made a playlist for each day on vacation. Today, we are in Halifax, Nova Scotia! What did we do in Halifax? Well, Halifax has a very nice boardwalk to walk on. It is quite a long boardwalk and full of shops, food and entertainment! We did stop by Smokes for some poutine. We also to Peace by chocolate to check out their assortment, as well as Cows Creamery, since it is noted as the Best Ice Cream in Canada!
We also went off the boardwalk to a place called Freak Lunchbox to check out what freaky stuff they may have!

Well, I got the blueberry is Halifax, even though it was called PEI Blueberry. Apparently they have a Cows Creamery in every port, Halifax, Sydney, PEI, etc.... AND I think I mention it in my PEI video (that hasnt been released yet) that Cows started there. So, I think Im on track, LOL!!!!

Too bad the weather was not a bit sunnier for you guys and thankfully it did not rain really hard like. I do kind of like that overcast and foggy effect look. I think seeing fog over the water like that can be really cool to see. Too bad that Lunchbox did not have some better energy drinks for you to choose from. I know Canada has a bunch of laws about how much caffeine they can put in their drinks and can't have as much as we can in the United States.

The fog was a cool effect but we didnt expect it to be so hot and muggy in Canada. I wasnt expecting to find too much interesting in Canada in terms of energy drinks given the laws and regulations but was hoping to find something!

I guess lunchbox got into some hot water for selling energy drinks that went over the caffeine legal limit right before you arrived lol

I cannot believe I missed you during your trip. I live in Halifax, seems like you had a good time! I will admit, the rain and dreary weather has been a plague for us all summer. I am not sure if you are aware. Health Canada has recalled countless Energy Drinks for not having bilingual labelling and “health risks, high caffeine” 🙄. This has impacted Reign, Ghost via specialty stores, Alani Nu, Monster (who cares) 😅 and many others. Not sure if you ever wanted to cover this subject. However, I already have seen Reign being pulled from store shelves being filled in with duplicate monster SKUs, understandable as it is the same company, but shows the recall is being taken seriously by those with no knowledge of the category. The primary cause as I know you are aware stems from the Prime Energy fiasco. Now many wholesalers are afraid to bring in the Ghost and G Fuel products. Canada has gone nuts! Also, it’s shameful regarding our selection of Energy Drinks. We truly only have Rockstar, Monster and minimal Reign which is now recalled.

Thats too bad!!! I actually made a community post asking if anyone know of good places to stop in Canada...but KZfaq isnt that great about passing out the community posts! I did hear a few things about issues in canada with recalls on energy drinks but never had a chance to look into to, so its good to know. In a future video, I was able to find some drinks in Charlottetown.

Sorry for my late response. I hear you, I missed that community post, however to be fair, there really is no where local to get your hands on quality energy drinks. The spots you hit, were the most likely to carry the US options. Freak Lunchbox, did carry G-Fuel and Ghost for a short period of time but at a whopping $6.99 to $7.99 per can. I am assuming they delisted due to health Canada throwing a temper tantrum about Caffeine. Circle K (Couche-Tard) would be the only other spot. They tend to carry Prime, 3 or 4 Bang 180mg, but other than that, it’s your standard Rockstar and Monster skus. My wife went to the US so I had to re-watch your legendary historical videos to get my CF Man Rating chart in order. Sadly, she went to Bangor so the Vitamin Shoppe selection was subpar I’m told. Got some winners like Bucked Up, Redcon1, Ghost Sour Strips. Guess I will need to drive 7 hours to Bangor for future restocks ;).

Glad you got to pick up some new drinks though. It was a real shock to see the lack of drinks in Canada, besides Couche-Tard and I actually found a place in Charlottetown... but can't remember the name. Its in that video though.
