The only reason why people are jumping on MCC instead of Infinite is because there’s tons of content. Just like if the full game of Halo 5 was released on PC with Cross Play turned on with console players. People would definitely jump on their because there's tons of content that Halo Infinite just doesn't have.

Not true, I'll go back to mcc bc the games feels better and the design is so much better than infinite. Infinite is just a very badly designed game. there is a lot of content in mcc, but that is not the only reason. Halo has fallin bc of 343.

Great video as usual buddy! As a creator from Asia, I can confirm that PlayStation has dominated our continent. Quite frankly I think Asia is a key market that 343/Microsoft REALLY need to tap into. A continent of over 4.5 BILLION people can really boost interest in the franchise if they play their cards right.

Jump ship and get a Steam Deck, and/or a mid range pc. Both are far cheaper in the long run since you aren’t paying a subscription for online multiplayer (your Internet bills cover that), and you’ll spend far less on games thanks to numerous Steam/GOG sales. There’s also ROM hacks/mods, and emulating old games.

If Mcc gets announced for PS at the event in a couple weeks i just hope that means they go back to working on Mcc until the next game is out, have Mcc be the bridge game again with a huge new player base to work with and continue support with that. There's still plenty they can do and people want from Mcc. I would honestly prefer more Mcc content instead of them just shitting out Infinite events. Do these last couple confirmed events for Infinite and maybe one last big hurrah update and call it good imo.

I personally wouldn't call it bungee vs 343, what that 343 was trying to be so different from bunzy they got rid of the fundamental aspects that made Halo a household name and fun to play the pre and post game lobbies proximity voice chat and veto are specifically what made Halo what it was then. With the pre and post game lobbies gives you the ability to socialize and show off your armor what's the point to calling these armored cores epic and rare when no one can't even see that unless they look at the individual armor pieces on their end on their free time 🤦🏾 And in the same breath they remove proximity voice chat making it the least sociable Halo and you have to manually turn on open mic just to communicate with your players. I personally never cared for the competitive scene and especially the Esports so if they focus on those two aspects they're easily going to lose me and probably a lot of casuals 🤷🏾‍♂️

while, id rather not have the xbox die, for nastalgia reasons, and for well, competition is really fucking good for an industry. You absolutely do not want a monopoly in an industry. Thats what happened in the 70's with the video game crash. But that being said, I do think it would be better for the game for halo to go multiplatform. i dont even think the numbers would double, i think the mcc would have the first few months numbers. though, i think it would drop just like how it did a month after the game came out, just because well, lets face it. These games are old man, people just dont want to play old games. the newest game on the mcc is over 10 years old. the game isn't dead, its not like you cant get a game. but if you are doing something that is more niche, like trying to get an oddball game, or CTF or whatever stuff that isn't popular. then yeah, you will have a harder time getting a game, but thats when you put something in the background.

Xbox has been dying since the Xbox One reveal when they shot themselves in the foot. Now it’s a rapidly sinking ship. The ONLY way I can see them turning things around are if the rumors about Steam/GOG/Epic Store integration is actually real (although, in that case you’d be better off just getting a pc).

Short answer, no. Long answer: There's a large quantity of speedrunners and people doing, as you mentioned, "re-playing campaign". Why Halo Infinite lost players: There's nothing to play/no content. Contrary to this belief of "seasons", that is not content. People who stuck around, did so for Ranked Arena until they were bored, of which has seen (again) another grey remake, of which is one of the more recent maps to date and is (again) less of a fun map to play. Needless to say, no amount of "social", "casual", "cosmetic", or "community" can bring players back to a game, when they had zero interest in any (and I mean any) of those things to begin with. How to bring people back to Halo Infinite: You gravitate the focus around the core FPS audience of Halo, that definitively means a more competitive focused audience, targeting multiple ranked playlists, not one (and certainly not 'social'), you make the Skill Rank the Progression solution (and the exp solution is required to tie into this after, determining it's critical to have a high skill rank to max your exp rank), and you focus around balanced, fair and equal competition with skill being the determination of a win, not luck, not "imbalance for fun", or whatever the community thinks (which has pushed millions away from these games). June 9th. What to expect: - Halo Infinite's "future"; Consolidating "social" into a singular playlist, a Social Match Composure, thus permitting that "this is the only location for community". - Halo Infinite's "future", A move and shift toward Competitive FPS, and the roots of Halo's matchmaking dynasty from 2004 - 2010, with a focus on skill rank and ranked playlists, not social. - Evolution of Tatanka revealed, which is in Infinite's Engine (as it always was), as this holds a soft reboot & name change for the entry, providing "infinite" as the game for the social matches. - Halo's Spinoff Campaign, done in Unreal Engine with partners at Epic, not following the Chief, but instead an ODST story. Not a multiplayer game (in traditional Halo multiplayer sense). Expect that spinoff to be the game going to PlayStation, as it's already clearly established that Master Chief is the brand of Xbox, thus they would never put Chief on any other platform that isn't owned by Microsoft. You should expect the same for Cortana. MCC is sunset in later development. I suspect the only reason people "think this" is because they're puzzled around why 343 would make a new Halo game to release it on another platform, when the reality is: "Because the TV show". The typical market for a PlayStation game isn't a competitive one, it's traditionally non-competitive, third person, action-oriented Role-Playing Cinematic games, usually tailored around graphical and texture quality. None of this is traditionally "Halo", and Halo would require a more realistic approach to make it popular on this platform. This is where Unreal Engine comes into play. But it won't just launch on PlayStation. Epic Games Store is another large target for Microsoft post that acquisition. As obvious, CoD has the ending showcase because what 343 has to show isn't something that requires "in depth" showing. This isn't "the next Halo". The one is a spinoff, the other is the evolution of where we are today (as a soft reboot) to bring players back to a once beloved highly competitive fps, turned into a "casual shooter" because community brought it there. If no one, besides a few thousand people, enjoy such antics as "causal social shooter" (something Halo never was), then unfortunately that means "In order to get people back, you have to be a game that the broader audience wants to play". Come back on June 9th to yell at me if I'm wrong. Here's my typical rant section. As the problem that exists in the Halo Community is that they're oblivious, usually to common sense. What was Halo's role as an FPS in the past? Nostalgia is one hell of a drug, especially if you're nostalgic for a time before you were required to even do Home Work. Halo 2 paved the way, not just for Social Connectivity with and against other players, creating friends and various networking constructs, but for the FPS Genre in general. Halo 2 pioneered "skill" matchmaking into FPS games, along with Skill Rank for "visible sbmm" matching & skill progression. Halo 2 pioneered how every developer works with "esports" organizers, and Halo 2 paved the literal way for Competitive FPS games, from communication, to social networking, to matchmaking and game balance. These introductions in "Social" features became standard on the Xbox 360, and Xbox wanted Halo to reword their "Training" nomenclature to "Social" in order to adhere to the same semantics. Halo's "Social" was, indeed, a place where looser skill matchmaking existed, but that doesn't mean "no sbmm" (Halo created this in the FPS Space). You only matched within a parameter of skill, and your skill was defined per playlist. Halo 3 pioneered the entry by introducing a map level editor, something other FPS had that Halo introduced. Halo 3 introduced a new structure for separating playlists based on their serious level. Ranked for low stakes competition (8 playlists) Social for no stakes competition. (4 - 6 playlists) Hardcore for tournament level competition in low stakes format (numerous playlists here too, 2 - 4 on average) For comparison, Halo 2's playlist structure was like Halo Infinite. Except, 14 of the 16 playlists were ranked on average, with some playlists shifting to unranked, or being added later as unranked. Halo was never, and I repeat, never popular as anything the "community" has wanted. A large problem with this narrative is that it goes against youtuber content creation, and thus people dislike hearing this, however if Halo Infinite was going to be successful as a social game, it would have been at least 30 times by now. But it wasn't going to be...since the nostalgia bait wasn't geared toward Zoomers. It was geared toward people now 30+ years of age, who are grinding Valorant or Counterstrike 2, or apex/fortnite/r6/ow, what-have-you every so often in order to rank up their skill level with friends. Halo was the "Skill" game. It required you to shoot with a precision weapon, when no other game had precision weapons as default starting weapons. It required you to use decision making across the game, not "choose easy weapon and press button". It required teamwork and independent problem solving to tackle complex situations that feel impossible to get out of, including coming back from a 1-flag CTF when you were spawn killed a dozen times by the enemy team. Halo was "the" competitive shooter. Halo Infinite is symbolic as to why you can't have primarily a "casual" Halo game, and expect it to do well. But we already knew this. From Halo Reach. From Halo 4. And we learned this from Halo 5. But 343 didn't do it because they thought it would be profitable. they did it for "the community". Turns out, the community didn't even want what the community thought they wanted. Go figure?

Snorlax. You know, history and perception is one important topic that a lot of people adjust to fit their skewed perception of reality. On November 15th, 2021, Halo Infinite's Multiplayer launched with critical success and critical acclaim. Millions for the first week jumped onto the game, on Xbox & PC, to play predominantly Ranked Arena. Most tried the other playlists (bot bootcamp, big team battle, Social Arena ('quick play'), were not fun, nor traditional "Halo". these were methods of playing that were iconic for why people disliked Halo 4 and Halo 5. When you gloss back to November, 2021, and even December 2021, a large problem players had wasn't just the weapon balance (which pressured most weapons to be stronger than the BR, unlike previous/classic Halo), but also the lack of "Halo" playlists. The moment 343 added "more" Social playlists, the games population started tanking. Many, even on waypoint, reddit, youtube comments, asked "Where are the other ranked playlists", with the community always jumping to the same "there's no population for ranked, ranked is super sweaty and no one wants to play that, ranked is boring and its not fun and filled with fun". Meanwhile, the game gravitated almost directly in line with that "community member" who would direct people to believe those things. No matter what "social"/"community"/"casual" idea came out for Halo Infinite, it didn't bring anyone back. No matter how much "armor" was added, how much "customization" was added, no matter how many "forge elements" were put into the insane forge (due to the incredible power of this game engine); All of which is directly to say: If people wanted this, they wouldn't have left continuously, over and over again, every time. The largest update in player count we had was when they added the Bandit Evo into Ranked Arena. The fact we (the community, not this creator) gloss over this (constantly) is more of a telling as to why the game keeps failing. It keeps failing because it delivers to no one besides a small group of people who refuse to play it because it's "too sweaty", while they ask to keep removing skill restrictions in social (thus creating an even more imbalanced environment). From November 2021 - December 31st 2021, the problem that pushed people away from Halo Infinite was the lack of "ranked" playlists, thus permitting to no variety and thus making this a "no content" problem. In May of 2024, Halo Infinite Ranked Arena (and the rotational ranked playlist that no one knows when it occurs because it's broadcast on social network rather, rather than the multitude of other ways that this could occur) is the only ranked playlist, and the only playlist that respects "Traditional classic Halo", even if it's still not even remotely classic Halo. Of course, people want the battle rifle, or the dmr, to outpower everything, intentionally, because that's Halo. Of course, people want balanced maps around control, rather than "ease of access" because, again, that's Halo. Of course, they want a skill rank associated with every playlist that they play typically because, again, that's Halo. What isn't Halo is the Communities skewed perception on the series, which in turn, translates to this belief that "Halo Infinite failed because it got all of what we have today too late". If that was the case, then millions of people would be on Halo Infinite today. People do not act on a belief that "if it wasn't there day 1 then I will not play it". That's just not normal behavior lol. People aren't fanboys, nor are they obsessed over small intricacies of semantics or deadlines of something they aren't typically going to spend their entire life playing. The only people who care "that deeply" about day-1 are the ones who care about the game succeeding immediately due to number comparison. At the end of the day, we've watched numerous games across every genre come out poor at launch, and a year or two later, boom. From Fortnite, to Valorant, to Overwatch, to Apex, to Rainbow6, and even to basic games like Sea of Thieves and Among Us. All it takes is what "people want" in the game, for people to want to play the game. If people wanted to play it, they would. People "wanted" to play Halo. But instead, we got a cluster of "social experiences and non-competitive concepts created by the Halo Community, with Halo Community centric maps and modes collectively in every playlist besides one". No one thinks that's fun lol. And the glorified Ranked Arena has slowly taken hits in player counts. Still to this day, ironically Ranked Arena still sits as the most played playlist (despite losing half it's players since even April). We can't claim people actually wanted Forge, or firefight, or infection, or whatever social playlist people describe as being "iconic" if people aren't actually playing them when they launch inside of the game. If people thought they were iconic, they would be playing them. They're iconic for quips on KZfaq to create content for non-informative audiences, who wouldn't play Halo anyway, to say "This is what Halo needs". The audience who believes that Halo Infinite was going to be successful as a "competitor to mario party" is the audience who wouldn't have even played Halo. And that's where we are today. 343 has tried "everything" the community wanted, up unto the point where they kept seeing so much time invested with no return on this investment. It's time for them to shift gears and go toward the finish line, rather than at the starting line because "halo youtuber says halo should have launched with warzone, firefight, spartan ops, invasion, assassinations, playable elites, playable grunts, even easier firing assault rifles"; Because you know...that's why Halo was totally successful when they did those things. (not). Not a shot at Hollowtide, more of a "History is important, we need to stop rewriting it to fit a narrative to create youtube content" notion. Hollowtide simply reports on whatever is going on, kudos to him for usually keeping it real with his audience, at the very least, he's an honest individual and honest content creator.
