Turn on CC!
On 3/29, Kanata went to the hospital for two days because of her ear disease. This clip was taken from the first stream she did when she came back on 4/1.
Please note that I am not fluent in Japanese. The subs in this video are the result of me translating a video with Chinese subtitles into English, so take them with a grain of salt. Despite the fact that there may be inaccuracies, I think it's too big of a shame to just not show you guys how Kanata feels about her situation.
That said, please do tell me if I translated anything wrong. Thanks!

When I see clips like these, I am forced to believe that YAGOO did not make a mistake when choosing people for HoloLive. To me this is what truly defines an idol. Putting all the superficial stuff aside, all that’s left is a pure hearted person who’ spreads positivity and genuinely loves what they do . No matter their upbringing or current circumstances. They generally love the people who support them. A perfect representation of a true idol

It is possible to sing or produce music while deaf, just very difficult. There are colorblind artists that currently exist, but they can only do digital work due to memorizing HTML color codes. If you had a visual monitor of your own pitch then you could sing to some degree. Keep in mind Beethoven was partially deaf most of his career and was able to compose.

Although I have tinnitus (constant ringing in the ears), I have done hearing tests several times now and have been to several doctors. Even though I don't have hearing loss (fortunately), it's very annoying to hear a constant ringing noise even when it's dead silent around you to everyone else. None of the doctors know how to cure it :( Hang in there, Kanata!

Fellow tinnitus victim here, been in there for 7 years in the right ear. My brain usually hides the whistling most of the time unless I'm under intense stress or exhaustion, and the whole panic I got with it gave me hypocondria. My advice, get a healthy sleeping schedule and try to keep your environment as least stressful as possible! Maybe one day, science will help us to hear what is true silence again ;)

I feel you man but you will overcome it don't worry. Just like I did. When I got tinnitus I was insanely depressed and suicidal, rushing from doctor to doctor living with a false hope that it will go away. After some time I realised that there is no cure and I just stopped caring, accepted it as a part of me and Iam honestly fine now. Allthought my tinnitus causes my ears to be extra sensitive so I cant go to concerts or parties I just got over it. TIme really heals, now I forgot what silence is but I don't miss it, it just doesn't exist for me anymore. Tinnitus won't go away but if you accept it and stop thinking about it things will get better. You will get over it friend stay strong :)

if im correct about her identity, it's meniere's disease. Huey lewis has it and he managed to keep on performing until 2018, so i think we all can be positive about this.
@_car5323

In some ways Huey Lewis is a good example, and in other not, he has been hanging on for decades with only one good ear and tinnitus but the Ménière’s damaged his hearing in that good left ear, as well as the other effects (vertigo, distortion that increases with volume). Certainly he is still fighting to get back to live performances and music in general, but the album due this year is all with vocal recordings from before it developed _in 2018._

You like Huey Lewis and the News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

I've noticed this, too. Ayame and Miko have chronic illnesses that require them to take time off. Korone has a speech impediment. Many of the girls have pretty strong social anxiety, too. None of these characteristics are the recipe for a successful career in entertainment, yet they have all been given a chance to really flourish in spite of those issues. some people have put forward that she may have Meniere's disease which afflicts the "middle" ear and current medical sciance belives is because the fluids in the middlee ear are an off mix or have some kind of containment. the good news is that it rarely migrates from one ear to the other since its focused on a very specific part of the sufferer's ear. as for quality of life with the condition: if she wants to she can use a hearing aid for her bad ear but outside of that she is already doing what can be done to live with this in her case: living at Holohouse. By living with Coco, suisi and any others who move in she has a solid support network who can be there for her if she falls do to a severe dizzy spell which is a documented symptom of the condition. this is really important because these falls can resualt in serious injury. I spent three years living with a family member who suffered dizziness spells that bad and I had moved in so he would have someone to call for an ambulance if he fell and hurt himself (which he did once, i could see bone through the wound on his head).

I was expecting a happy end where the disease was cured afterall. What i got was a real life story of someone picking themselves up off the ground and getting back up despite their disease. Thats an angel, alright.

I think I have the same ear disease with her, mine is the right ear, but it was decided by the doctor since I was born that maybe I will lose my hearing through my right ear in early 20s, and yes, it's happened to me recently. Still accepting but sure it's hard to bear at first.

So what if she's got a problem with her ear? Beethoven went deaf too late in his career and that didn't stop him. I'm glad Kanata has the same determination to keep doing what she loves (and so do we) instead of giving up. May she lead a happy and succesful life so that when the end comes she will look back at everything fondly.

I have tinnitus so I can relate to her, although I'm not experiencing hearing loss that constant ringing really does become a part of your life so it can be pretty stressful living with it but like Kanata said it's possible to live a normal life.

It's trully depressive to a music fan to have problem like that... Luckily, it's only in one side, and Beethoven still composed music even though he's deaf, so keep it up PPTenshi!! We will support you no matter what

I've always wondered why I hear like some microphone ringing in my right ear every few months or so, turns out I have an ear disease all along? In my book, it occurs totally random, afaik. From a few days to a few months, and last from a few seconds to a few hours. I can ignore it usually since the ringing is subtle and can sleep to it(thankfully), but when my ear is in the ringing state, I only understand what people are saying if it's clear/loud or they're near enough to bypass the ringing. I didn't even know It IS actually an ear disease until I've watched PPTenshi talking about it in this video. I usually thought it was nothing to worry about.

Don't forget Kanata, Ludwig van Beethoven performed in public in multiple concerts while being partially deaf and after he became completely deaf he still wrote his 9th Symphony afterwards and part of it even became the Anthem of Europe. (It's ok for someone to take that and send it translated to her if somebody wants to, I don't understand Japanese.)

I feel like it's still better than having it in both ears. Imagine how devastating it would be if both her ears were contracted with such a horrible disease. Seems like her blessing as an Angel hasn't left her completely. Probably, when the disease completely sinks in, she'll have to retire but until then, i'd love to hear PPT sing as much as she wants to.

That is super rough. I have a friend we used to know who had this save thing and it drove him up a wall tot he point he couldn't sleep right for a long time until he got help. This isn't something that stops after a time it is constant 24 hour ringing.

That's really rough if it's Meniere's disease. There are a lot of conditions technology is working towards being able to bypass, but there may not be much available for inner ear conditions, especially without invasive surgery. Hopefully a breakthrough is made in the next few years and she remains stable in the meantime.

Aww, our cute angel shouldnt have to suffer from something like this! What did she do to deserve that, God?! But seriously, I can sympathize with her situation because I'm also suffering from a "hearing scare" since my left ear hasn't be functioning properly (ringing noises and hearing loss). Hopefully it's just a build up of ear wax, but I fear the worse.. Hope she hangs in there!!
