There's a lot of little easter eggs/fridge brilliance moments in the game like this that really make the game really good. Why is a kind girl lost in the woods able to be so cruel and deal with horror and things like talking cats so easily? Why does the "_______" ending exist and work after waiting 60 mins in real time? Why does Viola's portrait change in the dark? Why is there a creepy laugh after reading the "Funny Story"? Why can Ellen only get the key at the end? It all makes sense the more and more you learn about the story and it's both horrifying and brilliant.

Existance of diaries vaguely tell you that bodies were already swapped. Because the diaries are supposed to tell the pasts from writer, not the present. When you read the last diary, you could actually take a guess on it. The other hint might be in 'funny story' which hunter kill the 'dog'. Viola's Father is also a hunter, isn't it fit in that story?

@@InnocentC0 You're right. And for some reason in the official English translation they used "I'm going to take her body" but in the Japanese version they used the past tense, that's why I changed to "I took over her body".

Thing is, in that scenario where she drops the bottle, your first instinct is to run. Mainly because of the room being dark. Chances of people finding this are pretty slim.

Shion also played this game and got the ending. They have funny comments in it too, regard for 'true ending' Someone did translate the first bits of it, check it out.

I'm also doing Shion's playthough but in a compilation like this one including Haato and Kanata. I kind of backed off after I saw someone translating Shion's playthrough and hoping Rushia play it so I could replace Shion with Rushia.

@@jjQlLlLq Ellen, the "witch" in the game is terminally ill and has literally half of her body torn off so if you wait for a while after starting the game without going inside the house, she dies naturally and the curse is lifted, destroying the rose bush blocking your path at the beginning of the game. Think off it as kinda like the far cry 4 secret ending.

Viola actually can't get her body back unless Ellen consents. The manga and novel gave details to the mechanics of the body swap magic and it stated both parties must consent to the body swap. Another thing is Ellen's body no longer has enough mana left to do another body swap. So in that end both of them die and the father is left to grieve on his own and then likely take his own life.

Fear shows the true colors of a person

The real Viola used the witch's power to prevent Ellen from escaping by summoning huge roses outside.

Basically, you are already the Witch (Ellen inside Viola's body) when the game started. You tried to escape your own house but Viola used magic to summon roses to block you so you return to the house to get the medecine to kill the roses. In all ending, no matter what you're were the witch all along.

It's not really an ending, it won't change the normal and true ending scenes. If you don't save at all until the end, you will see the cat alive before Ellen's bedroom and introduced as the demon who has a pact with Ellen to get a human soul. Also, depending if you play on the original or remaster version, you can get extra info on this backstory with this cat demon in the room where you aren't supposed to be distracted before the snake room.

@@Cnouki Additionally in the automatic save before the final chase scene, your save file becomes "My Room" instead of "Ellen's Room" and Viola's picture is actually smiling instead of the normal stoic look.

Sadly, I haven't seen a ton, just some of Matsuri losing her mind fighting Flowey and all that. The streams are up, and a game like Undertale is actually great for watching them do since you can still understand just what's going on, and even infer what they're saying by the context of the game and their voice tone/volume.

Matsuri and towa are the ones with some, but not many, but their streams are there, towa ones are pretty chill and relaxed, although she had the issue with loosing her saves

IIRC the witch has lived for so many years that her body doesn't even resemble a human if she's outside of her house. Combine that with her wounds, it might have look like a zombie monster to the father.

Look up the manga or light novel illustrations. It's kinda hard to just write off as simply a random bleeding stranger. Better yet, read the entire thing.
