The incredible true story picture disc, they were limited to about 2000 copies i believe and i usually see them going for around 100 dollars, not the most expensive but it could really help with my collection.

One of the rarest records I want is called Helene Smith Sings Sweet Soul! It went for about $2500 on an eBay auction the last time it was available for purchase online. The album wasn’t a big hit at the time so there was only about 500 copies made. It’s a shame because it’s such a great classic R&B album that I’ll likely never find anywhere :( Other ones on my want-list include an original pressing of Come To My Garden by Minnie Riperton, Solitude by Billie Holiday and Songs by Rotary Connection (and also pretty much anything else I can find by Rotary Connection actually) I have recently finally found a good copy of Buckingham Nicks by Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks which is a quite uncommon album that they released prior to joining Fleetwood Mac. It also didn’t break the bank too!

I have an Electric Light Orchestra -Out of the Blue album produced in 1977 still has the poster of the band and the card board space ship. Looked on eBay and you can find same thing for between $300 to $500.

I was a teen in the 90’s and records weren’t popular then. In 2009 I was gifted a turntable so I search for some of my favourite bands and picked up Nirvana Nevermind blue vinyl, Nirvana live MTV (1994), Live Throwing Copper (1994), Green Day Dookie. I spent probably $100 total on eBay. Well these were my holy grails and are apparently worth a ton of money now 🤷‍♂️

I’ve got hold of two of my most wanted records recently. I collect on a much lower level , since I only took it up two years ago. I stopped buying vinyl around 1990 , because my sons arrived , one after the other. Only bought the occational cd now and then. The first : The Cult-Sonic Temple , I held in my hand and stupidly put back in the bin 1989 , the second : Billy Idol-Cyberpunk , I bought on cd upon release. I got both on Discogs last winter , in excellent condition. I’m happy now.

I'm still after Waterglass by Waterglass,a very heavy (in weight) album pressed on two layers of thin glass with a mixture of multicoloured oil and water in between the layers,giving it an ever changing psychedelic design similar to "Liquid wheel" effect.This LP had two lengthy tracks of Klaus Schulze-type synthesizer noodling,housed in a felt anf flock lined box with "Waterglass" embossed on the box.No other details.Sublime stuff,but mine broke after I dropped it..I owned it in 1982..never seen or heard of it since.

Belle & Sebastian first pressing of Tigermilk. It was a run of 1,000 copies that costs about the same amount.

My rarest record is a Dave Brubeck "Time Further Out" 6-eye mono, on blue translucent vinyl. I've barely seen it come up for sale, and everytime it's someone mislisting a regular black version. Bought it for next to nothing; mint record, beat-up cover. I can't make heads or tails of it honestly. I haven't seen it mentioned in any record guide, nor been able to dig up any other information. It definitely doesn't look/sound like a bootleg either; The label is high quality, and the sound quality is astounding, just like most Columbia six-eyes. It's like Brubeck playing for you in your living room.

Most of them are out of my budget. In reality I'd like a original pressing of pet sounds by the beach boys. That goes for a pretty penny.

The first pressing of The Who's WHO ARE YOU was red. I got one right away,just after it was released-----because I had heard the lp and loved The Who. Had no idea the first run was going to be red. A friend of mine always wanted a gold vinyl version of NEW GOLD DREAM by Simple Minds(1982). I used to see a copy of it then. Neither of us bought the lp(I have a regular colored copy of the lp). He eventually bought a copy of SOME GIRLS by The Rolling Stones at a record show in the mid 80s. It had old time Hollywood stars and starlets wearing wigs.The common version had the band in the wigs. I don't think any of these lps are worth much, but they are fun to talk about.

The big one for me is the paramore singles club box set which fetches anywhere from $100 to $186. I have not spent that much on a record let alone three singles in a boxset. Next would be the paramore holiday sessions that was a record store day release which I was unable to get my hands on at the time. That one fairs a bit better on the low end of prices, but it ranges pretty high ($40 to $225)After that is Tonight Alive's Consider This EP. THe prices range when it comes to the color of the record, Red is $53 to 120 and green is $76 to $150. I don't think the blue one has popped up on the secondary markets, but I do know it exists. The last one would be Blind Guardian's Somewhere Far Beyond. This goes anywhere from $136 to $220.

My biggest holy grail is the Mars Volta’s “Realidad De Los Sueños” box set. It’s their entire studio discography and a bonus disc. I missed it the first time around but it’s such an integral part of their history that I’d do almost anything to get it.

The most valuable album to me is the 1977 issue of “ The Pirates”. Their last released album before it was 15 years earlier in 1962. An EXCELLENT album. These guys were Rocking It in the 50’s.

4 LP boxset from the video game Okami. Had a couple limited releases but now is at least $200 if it is listed at all. I love the soundtrack and am hoping for a reissue since it is way out of my budget right now.

I just got my most wanted vinyl today which is Figueroa pedro parrandas from 1972 by joan sebastian when he first started making music, and it costed me 350 dollars but its worth it because I've been trying to find it the last 3 years, and the songs were never released outside of vinyl so some of the songs are not even available complete or in good condition online.

Some of my current holy grails are: Captain Murphy (Flying Lotus) - Duality, Spacemonkyz vs. Gorillaz - Laika Come Home, Monkey - Journey to the West, Gorillaz - The Fall. Those are probably the most expensive ones on my want list at the moment. Some others rather cheaper are the Mac Demarco demos for 2, Salad Days, and Another One. And for boxsets, the Beatles in Stereo (I understand the price because its the whole discography lol) I want the Vinyl and CD set since I never got around to picking it up when it came out. Also the Pink Floyd - Oh by the Way CD boxset (my favorite packaging for the PF CDs by far) and for my ultimate holy grail is a CD for Odd Future, The OF Tape Vol. 2 Shark Cat CD cover. This CD was banned from sale, and I believe it was only sold in very limited quantities thru their own pop up store in LA or on their website. When you bought it of their site it was a random pick on which CD you'd get (there was 4 cover art variants) I'm not to sure of the story behind it, I just know hardly anyone has it and I've only seen one sold at auction in a past Ebay listing for around $90 and that was almost 5 years ago. Someone tried selling it on discogs for $242, I wouldn't pay that for a vinyl let alone a CD unless I was stupid rich lmfao.

There are many I am in constant search for: Reel Big Fish-Turn the Radio Off: there are a few color variants, but I can't find one for less than $125. So frustrating... R.E.M.-Nee Adventures in HiFi: another limited pressing. I have never seen this one for less than $150. I hope they repress it on its 25th anniversary like they have done with many of their other albums. Alice In Chains-The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here: limited release in a picture disc. I have seen it one time in the wild. It was $75. I didnt buy it. Now, it's around $200 on Discogs....errgh.

Case in point: I just scored on Ebay a sealed-Mint 1st pressing of Carly Simon's - Playing Possum lp from 1975. A childhood favorite and now, just now at 51, I have my first brand new copy. $11.02 AND priceless! Rock On!!!

Coheed and Cambria-Second Stage Turbine Blade. I have the 12" but not the 7" with the bonus tracks. I think I sold it for some stupid amount before it was worth $60+. It's my biggest vinyl regret because it's one of my favorite bands and their records sell out WAY too fast.

Just by chance, at an antique mall, I found one volume of the Alan Lomax Italian Treasury on vinyl. It was in perfect condition and was $20... no, I'm sorry... HALF OFF = $10. As I paid for it, I knew I was doomed to probably never complete this collection, especially not from the wild like that. If I could even complete just the Italian Treasury in my lifetime, I'd die a happy man.

God I'm so thankful I've escaped this 'collector's item' disease (so far). Because it is just that. 25 copies of a Pearl Jam record on glow in the dark vinyl (which is supposed to sound like crap) for 1500 dollars. Anybody who pays that much for ANY record is just an idiot, sorry. Why on earth would anyone do that for a piece of plastic they probably won't even listen to? I picked up three copies of PJ20 a few years ago in a San Diego Sam Goody or Boarders that was still in business at the time. One copy for me, two to hold on to in hopes for Benaroya Hall like appreciation. The two extra copies are still sealed and on the shelf. The copy I opened to enjoy has a huge chunk of something stuck in the grooves of one side of one of the records. I haven't tried too hard to remove it. I'm clumsy and would likely make it worse. Still bummed out about it to this day.
