In this video you will see the Manhattan, NYC filming locations used for this classic sequel. "My family is in Florida and I'm in New York." In the montage: The Empire Diner, China Town, The Statue of Liberty and The World Trade Center will all be seen. The fish market where we first see the now Sticky Bandits to the subway stairwell they exit out on to 6th Ave will be up next. Then it's off to the Central Park area where we see the Pigeon Lady and The Plaza Hotel. The chase scene spots will also make an appearance in this video from the necklace vendor back to the Plaza. See the spot where Harry and Marv wipe out on the beaded necklaces. Following that is where they get punched by the French woman and then its off to Bethesda Terrace/Fountain. Where Kevin goes to get into a cab and wisely gets out is right up the street from where he slips on the ice. The Children's Hospital is also in this video, where he says the boy in the window. I managed to get to the Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center but at the time of my visit, they weren't letting people get close. Enjoy.

The 90's, a much happier time and place, being from the UK, I was fixated on going to NYC, to the top of the World Trade Center because it was prominent at the beginning of F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and of course Home Alone 2, in March 1998 I fulfilled my dream, good times, fond memories ❤️

Life was so much simpler, happy, a lot more personable people were, and you actually had to walk into a store to buy something. It’s way more convenient now but I wish we could go back to that it seems so much more like real life.

New York was so different back in 1992. I miss the twin towers so much. That was the most epic scene in Home Alone 2 Kevin standing on top of one of the twin towers. So many things have changed and haven't changed since 1992. I have Home Alone and Home Alone 2 Lost In New York. New York is still a great city.
@NickP

Well said about how certain things have changed and other things have not, and still great indeed. However, I know exactly what you mean overall. I also agree, that is definitely the most visually iconic part of the movie. Two classics that belong in every home theater library. Happy Holidays!!

NYC is one of the many big cities suffering from being overused and exploited, which at the same time becomes over-sanitized, cold and unaffordable. A huge middle class is gone. It escalated in the 2000s. In the past years, it's become common hearing big news of another landmark business shutting down, or some building being bought and changed by developers. Sad. It's a blessing they filmed Home Alone in NYC when they did, because it was still very much NYC, perhaps a good balance of its natural grit beauty with better cleanliness and safety. I've always thought Home Alone 2 is a film to see NYC at its modern peak.

And the Plaza Hotel scenes, most of them were actually filmed in the famous Hilton Chicago, on Michigan Ave. Even the movie itself had me convinced that almost all the scenes took place in New York, while some were still filmed in John Hughes' notorious state of Illinois.

When The Beatles came to the United States for the very first time they stayed at The Plaza Hotel. They arrived at New York's JFK Airport(Then Idlewild) on February 7, 1964 and were taken by limousine to The Plaza Hotel. There is actually footage of The Beatles arriving at the hotel. Anyways, this was indeed a pretty decent sequel. I remember going to see the original Home Alone at the movie theater when it first came out. Watching your videos of filming locations like this one, makes me want to go back to The Big Apple. Another great video. Nick P I always look forward to your filming location videos. YOU are a fascinating man.

That's awesome Nathanial.. I never knew that, thanks for the info. My mother would always tell me about their performance at the Ed Sullivan Theater lol.. Where she was at the time, how big it was, etc... You know what? I think you gave me an idea for a future video.. The Brittish Invasion staring the Beatles Tour lol. I will have to return to Central Park West for a sad part of it but it must be done. The mosaic Imagine Memorial for John Lennon was made in Italy. It's a site to see. YOU are pretty fascinating yourself!

I think what you’re referring to is known as the Mandela Effect. I myself, remember it the way it’s shown here. I think what happens sometimes is we mix things up with a clip or a scene from a similar movie or tv show and that’s what we remember. Another thing that happens is over time we forget details and our minds fill in the blanks and that in turn becomes the new memory. Then we rewatch the movie or show and get bugged out by what we see. Then again, sometimes things happen that no one can explain.

@@NickP Yes I knew what you were getting at Bud. I've been thru the backlot at Universal but one day I'd love to hop off the wagon and walk thru the town.
