People seem to love it or hate it. Is the sequel to one of the biggest Christmas hits ever a good follow up, or should it have been left alone?
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is a 1992 American comedy film written and produced by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus. It is the second film in the Home Alone series and the sequel to Home Alone.

The ending will always be funny. “Kevin! You spent 967 dollars on room service??!!!”
@alvexok5523
@alvexok5523 10 ай бұрын
Why was his reaction narrowed down to room service, when Kevin also spent his credit card on limousine service, a pizza, and what about the room itself? It was a rich suite. And it was already stocked with junk food, was that included in the room service bill, or the pizza at the limo? Because from what I've seen when they show part of the room service bill is just that ice cream and the toppings he got. Was that entire $967 for the ice cream and toppings? That was the only actual room service we saw him get, if you don't include the already stocked bar or the pizza

I'll never forget the time we watched this movie in 8th grade in my French class, and we had to watch the French dub with English captions in order to actually have some tie-in to the class. The most hilarious part of the entire experience was the scene in the plane, because the guy who's actually speaking French in the movie simply had the words *Speaking French* as the captions for his entire dialogue.

21:54 Kevin actually made a smart move by screaming in the middle of a busy sidewalk and running away. But why on earth doesn't he just go find a police officer?! It's New York I'm sure there's a cop somewhere!
@thrillergirl021
@thrillergirl021 4 жыл бұрын
In the script, they make a big deal of out Kevin not wanting to go to the cop because he committed credit card fraud. In the first scene, he was suppose to watch the news where they announced a police crack down on credit card fraud of all ages. Original scrips can really help fill plot holes in movies. Often, when the audiences says "Why doesn't he just do this or that", theses issues had been addresses in the scrip, but never made it to screen. So I guess it's the director's fault.

As someone who has been to France like three times, I can tell you: They WILL talk to you in French. And they don't care at all that you say "No francais" 10 times during their monologue, they just seem to be happy to be able to talk to someone, even if that someone doesn't know the language. 4:31 just FYI, Macaulay was not suffering from the as you inaccurately called it the: I don't care I'm as cool as shit performance. In actuality, he was rather fatigued and increasingly overwhelmed and overworked by his father. Whom kept making him act in multiple movies too much at a time without letting him take any breaks because he was just using him to make money. He was burnt out by the time he was 14 and he quit acting in 1995. His parents, who weren't even married separated and he finally got away from his dad. So yeah, Macaulay was not being a brat or full of him self by any means. It's because his dad was abusive and treated him like a machine instead of a kid.

I always thought the homeless woman went into a depression after her breakup. The sadness made her give up on life, and no love from anyone else (her family, friends, other men) could help. That can definitely lead to a spiral that ends in homelessness. But they simplified/dumbed it down so much "for the kids" that it comes across as no real problem.

Not just birds that aren’t scary. Bats aren’t scary they’re cute, some dinosaurs aren’t scary they’re awesome, some insects aren’t scary they’re pretty like butterflies and moths, and rats are between scary and cute.

The idea of the Pigeon Lady's backstory, I believe, was going with a heartbreak that caused mental illness. Supposedly, she couldn't trust anyone after him, implying she couldn't work with people because she lost all trust in even her coworkers and bosses. Loss of trust in people is a symptom of many paranoia based mental illnesses, which can be caused by a betrayal of trust (aka heartbreak). But the movie made it sound like she just couldn't survive without someone taking care of her and not a mental illness. If they added a few more lines to her backstory implying she has gone through her life since childhood of abandonment, I could see how the heartbreak from someone she thought wouldn't "be like everyone else," could break her into losing so much trust in people she became antisocial. They could have even had her saying something like people made promises that were never kept throughout her life, making that "don't make promises you can't keep" line far more powerful.

I finally figured out the biggest problem with this sequel. The house. In the original, the house was a central character. We spend a good chunk of time in his castle, so we are rooting for him to defend it. Here, it's just an empty row home. This would have been FAR better had he figured out how to set traps in the hotel.

I have a soft spot for this movie. I know it’s the first one but in New York, but it can legitimately get a few laughs, like the brick scene. It even gets me to giggle at Rob Schneider, like what the hell. Tim Curry is an absolute ball, as always, and I always love to see Harry and Marve return. Joe Pesci has to be one of the best character actors in the business, whether it’s for Martin Scorsese or Chris Columbus he always gives a good performance. I always love to watch the first two films as a double feature. The original is a classic and this one… I honestly don’t know which I prefer.

Another set of cool moments are when Kevin does a trap that's similar to the original, and Marv and Harry remember and work around it, just to have Kevin do one better. It'is very Roadrunner-esque. I mean, the whole point is that it's a live action cartoon at that point.

Point of the story is maybe it's so crazy to keep crossing paths with the same people in New York. Sure it's a bigger city but I don't think it's impossible or anything
