This is so sad to see happen. That place went up quick. The fire fighter's did a great job on stopping it from spreading to the other building. Thanks for the video. I'm always in home depot.

@ben--

@@maxsmith695 While steel does melt around 1500C, it doesn't need to get anywhere near that hot to start turning soft, in fact, you can still see some of the steel roof support beams twisted throughout the wreckage, if they did fully melt, then they would be nothing more than puddles of metal.

They cannot allow that toxic water into the city sewer system. So they have to pump it into those trucks and remove it/ dispose of it safely.

Home depot will rebuild in the same location just with suppression fire system so in case it happens again wich it won't after they learned from there mistakes but I'm just glad all the home depot employees are all safe & no deaths reported.

This was a crazy event, total loss, and the Home Depot I always used to shop at (my family lives in Almaden). I would be surpised if HD actually rebuilds/ reopens at that site. And I wonder if that long narrow hole (strip) SJFD cut in the roof of the animal hospital was necessary? That alone is going to cost a $Million+ to fix (maybe several $Million).
@tommy6gun2
@tommy6gun2 2 жыл бұрын
The reason for the long trench cut in the roof from wait i have read is to stop the fire from advancing under thr roof and giving the fire a place to vent and saving the rest of the building. Which is the better option a roof repair or a total loss?

trench cut absolutely necessary, obv the fire curtain saved the remaining structure, but valid tactic given the cirmuctances

@@pyr0meter - Yup. I'm not a firefighter (or knowledgable in fire science), but my presumption would have been that the concrete wall [alone] did it's job and would stop the fire from spreading to the other building.
@Sovereign_Citizen_LEO

@@tommy6gun2 - Yeah I know. I just think the firewall would do (and did do) it's job. The roof trench cut is just a very expensive precautionary measure. My question is: Is there any analysis or protocol in fire departments/ command staff, before making the decision to actually make the cut? And the answer is probably no (or minimal), as there is not a lot of time to make such a decision. It's probably a protocol that should be more carefully looked at/ analyzed (from many perspectives). Because fire departments are likely routinely and unnecessarily damaging buildings (which they nor the city will have to pay for). Presumably it would be covered by insurance. There was no fuel for the fire beyond the firewall. It would somehow have to make it's way inside. The roof is probably composite tar/ gravel which probably wouldn't catch fire.

@@maxsmith695 - The trees did burn, but obviously they contain water and the fire wasn't directly underneath them. I hear this all the time. But is it a conspiracy of the trees (in general)? This kind of talk/ false presumptions minimizes us legitimate conspiracy theorists (Researchers/ Investigators/ Historians).

The amount of toxic pollution that fire emitted into the community, might results in a massive increase in respiratory and cancer deaths. Will Home Depot have to pay reparations to the community. I think $500 million is probably still too little.
