One thing I appreciate about Home Free is their respect for veterans. They can be very funny and lighthearted, but they know when it's time to be serious and give respect.

Home Free released this for our Veterans Day last year. They are unapologetically patriotic and never shy away from sensitive social issues. Everybody Walkin This Land is a phenomenal message song. Make sure you listen to Tim's message at the end. One Voice ft Billy Gilman, and People ft Jeffrey East are 2 others. Great reactions!

FYI. This is actually not a cover of the Dire Strait’s original. Rather, it’s a cover of the version by Finnish group, “Club for Five”. Their bass is also a basso profundo, like Tim Foust. His name is Tuukka Haapaniemi. It’s that version that begins with a very deep bass solo. When HF decided to do this, they called “Club for Five” for permission to cover THEIR version.

@@patriciamcl54 Agreed, I said it was included on a patriotic album as a descriptive because giving the name of the album would be meaningless. Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. I know some see it as a "ghost"y reference but it strikes me as a reflection of the POW/MIA flag. We'll never know just how many of those met the same fate as the soldier of this song. 😥

You are right, I think they paid respect to the original song while doing it in their own interpretation. The song itself is iconic. This version is full of hauntingly beautiful harmonies and the lyrics takes you on a disturbing last journey of a fallen brother. If it doesn't make you think twice about the wisdom of war, you have no heart. When HF gets serious, you feel it to your very soul. You might enjoy 'In the Blood' or 'Helplessly Hoping'. For another style song you might check out HF's 'May Day' or 'Bless the Broken Road". For a Pentatonix flavor 'Ring of Fire' featuring Avi Kaplan of Pentatonix might be your cup of tea.

Thank you for reacting to this song. It has become one of there signature songs along with MAN OF CONSTANT SORROWS, TAKE ME HOME COUNTRY ROADS and UNCHAINED MELODY. Tim Foust got this arrangement from a Finnish acapella group called Club Of Five and made some small changes to it (mainly added the echo sequence). When you get a chance you should listen to Club of Five’s version. This is very powerful moving version of this song. You are one of the few reactors to mention that they were sounding like a Pipe organ. As you are starting to find out these guys can sing any style and make it sound fabulous. Home Free did a great job again. They just give it their own twist, but still respect the original.. But I think I've already seen and heard all their videos and of course not one has disappointed me. Because you can sing a song well, but if it only reaches your ears and not your heart and soul then it is not complete for me. But HF reaches me deep inside so they are perfect for me. I really listen to HF every day. Not only because of their great voices, each with their own specialty, which makes the harmonies so phenomenal I think. Not only by the inhuman mouth artist Adam Rupp, although I do think he is the glue of the group. But for me it's their great personalities, the love for each other and the fun they have together that makes it complete for me. No egos, no rivalry.

As a Home Fry, I recommend How Great Thou Art, Helplessly Hoping, Ring of Fire (with Avi Kaplan), Bless This Broken Road, Woman/Amen, My Church, Man of Constant Sorrow. Wait until you’ve become pretty familiar with the group to do Mayday (but it sounds like you’re pretty close). Winter Song is another of my favorites. Yeah this is a pretty heavy track. I remember being in high school when this album came out. Shiny new LP jacket to sit on the living room floor and read while you're listening to masterpiece after masterpiece. And the message never get's old.....it's the same the world over. We go out, cause harm and suffering to our fellow humans all for what? Land? Resources? For "things"....life isn't about "things". Theres so much more than enough for it to go around if we'd only just listen instead of turning a blind eye to this kind of wealth mongering. I truly do well up whenever I listen to this, either version to be honest, because of the unrelenting HOPE for that day that we'll no longer yearn for it. Keep on the Home Free search gents, its well worth it. Man of Constant Sorrow is a true must, before you move on. And you HAVE to end with Mayday LOL

@Daniel O'Sheigh Hi Daniel, I missed a few of your comments and replies, I do apologise. We have finished our Artist Spotlight for Home Free but will be returning to them more often and will add your requests to the list of ones to give a try. As for the LP, it was a great album and as you say just filled with great tracks and this tune is still so relevant today as it was back then. We never learn. Hope the move is going well. Oh, we are starting to add a new "Britpop" section, looking back on some of the great bangin songs from back in the day. Cheers for now

You should check out some of their original songs - for a good laugh - Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget and Full of Cheer which is kind of a sequel to it, or more serious Land of the Free or Snow Globe - written by Tim Foust or Warmest Winter an original by Austin Brown. They are amazing with covers but they have great original songs too.

THANK YOU! You are the very first reactors I have seen who recognized the pipe organ. I have sung with pipe organs, and they have really captured it...especially the last 2 chords.

Enjoying your HF focus. Recent HF video to react to is Unchained Melody and not so recent is Everybody’s Walking this Land. Both are serious with excellent vocals and strong messages. Thx guys!!

This song by Homefree reminds me of the Gregorian monks chanting in the medieval castle chapels.

Great reaction! A suggestion to avoid copyright with Pentatonix - MTV's Pop spring performance (a great live set) or beginners guide to pentatonix. Still recommend Bad for us by superfruit
