I dearly love Adams beatboxing, but when all 5 sing together, the wall of sound they creat is spectacular.

Home Free is doing a cover of Club for Five’s arrangement of this, with permission from them. Home Free did make a few changes so it isn’t a direct copy.

This song was inspired by the Falklands War, which was going on when Dire Straits lead singer Mark Knopfler wrote the song. The Falklands War was a conflict between Argentina and the UK over islands off the coast of Argentina that each country claimed rights to. The islands are British territories, but in 1982 Argentina tried to reclaim one of the islands. Britain reclaimed their territories, but lost 258 soldiers in the conflict. In this song, Mark Knopfler sings about a soldier who is dying on the battlefield, surrounded by his comrades, who remain by his side as he slips away. It's a look at the folly of war and the plight of those who fight them. "We've got just one world but we live in different ones," he told the BBC. "It's just stupid, it really is. We're just foolish to take part in anybody's war.

This song has such beautiful harmonies, and wonderful lows from both Tim and Chance, but it also shows that even when Tim goes VERY low, he is still in control of his voice, and that must be incredibly difficult.

This is the most hauntingly beautiful rendition I’ve ever heard!

I consider this song, as the Home Free Masterpiece....well at least for now, because these guys are so very talented who knows if they will ever top it......I put no limits on their abilities, but this is as near to perfection as right now I can think of.

They have videos that are serious and sincere to funny and hilarious and often catch us the audience discerning that a great amount of thought went into producing to enhance the message in the delivery. They bring an emotional aspect that is fresh and thought provoking each time. They are very intentional and deliver with excellence. They simply don't put out junk, they bring it with a very high end and are very deliberate with their message of their productions. Home Free’s library of songs/productions both covers and originals and include a vast array of genres has become incredible. It is just plain fun to review and realize their gifts and talents are over the top extraordinary. This group can simply stand tall amongst the industry vocalist peers (groups and gifted vocalists). They bring about an excitement intrigue wondering what they will produce for us today, near future and the years to come. They are not bound by a particular genre and whatever they produce you know it is going to be quality. Home Free produces at a high level of integrity and always amazing the interpretation both vocally and visually with their video presentation. Every individual in their vocal group is significant top-notch performer and each draws out the very best in each other. I always look with anticipation to their next release. When you pointed to the goose bumps on your arm I chuckled because I had the same reaction just seconds before. Love that pipe organ effect their voices make about midway through. It’s so beautiful. But then the whole song is beautifully done.

This group is one of the most patriotic groups you'll find. They are such a phenomenal group of talented people and multiple, long time, award winning artists, have invited them to perform/record with them. One of those was Lee Greenwood. The video & recording of their cover of God Bless the USA with Lee Greenwood and the US Air Force band is the absolute version of that song out there.

A Masterpiece by Home Free. They have quite a few. Every single one of these singers will blow your mind as they take center stage. Tim Foust is a special bass, I think, in the rarified realm of world class bass singers with a huge range, because of the purity of his tone, even in the subterranean levels. Geoff Castellucci is right there with him, but I admit to giving Tim the edge. But really, no reason to choose when you can enjoy them all! If you want to hear Tim’s Dragon Breath react to his duet with Peter Hollens of The Misty Mountains from the Hobbit. Incredible. You are just started on the amazing catalog by Home Free. Rob in some ways is my favorite, but really, I love whoever is singing, because they all are special in their own way, and you have barely been exposed to most of them, including the Alien Adam Rupp who is an unbelievable beatboxer, who swallowed a drum kit and harmonica. I’m going on too much but they are amazing, every one.

I’ve listened to Brothers in Arms several times in the Original and Home Free. The thing I really appreciated was that I can always understand every word that Home Free sing. I love that their musical words aren’t covered by guitars or drums.

Excellent reaction, subscribed. The beatboxer Adam Rupp sings so well in the higher harmonies here, making up the even richer five part harmonies that are such a feature of this song. They are such a talented group and blend so well. Adam Chance is sometimes overlooked, but his section is so good.

I broke down on tears listening to this. My husband couldn't finish. Hurt too much, as he had so many brothers die by his side in combat. They are the best!!!❤

I always liked the Dire Straits version, but I only got really interested in this song through Home Free. (Although I have to be honest I think Dire Straits guitar playing is phenomenal) Yes, this version of Home Free will send shivers through your entire body! This is so emotional. Beautifully sung by Tim and Chance, but the background and harmony of Adam, Rob and Austin is also so beautiful. It looks like a choir or actually a kind of church organ sounds. And the whole setting of the video is just amazing. Simple but with so many details that makes it so profound

They’re all incredible in this but Chance is just phenomenal!!!! His tone is stunning & I love the warmth in his voice. First time I heard this I wasn’t sure about it because I LOVE Dire Straits & grew up with their version of this but after a couple of listens it’s up there with my favourites of Home Free!! My Father-in-law was in WWW II. His platoon in the army was ambushed and half were killed. Several of his brothers in arms fell on him and the enemy thought that he was dead.He caught up with his platoon 3 days later and scared the hell out of Men who were still alive. They thought that he was a ghost. This is a phenomenal rendition of the song and you gave the perfect reaction as usual.

I have always been a fan of this song by Dire Straits but think Home Free did an excellent version of this song. Tim's natural breathy bass was awesome along with Chance's smooth baritone & loved it when all the guys were doing 5 part harmonies. Who would believe humming could sound so good. They gave it a very solemn feeling. I love that they don't overproduce their songs. These guys are my favorite a cappella group out there.

The first time I heard Brothers in Arms, I fell in love with it. Home Free is doing an exceptional cover.

Notice the change in harmony’s. They start with “mmmm” then “ahhh” then “ooooo”. Then back to “mmmm”s. It just adds so much

Home Free always pays appropriate respect in their covers--especially to the content! Their talent is amazing--and I LOVE their 5-part harmony❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ Such a genius touch to show the silhouette of the fellas in front of the window. This is my 2nd favorite Dire Straights song, right behind "So Far Away" and I love what Home Free did with it.

Chance and Tim silhouetted against the light from the window is deliberately ghostly, a dying soldier’s spirit slipping away into the light. It also is highly reminiscent of the POW-MIA flags we fly in honor of our military captured and missing. The entire song brings me chills and tears. I also love the Dire Straits version, but this one really brought the message home to me.

Hi, Nick! New subscriber here! This is my all time favorite recording (so far) from Home Free! It’s hauntingly beautiful! I get goose bumps in several parts of the song. The echo part is one of them. The one you where you got chills is the same for me, as well. Tim’s deep bass really brings depth and soul to this cover. I also love that he and Chance had leads for this one! The harmonies were stunning and perfect. The video was perfect for the song and the effects of Tim’s and Chance’s ghostly image was remarkable. I don’t know if anyone else mentioned that Austin and Chance also have their own KZfaq channels. Austin has originals and covers, as does Chance. Chance doesn’t have but a few on his channel, but he is working on a solo album. He leans more towards more Folk style, but also like Rock music. Check out Home Free’s cover of Bruce Springstein’s cover of “Born In the USA” where Chance leads the whole song. He really brought it on that one. I enjoyed your reaction and commentary regarding Dire Straits. I do like their hits from the past, but never heard their original version of this until Home Free covered it. I went and listened to it and really liked it. It’s definitely worth a listen, or more!

This is actually a cover of a cover. The Finnish A Capella group Club for Five, did this arrangement first. Tim asked their bass Tuukka if they could record it. Tuukka sent it to them, and fell in love with the echo sequences HF added. Listen to Club for Five sometime, they are really good too....and deserve more attention from American A Capella fans.

This arrangement was created by the Finnish group Club for Five and they were kind to let HF use it. Their version is definitely worth a listen. It is quite different as it includes male and female voices as well as instrumentation. I had not heard the original Dire Straits version before I heard the Home Free one. When I went to listen to it, I thought I'd clicked on the wrong video because it is so drastically different from this.

Great Reaction! This is such a somber, beautiful song about the cost of engaging in warfare. Yes, there are times when we are forced into war by circumstances, but even so there is a high cost involved. Another song about war that ALWAYS gets to me is "Danger Line" by Avenged Sevenfold" I would love to watch you react to it!
