Hello everyone, hopefully we're all having an amazing Home Free Friday! Today we're going to be taking a look at the title track of the (so far) newest Home Free Album, So Long Dixie. I've really been enjoying everything I've heard off of this album so far, will this track be the same??

They were a little surprised when Darren sent them back the final recording and he'd left the guitar in because it was such a beautiful song so they just said "What the hell. Why not?" As much as I love HF I can't imagine this song without that gentle guitar. It adds to the song without being overwhelming.

A beautiful melancholic song. That Tim and Chance have great voices really doesn't need to be emphasized. Adam's restrained but wonderful no-monica and background vocals round it all out. Another masterpiece from these fantastic guys!

Such an emotional song for me. I connect with this in so many ways. I was brought up in a very traditional Southern family, and yes due to a number of factors I also did a "farwell to Dixie" 25 or so years ago.....I still live here but I recognized those parts of my heritage I had to give up and live in the modern world. I think you can figure this out !!!

Chris Chatham, the guy playing the guitar co-wrote this song along with Tim, Austin and Adam Wakefield (the guy who plays piano for Texas Hill). It is a beautiful song. All of the song on this album are great. Thanks

Another great original song! This is such a beautiful heartfelt melancholy song. Tim's lead was awesome along with all the guy's harmonies & Adam's harmonica sounds were great as usual. I don't mind having an instrument played once in awhile in a song. It was tastefully done in the background without taking over. It added a nice element. Also like the scenery in Colorado.

A song so wonderful. A masterpiece. The harmony is just always perfect at Home Free. A good choice to do it with a guitar this time because that's just part of it. Then Adam's no-monica which can be heard at exactly the right moments. Not too overwhelming. Yes, as I often say: Home Free is not only hearing the music, but also feeling it.

The guitar and harmonica brought the melancholy of leaving something behind, Rob and Austin's soaring vocals added that hope for the future. An all around masterpiece.

That sweet guitar is just a beautiful 6th instrument blending perfectly with the other 5. This album,, and these original songs are wonderful. Home Free has mastered the individual talents, but when singing together, the sum is greater than its parts. Your reactions are so on the mark. Thank you.

I saw them do this live in October and it was so good. Chris Chatham was there too and came up and played guitar. Adam with his soulful harmonica and Austin was using the egg shaker…it was wonderful. Tim, Chris, Austin and Adam Wakefield wrote this song. Love it. Good reaction BC!😃

So beautiful. You got the message of the song! 1 reactor went off about how wrong this was about Dixie & how racial or mind warped ...etc. he obviously has issued with something. Lol. He got the FRIES backlash. 🤣 I love this & love your reactions. 🥰🥰

It may have looked nice outside but they were FREEZING. They filmed this in Denver in early Dec. Tim was still so cold that night at the concert that he had 4 layers on to start the show. The temp was low 40s but the wind was killing them. They were supposed to shoot another video the next day but canceled because of the wind chill.

They mostly seemed to stick with the songwriter as lead for this album, though not completely, so Tim and Austin got a lot of leads. They just premiered "Givin' Up on You" today, which was written by Tim and Adam Wakefield of Texas Hill. Wakefield and Rob are the leads with Tim doing a spectacularly gravelly bass part.

From what I've heard they got to talking about how the south had come under fire last year for things in the past, Dixie Chick's are now just Chick's, Lady Antebellum is now Lady A. And Tim and Austin are TX and GA boys both now in Tenn. Chance from Alabama and Chris and Adam also country guys. So "Dixie" has a pull on them all. It's what made them who they are and with Texas Hill on one of the songs just puts it over the top. This new album is fabulous.

Hey behind the curve! I absolutely love your content and I would LOVE if you could do a reaction video to This Song Is Awesome or Talia from Ride the Cyclone. Talia is my favorite song from Ride the Cyclone and I would highly appreciate it. I somehow manage to cry every time I hear Talia (Back story time for Talia! Basically Mischa (the man Noel made out with in Noel's Lament) is a Ukrainian orphan who had a passionate online relationship with a Ukrainian woman named Talia. The song is a love letter to her and will almost definatly pull at your heartstrings! Some of the lyrics are in Ukrainian and translate to "I love you" ).

I have neither vinyl or CD player and I haven't had either for at least 10 years, probably longer. I still own several Home Free albums on CD. 😁 One day I would love to have a gramophone and all their albums on vinyl, though, it's so much more satisfying than listening to a CD. 🥰🙏 Having said that, digital rocks because it's readily available and accessible, which is the reason why most people in Europe don't own CD players these days.

Here, this song indicates a moving away from certain cultural attitudes associated with the antebellum ‘Dixie’. I loved how they acknowledge those roots but aren’t going to let themselves be totally defined by them. Beautiful lyrics, beautiful message. Thank you 🙏🏾
