Hello everyone, hopefully we're all having a great day! Today we're going to be taking a look at the Kennedy Center Honors Julie Andrews. I am not super familiar with her career, but these Honors are always such a touching tribute.

Robert Goulet slaying it up there in his 60s. Voice quality is still so rich here. Funny jazzy arrangement of If Ever I Would Leave You.

Patrick Wilson, who opened Julie's musical tribute (On The Street Where You Live) was the lead in the 2002 revival of Oklahoma. He was also the lead in the Broadway musical adaptation of the UK film The Full Monty. He has been primarily working in films during the last few years. I would love to see him tackle another musical again.

One of my favorite actresses of all time. Julie and Carol did a concert together at Carnegie hall, you can find it on youtube I think. The song she sang was in reference to that.

I'm glad you enjoyed the last of my three requests. Also Jeremy Irons sang a majority of Be Prepared from The Lion King (1994 film). The song you wondered about from Mary Poppins is called Supercalifragilisticexpiladocious. Robert Goulet is best known by late 90's early 2000's kids as the singing voice of Mikey in Recess and the singing voice of Wheezy in Toy Story 2. Also he was the original Lancelot in the musical Camelot and starred alongside Julie Andrews. That would become his signature song. Okay yu have to watch some classic movie musicals on your own time: Singin in the Rain, Mary Poppins, Sound of Music, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Slipper and the Rose, The Band Wagon, Tom Sawyer, and others. The Kennedy Center Honors have been happening since 1978 and among some of the other legends of the stage to receive the Honor include: Betty Comden and Adolf Green, John Kander and Fred Ebb, Lerner and Lowe, Richard Rodgers, Hal Prince, Jerome Robbins, Andrew Lloyd Webber and many others.

- Patrick Wilson played Raoul in the movie version of Phantom of the Opera - Audra McDonald is, I believe, still the only performer to win a Tony Award in all acting categories - both plays and musicals - You should definitely watch Sound of Music - it's amazing! - As this is a celebration of her career, they obviously wouldn't mention certain things. You commented on her not having any mid-life tragedies. Well, there is a reason they focussed on her career up until Victor/Victoria. I think it was after the Broadway run of that show that she lost her voice because of a surgery going wrong. It's the reason her voice is much lower and she sadly can't sing the way she used to. I remember it being a BIG deal that she sang a tiny bit in Princess Diaries 2. - Award Shows has also tended to lead to a bit of drama - at least a few times. She was nominated for best actress for Victor/Victoria at the Tonys, but turned down the nomination because the show has been completely locked out of the awards except for her nomination. The other one I recall is her acceptance speech from the Golden Globes when she won for Mary Poppins. She thanks Jack Warner, who blocked her from being cast in the movie version of My Fair Lady - a role she played on stage many times! It meant that she was free to do Mary Poppins and ended up winning all the best actress awards over Audry Hepburn, who ended up playing the lead in My Fair Lady.

I'm surprised that someone who would do a reaction video wouldn't know more about the performer. Some of the things he said actually made me cringe (like the comment about not knowing Carol Burnett could sing). Hopefully he'll be more prepared in the future.
