Shane, I'm so glad you brought Arendal Sound to the attention of the US market! They really have you to thank for turning everybody in the states on to them. I'd never even heard the name before you shot this video. I'm a 2 channel guy who listens to hip hop, rap, R&B etc, at high spl, but regardless of the audiophile stereotype of my music choice, I look for well designed and engineered high quality speakers. I paid close attention to Arendal after this and I eventually purchased a pair of the 1723 Monitor. They had so much hype at that point that I was fully prepared to return them if they didn't perform well in my system. They definitely met my expectations! They aren't the most expensive speakers I've owned either, though I do stay in the sub 5k market. I only considered returning them for the towers, but because I use dual subs(sb-3000's) and the full size Monitor's can go to seemingly limitless volumes so cleanly, I couldn't really see the value in the added expense. I also like the ability to control the tweeter height when using stand mounted speakers vs. towers. I've admittedly tried quite a few speakers in home in search of what my own preferences are and demoed even more outside of my home. I've only really been serious about high performance home audio for 5 years, but this is the first time I've been 100% satisfied with my speakers. Are there other models I'd like to look at price no object, of course. But there's nothing I've found sub 5k that can do what I like better than the 1723 Monitor's in my experience. Just placed an order for these speakers. You have cost me a lot of money with this channel sir. Pair of PB-16 Ultras, JVC NX5 projector, Panny UB9000, the home theater seats and now the Arendals, I think I'll draw the line at the Trinnov though (for now). My wife gets nervous everytime you do a new product review. LOL Love your channel though, best reviews online!

I have this set up and my dedicated home theater room sounds epic!!! These speakers are incredible and that’s coming from the SVS ULTRA theater set up. I still kept the 2 PB3000s and 4 SVS heights in my set up.

Judging from the video the fit and finish on those Arendals are outstanding.I enjoy your brisk and flowing yet intelligible style of speaking. Makes the presentation more palpable .

Great review and information!! What was your recommended crossover when using a large sub?

Because of my Condo living it would be preferable if I could substitute the surrounds with sattellite speakers as I have done with SVS. They don't make any though. Also I would opt for their bookshelves in place of the monitor speakers.

Would be very interested in an A/B sound comparison between these and the mk150 please!

This comment might be old for this channel now. But i must say that the M&K speakers rock. I am very happy with my new setup with S150 i got 4months ago. New look and it´s trully a blast to listen to. And yes, i did pick the X15 Dominus sub. It really shakes my house. Then again, my house is an old house of over 200years wth straw roof and all the trimmings from olden days. Anyway. Thanks for all your advise and great videoe reviews.

I recommend checking the XTZ M6/M8 in comparison. In my opinion they come out on top. Subwoofers I recommend to stay with Arendal. I combined both and can't be happier.

I have to agree with your comment we still love 3D. I still run my Elite Veritas speakers. They still sound great. Paid a shiny penny for them. I'm like you. I like it loud but not ear hurting loud.

May I ask you a couple of questions. How long have you had the M&K’s . Have the sound changed since you have had them? Why you choose the SVS sub over the M&K sub. Last question is if money was no object what surround sound speakers would you go with and why?

Awesome review. So, for an Atmos setup, it would be better to use the Monitor S instead of the Surround S? And for the overhead speakers you would also use the Monitor S or the Bookshelf S?

I'm building a dedicated home cinema room and for speakers I have the M&K S150 or S300 on my list, also the XTZ M6 or M8 and these Arendal 1723 monitors. So far I've heard the M&K S300 which are fenomenal. Soon I will hear the XTZ M6 at a local dealer. Unfortunately there is no way to test the Arendal speakers at a dealer. Also it's impossible for me to test all 3 speakers in the same room, because no dealer has all 3 brands. So I have to make my choice based on what I've heard myself and from internet reviews like these.

Hey got a question...what do you think of your old Def Tec speakers? Does it sound better than these Arendals

Thank you for sharing your wonderful review with all of us. I do have a question, for your personal opinion does the SvS Ultra towers and set up compare at all with these speakers ? And if so witch ones do you think are better? I really like the SvS Ultra and the way they look but have not had the chance to enjoy the personal experience of listening in person to them. @SpareChange I've been thinking about possibly getting a set of these, would you consider (3) 1723 S Monitors an actual 'upgrade' over my current KEF R300/600c combo? Also, I use Focal SR800 bipole speakers mounted directly on the back wall for my surrounds since seating is only a foot away with an open concept room, do you think the "TriAxial" design surrounds from Arendal would image as good/better/worse for my situation?

Hi Shane! How much better sound do these give (1723 s) against the 1961 speakers? I know they don't have any bass but that is for the subs. Is the upgrade worth the money?

im looking at arendal sound speaker also, i live close to arendal so at least that's a plus. reviews of them in home country us good as well and now they have added a bookshelf with only one woofer and its sealed :) When i looked at the subwoofers, i was hoping for a more aggressive eqon the sealed ones that made them go to 15hz, dual 14" woofers can handle that. ported option goes a few hz lower but im sure its going to sound worse.

I got rid of the m&k s150 system for the klipsch kl650 thx setup. Are the Arendals better than the klipsch???

Just discovered these. Regarding the comments on the tripole surrounds and Atmos, were you able to test them in monopole mode vs. tripole and which did you prefer for Atmos?

I am planning to buy the 8" Monitors. I'm thinking about using the 6.5" Monitors for my surrounds since I have disconnect the side speakers on the surrounds due to Atmos. Good Idea or NO?

These or the Martin Logan motion series. This center channel looks more capable than the Motion 50 XTI which is important to me.

Dude!!!! You had an svs pb, I’m surprised you didn’t go with the sub 3. I’m still thinking of the larger versions for my room, combined with dual sub 3’s. I’m used to a slot port, so in for music out for movies 😜. In regards to the Dolby’s suggestion of using monopole surrounds, I’ve had no problems to speak of using mine in tripole, however, arendal do have a 1723 (ACTUAL) bookshelf version of their tripole that I may get instead. And would recommend to those who don’t favour tripole, or want to stick strictly to Dolby’s guidelines. Great review! And love everything about these speakers so far. Just need to hear them in person first. On top of selling my old set that I don’t doubt il regret before long. 😢. But if the arendals sound better then 👍🏻. Thanks for the review man. Enjoy em! 👍🏻👍🏻

I generally prefer speakers without grills anyhow.

Just cause it weights more doesn’t mean its better or more dynamic. You have to use item to measure it’s dynamic range. Weight used to be a marketing thing but not anymore.

In the end it doesn't matter getting their center channel as its the same as their monitor but made to be horizontal. If your going to use the surrounds as a single speaker why not get their bookshelf instead. Not addressing this to you as they sent you the kit mentioning this for those looking to get a kit. How do their subs sound compared to an svs pb 3000 for example? Going to Arendal I would keep my svs sub to be honest.

Since this is more of a subjective review, I would suggest you all look at Audioholics and Erin's Audio Corner for the objective testing results of the Arendal speakers before making up your mind. Yes, they test pretty well, but you will have to judge for yourself if the data looks good enough to invest the money.

Need your help. I just recieved Canadian pricing form Arendal on the 1723 and 1723S and both are in my price range. What I need help is in deciding if it is comparable either upscale or downscale to other speaker brands that I am shopping. On the upper end is KEF R7, B&W 703s. The middle is Monitor Audio Silver 500 & 300 and Martin Logan Motion 60 XTi and the lower end is Martin Logan Motion 40i, Revel Concerta 2 F36, Paradigm Premier 800F and SVS Prime Pinnacle. This will be hopefully my forever tower speakers and I don't want to f**k it up. I know that they all sound good but I just want to justify the maximum best sound for my dollars. My primary goal is for music so I will accept anyone's surround sound speakers. Thanks.
