This is easily the best powertec levergym commercial I've ever seen. They should seriously pay you for these videos. In seriousness, this is an extremely valuable video for those of us considering a levergym and is also the best levergym content on KZfaq. Very well done.

Super cool of you, thank you! I’ve had 4 back extension benches over the last 5 years and the Powertec Hyper Crunch is the only one I still have. Another great list full of good ideas there mate. Thanks for sharing. The pick of them for me was the cable wrist curl utilizing the center bar. Once again the lever gym proves itself a might versatile one stop machine. I love the thing so much for that. One hack I am enjoying is putting the machine at the pin setting on the front section the 3rd down from the top. From there I can hack a standing two arm lateral raise, starting with my arms vertical and simply lifting my elbows outwards and upwards with my nuckles of both hands being brought together as I raise. The exercise is similar to the seated commercial machines. If you get what I mean try that one. It is another great hack.

Been about 7 yrs since I have been thinking about this one particular fabulous pc...but I have 2 rooms already filled with gym equipment....so I would have to get rid of a couple pcs I like. So have already watched your other hacks over the yrs. About 18 yrs ago, I got an older Powertec Individual Lat Pulldown pc. I recently sold that to create some room-it was Good as new. They make highly functional, solid, cost effective equipment. Probably my fav of all the pcs I have. I am not as much a fan, but have many Body Solid pcs I bought maybe ~10 yrs ago. I STILL love their leg sled--very solid. I also have a very cool, old piece called "The Hammer" ! I need to repair it--but Never saw a Simple LEVER pc as effective as that !

Great stuff! I like to keep my powertec bench further away from the lever gym too. Benching feels a lot better that way for me. I'm also using the squat bar with the levers at the lowest setting instead of the roller pads for lat pull downs. The angle just feels better and I'm getting a greater range of motion. I never thought of using the lower pulley for calve raises and forearm work. Going to try that. Great vid as always!

This is such a great machine and excellently demonstrated here how to get even more from it. I have a mkII version of this machine and it's been with me for the past 7 years, unfortunately it’s in storage at the moment due to a house move, but I miss it so much and would not sell, even if the new ones are slightly more versatile again, but mine can still do practically as much. I’ve worked out in commercial gyms for over 30 years, and it matches everything you can get there for heavy-duty workouts. I’ve started using commercial gyms again at the moment, but they have their drawbacks. I'm looking for an ultra-compact gym now to use in my temporary accommodation but struggling to find anything good enough for the purpose. :(

Always love these hacks. Can you tell me if you're able to get a truly full stretch when you do pulldowns with the Levergym? Since it's becoming clearer that the stretch portion is likely the most productive, will the Levergym accomplish this? I'm about 5'8". Thanks A Lot.
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 10 ай бұрын
Thank you!! It really depends on the length of the attachment and if you are locking your legs under the rollers. With the Prime RO-T8 Handles, no. With a straight bar, yes. There is the option to put the bench in the decline position and that will allow you to use an even longer attachment. However, the pulldown I show in this video is the only one I’ve been doing lately and I can absolutely get a full stretch.

furnished my basement gym mostly powertec, some body solid, this was over 20 yrs ago, did like the brand, EXCEPT the actual bench, now it did slide back and forth, BUT I thought it was a little to high off the ground, dudes I had over to lift said about the same thing, all it needed was to be about 1,2 in. lower then would have been perfect oh yeah my pieces were all independent from each other
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 10 ай бұрын
Agreed. I’ve always said the actual Levergym is the better of the 2 pieces (even though the bench is still decent). Like you, I think the bench is a bit too high for dumbbell and barbell work, but it’s less of an issue if the bench is only being used in conjunction with the Levergym. Also, I should note, the height of the bench is an advantage when it’s being used with the attachments.

I really appreciate your comment. Thank you so much. I don’t have the Levergym bolted down. I have the add-on footplates (I did a video quite a few months back covering them briefly). The footplates add additional stability and depending on the exercise, I will load the storage posts and/or the cable system for even greater stability.

Your videos have been a lifesaver helping me narrow down my current gym build! Can't thank you enough! I'm unfortunately having a dilemma, I recently came upon an Inspire SF3 unit as my co-center piece for my build, but I am torn between investing in a levergym, or a rogue rhino as my second main piece. Do you believe I would still benefit enough from the levergym already having the SF3 in my gym? I would love a dedicated leg machine but I love the versatility of the levergym. My main decision for the SF3 was to utilize the adjustable pulleys for chest/torso/shoulder work. The innovative smith bar is pretty neat but I don't know if smith squats and presses are enough. I'm a skinny guy, and my main goal will be to add mass fast but safely. If you have any thoughts I'd appreciate it much. Thanks!

Great to hear and thanks so much. I have an older video called, The Powertec Levergym: The One Piece of Equipment I Would Have If I Could Only Have One. That may be worth checking out. With that being said, if you get the Inspire that will cover a lot of your upper body exercises and you could benefit from a lower body machine. I am slightly more reluctant to recommend the Rhino nowadays because the Squatmax by Titan costs significantly less. If you haven’t seen it, check out my video comparing the two belt squats for the pros and cons of each. I’ll conclude by saying, I honestly don’t miss any of my big, expensive leg machines now that I’ve been using the Compact Leg Sled as my only dedicated leg machine for the last 2 months.

I don’t have it bolted to the floor, but weighed down with plates on the storage posts and pulley system. Also, I have the foot plates on the Levergym, which increase stability. I say try Pendulums on the Levergym at your own risk and if you do try, start light.

It depends on the attachment you’re using and what kind of a lat pulldown you are doing. If you’re locked directly under the roller pads and if you have the bench in the flat position…maybe. If you decline the bench for pulldowns, you should be okay. Or, if you do pulldowns like I show here, you will not bottom out because you can just position the bench farther away. @HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 11 ай бұрын
It depends. I have never and I doubt I will ever exceed the machine’s cable or lever arm capacity. If you are super strong, it may not go heavy enough for you. Before I got my second Levergym, I nearly got the Powertec Lat Pulldown Machine. However, when I started thinking about all the additional versatility of the lever arms, the Levergym just made more sense. Is, for example, the Powertec stand-alone lat pulldown better than the Levergym for cable exercises…probably. Does any lat pulldown match the versatility of the Levergym…absolutely not.
