My husband and I found room in our home for a throwaway 13 year old boy. We knew all of the family members and the living conditions. He was blamed for everything negative in his upbringing to that point. We never got any support from either parent, which was ok. He was a good guy who fallowed our few rules. No problems from him ever. After graduating high school he went on his own. He is thirty six now a wonderful father and husband. I asked him how he stayed out of government assistance. He laughed and said “my parents showed me what I never wanted to be like”. Then told me we were his best examples to show him what he wanted from life. Love this man so much.❤❤❤

This is why I would want to pay taxes. I don’t want to subsidize the hobbies of the rich, I don’t want to help pay for a fighter jet to be stocked with new missiles, I don’t give a shit about the DoD or the pentagon or anyone in Washington. But I will gladly contribute a cut of my paycheck to go to people like this, to feed him, to provide them with education at their level of learning, to help with their cost of housing. That is what “government” should be for: to help the citizens.

20 years from now you'll have paid plenty of taxes. You'll have seen good communities slip into urban blight. You'll realize many services offered to, "help" people like this cause them more harm than if the services didn't exist at all. You'll see the fact that the only time the US Fed does anything is when it earns private interests like the pharmaceutical and homeless industries billions of dollars a year. These companies profiteer human misery and tax dollars from well-meaning policy backed by folks like yourself who want to help. The fact is -giving drug addicts services that enable them to destroy themselves isn't, "help". Shelters are disgusting dangerous places where people are raped and murdered every day. Disability and welfare programs traps people in poverty. Medicaid is overwhelmed with fraud. Harm-reduction causes immense harm. And to top it all of... the meager resources for those who actually deserve help, like struggling families with young children, are completely overwhelmed by horrible people who truly don't deserve anything. You want to help? Learn valuable skills, earn a decent living, be an independent thinker, and foster a child like this kid so they don't grow up thinking they're too disabled to work and a Disability is their end-game.

If he's tried and his IQ is just not adequate for mainstream functions a group home placement with therapeutic work training would be appropriate for him. And he should have a court appointed legal guardian to look after his interests and make sure he getting the services he needs. How do you abandon your own child? Someone get this kid a lawyer so he can go after the employers who got rid of him for having a DISABILITY. People always try to argue things like this as if its justified, and it's not. You can tell by talking to a person in an interview if they are disabled mentally or a little "slow." If you take them on as an empliyee, you have to accommodate them. You cant hire them and then get rid of them due to being "slow" at learning. It's illegal and more people need to fight back against it. Ive worked my entire life. From 10 years old I lived and worked on a dairy farm. Got up at 3 A.M. to milk cows and bottle feed baby cows until time for school. Then I would get off the bus after school and do it all over again until dinner. Did that until I was 15. Then i got a job washing dishes at a local inn and restaurant. Saved up enough money to buy a car (that was a huge POS). I then got a job at McDonalds working full time hours all through highschool. After I graduated HS I got a job at a local flooring mill. It was a glorified fancy sawmill from rough end to finish line. Rough cut lumber to finished flooring in a box and ready to ship. We ran 150,000 linear feet per shift of finished flooring. I was a rip saw operater. At 19 years old and running a rip saw I blew my back out one night while pulling the 1"x3'x20' planks of wood to keep the rip saw fed. I hit the floor. Hurt to breathe. I had no idea what workmans comp was or anything. No one employee in that place or even my lead man or supervision told me about workmans comp. Not even HR (go figure, they are there for the company only). My supervisor actually patted me on my shoulder while I was being helped out to my car and said, "Hey, you get all fixed up and come on back when you're better." I was out of work for 7 months. Over a year of physical therapy and mounds of doctor bills. So now I'm in debt at 19 up to my ears. Living alone and paying all my own bills. After healing up i went back to the mill, and luckily a guy i worked with there was fixing to leave for a job on the road as a welder/mechanic. He needed a partner so I left with him. I learned how to weld and do all the mechanics in our trade and still doing the same job now at 37. The one caveat about all of this is the fact that my back has never been the same, ever. Now that I'm much older, it goes out all the time and causes me to miss work from time to time. More surgery is in my future for sure. The companies i work for and guys i work around have no disabilities, and act like it's all made up (even though i have provided proof of medical records to the companies). And if they aren't acting that way, they act passive aggressive or angry towards me for having to miss work here and there. They knew my back was messed up before they decided to work me, they knew I had a disability and chose to still take me on. But, they refused to try and accommodate me. I finally took a different job in the same field and it's almost the same as far as treatment goes. It's actually disgusting that employers and people without any type of disabilities treat people who have them. If an employer is going to hire managers/supervisors tmand other employees that are against working with people that have disabilities, then they need to just state that and stop always trying to circumvent the law and just not hire disabled people. Period. It doesn't help a disabled person to get hired and then treated like shit, and it doesn't help that employer to hire a disabled person and let them be treated like shit. Especially if they are a good worker, but just can't be 100% rvery single day of the year. Our system is so far beyond broken and it's sickening. Trying to get disability (which I've never done but have heard first hand stories about how hard it is) is a joke as well. They deny you time and time again. They deny for up to 3 years straight sometimes. So, how is a person that is actually disabled (proven by a doctor and signed off on by a doctor) supposed to survive while the people setting behind their desks basically play games with them. To see if they actually are going to go through with it or are serious about it, by denying their claims for years. It's a joke of a system.

He has a learning disability he really needed the support and the government will try every bit to prevent him from getting the help he needs because it means they will actually have to use money from the services that taxes actually pays for and there's no assistance so that money isn't even being used for what it's supposed to be used for on top of it a lot of people with learning disabilities are denied disability as well as the ones that are working are struggling significantly and paying taxes will getting good support from family but still can't get the proper support that was promised to them and then they get criminalized because they're on the street once the family that cares has passed away and they no longer have the assistance to even get that so they become the Forgotten the people that everybody seems to just treat like they don't matter. And the funny thing if they designed everything in the world to operate simple enough and easy enough for people with these kinds of learning disabilities then nobody would have those difficulties and there would be no stereotyping because everybody could do it it won't segregate specific people from society to be pointed out because everybody can do it the differences would not be apparent. So Engineers are constantly designing things without people with learning disability at mind so things are easy enough to navigate for people with learning disabilities but instead they make it very difficult and only those that don't have learning disabilities to be capable of doing it when they could design everything to be simple like Einstein said that had learning disability

@YukonJack I know there's a lot of people that really need the help and assistance, and they could benefit from not having to pay taxes and not needing the programs that don't do anything for them instead. Because there's a lot of people that have disabilities that are being denied and not getting any help for years and years of their life and they end up like this guy on the street eventually because all their family dies and then the country doesn't help them at all still and all the doctors psychologists are trying to not help with it because then they get in trouble it's really messed up how they treat disabled people and they lie and make money off of them all the time. There are so many different angles of people ruining and hurting and not helping by taking advantage of programs or help or things for people with disabilities that it literally fucks the people that need the help.

I became a plumber at 16 and life’s just tossed me around, I’ve had to sleep in my car, go to homeless shelters where I’ve had my life threatened, renting a room costs $1000 in Arizona now because of all the out of towners , snowbirds. I just feel hopeless sometimes and feel like I’m gonna be stuck in an endless money pit paying off other peoples mortgages. and my family could give less of a crap about my struggles, they’re off taking cruises, going on trips, but my dad could care less about his only son. I’m not the same person I used to be, I’ve lost pretty much all of my hobbies and my life has become work, pain. I just feel like my personality is being stripped away.

This is truly sad. I grew up in a great schooling environment and we had kids who spoke just like him. They were given their own classes, personal staff, and were held to their own personal standards. I remember three people in my high school grade with similar learning disabilities. All three went to college, and one just recently got accepted in law school. Every child deserves a chance.

He’s young men and young ladies need training. They need a place like a small apartment. And jobs that will be patient with them. A one task job. Something that’s repetition. That they can function with and succeed with. They cannot multitask. I have a grandson who is 20 years old, who cannot hold down a job because he cannot multitask. And he keeps losing his jobs because he cannot focus on nothing but one task at a time. I feel so sorry for these young adults who is being lost in the system. Thank goodness my daughter is trying her best to help him but he’s losing hope. They need hope. They need a chance. There is no jobs out there. There used to be factories where they would peel off cans and put new labels on them. But that’s overseas now. There used to be factories like that all over the place. That used to help handicap young adults. Where are they now. I am so upset. There is so many out on the streets that their parents has just thrown them out. Because they’re no longer in school. They’re no longer getting funds for them. I just can’t believe it.😢
