How many homeless people do not have an ID Card? Most people are OBLIVIOUS to the fact that without an ID Card, you cannot: • Get into a shelter • Get food stamps • Get a job • Get a hotel room • Get into a Salvation Army • Get food from a pantry • Get any healthcare • Get on Social Security • Get MediCal/Medicaid To add insult to injury, the cops STEAL Identification Cards from the homeless population to mess with them.

What would be a big help is to set up military like tents with cots, MASH units for skin lesions, Hep C., other problems. Showers and clean clothes. Just a few days a month you could even have medical students staff them and pay off student loans. That would be cheaper than giving money to so called outreach were salaries of $200 K and more going to a few top "executives" that do little to earn it.

I've been in Phoenix most my life. I lived on the streets for years, all over the state but mostly in Phoenix. A whole lot of the people out there didnt end up on the streets because of drugs, they started doing drugs after they were out there to help get through the day. Many of them are out there because they aren't sane enough to fit into the society we created and their families pushed them out and gave up on them. Even if you're on drugs you have to be crazy to just lay out in the open, on the pavement and sleep. The ones who aren't completely insane build camps in vacant fields or somewhere away from everyones sight. We knew that the ones sleeping out in the open like that were the batshit crazy ones to stay away from when I was out in the streets. A great many are schizophrenic. The public streets and parks have become open air insane asylums. I've seen people yelling at homeless people from their cars telling them to get a job, or stop doing drugs and stuff like that and I know the person they're yelling at is completely nuts and doesn't even do drugs because they dont have the mental capacity to even understand how to buy drugs and do them. Its pretty sad the state america is in, and its only getting worse.

You’re absolutely right. COVID happened, we both lost our jobs, apt, and vehicles. Ended up on the street for 2 years. Definitely an experience but we were around good people who looked out for one another. I have no regrets as it has taught me to never take a thing for granted. I’ve been sober ever since and am grateful to walk away with my heartbeat… I have my own home/bed to sleep in, a job, still with my hubby-he stayed on the streets with me (didn’t have to but he did so I wouldn’t be out there alone). It’s incredible the blessings we’ve been given by making positive choices❤ I’d like to contribute that when one is using, they don’t feel the heat or cold so much, appetite is still there but very seldom; and it is the best sleep ever. Getting back into the routine of eating healthy, hydrating, and healthy sleep patterns took work but is so worth loving ourselves.

Look at what's going on. This country this is everywhere now. But its not in other countries. Why is that? And here's something else. When you look at Mexico and South America and other parts of the world, their indigenous people are able to mix and mesh with society and be able to take up industry, do things, and build their life. Yet they can't do that here. In those places, there wasn't the hate that exists here so over time they could build themselves up and be mentored into how to change themselves. But you can't do that in this country. WHY? Because this country is full of hate. You can't get a job if people are taught to hate you. If they hate you, then they aren't going to give you a job or help you. This country is taught to leave people behind and to find reasons to NOT help you. Well now its too late. By the time you have millions doing street drugs its too late to help them. The time to help them would have been while they were growing up or in school or before they got hooked. And they are feeling there is no way to build in this country because of the spirit of immense pride, enmity, and hatred here.
