Hello friends! Make this delicious Homemade French bread recipe for pennies! This French bread works out to only be .78 cents a loaf! Please let me know if you try it out and what you think in the comments. The ingredient list is below at the bottom below.
I am recently diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis and have just recently had a heart transplant. This is where I document my medical journey as well as all things on our homestead. I live in Northern British Columbia in the wilderness on a private homestead with our 4 adorable chihuahuas that we adore, and a boatload of chickens.

***Homemade French Bread
Scald:
1 cup milk
Add to it:
2 cup very hot water
Proof:
7 tea. yeast
1/2 c. very warm water
2 T. sugar
Let sit 15 minutes then add 1 &1/2 T melted shortening
Mixing bowl:
8 cups flour
2 tea salt
4 tea sugar
Brush with beaten egg wash ( 2 eggs and 2 T. water)

Bake at 365 for 28-35 minutes approx. or until crispy and golden.
