Three things you could do to increase your cycle speed would be 1. To change the pump to a two speed pump so it has higher flow at low psi until it reaches the work. 2. Install a hydraulic accumulator tank which stores built up fluid from idle time pumping like a bladder tank on a well so you have twice the flow when you hit the lever. They sell accumulators at Surplus Center also. 3. Install a rephasing valve on it to recycle the fluid on the return stroke back into the circuit to double your return speed on the retract. Just some easy things that may help.

This is totally overbuilt and I love it. Very well designed and fabricated. I need one in my life! This had to take you over 100 hours of work. I'm building a 4 ft 100 ton press brake right now for bending 1/2 steel. Seeing this is motivating.

That, sir, is awesome! I was looking around for a DIY foot/hand shear, and found your video - WAY outside the usual DIY stuff. Great work!

Thank you. I've been using for about 2 weeks now and it's one of those, "Why didn't I build this years' ago?" type thing. It is saving hours of labor now and doesn't make the smoke that cutting stuff with the plasma table does and especially the stink and dust made by cutting things with a grinder or chop saw.

When he said 3 phase I was like, "Probably not a home shop." Then he said forklift. And then he said water jet. Anyway, nice build. It will cut 3/8" mild steel. Got get them PSI's.

Hi Paddy! How much did the top and bottom knife cost you? Even a rough estimate would help, Thank you so much!
@paddyb4314 жыл бұрын
Hi. They came as a set and were $1400.00 if I remember correctly. They are 50" wide and rated for 1/4" steel.

Do you have any example where I can buy drawings for a project like this? Best regards!

I don't, but if you find a machine online that you like, try and see if they show an operators manual as a pdf.

Awesome work. Out of curiosity, what did it cost you to build it?
@paddyb4313 жыл бұрын
I think I had about $5000 in it if I remember correctly. The main expense was buying a pair of shear blades.

What u can do is use manual hydraulic cylinder for top as a clamp , ever harbor freight 4-12 ton would clamp anything , just FYI if ur clamp won't hold ur piece
@paddyb4314 жыл бұрын
Hi Vik, thaks for the info, but the screw down clamp was patterned off my Edwards Ironworker and seems to work really well.

Wouldn't a spring loaded plate do the job. It would clamp the steel automatically
