That's a really nice flash card set with the blending sounds. If you know the brands to look for, you can score big time at the Dollar stores. The Alphabet bins are awesome!! I bet if you started when the kids were babies, you could collect trinkets over time. Of course your deal was awesome, but as a DIYer, I could totally see us collecting things over the years that don't just have the letters but also sentimental significance.

I love the idea of including things that have sentimental value - my son gives me little gems and things from his lego kits, and that would be a perfect addition!

I love the high lighter method! I'm definitely going to start that with my preschooler.

I'm so glad! If you have a Target in your area, they have a bunch of phonics tools out there at the dollar spot right now. I'll do a video soon, but it may be helpful to head out and check your Target now. Thanks so much for watching!

I've seen them every now and then on eBay - if I see them again, I'll let you know! The retail price is a bit ridiculous. Some people use those hardware drawers for bolts/nuts/nails to make their own. That's so clever, but I couldn't pass up this deal. I really like Hana's idea for popping in some sentimental trinkets.

I discovered that highlighter tip on Pinterest ages ago, and it made my son so much more willing to write when he was younger. My daughter is also enormously comforted by it. It creates just enough guidance and wiggle room for their handwriting practice. Thanks so much for watching!

I use a solid line highlighter for my daughter. She has visual issues and I've learned that if a child has visual problems sometimes things with dotted lines or dashes are hard for their eyes to translate into letters.

You definitely scored with the sound tubs! I purchased the ones from Lakeshore for $150!!!! And they only have 6 objects each, I’ve been adding to them as I stumble across little things around the house or while I’m thinking about it at different dollar or craft stores.

Oh, I didn’t realize the the original kit only came with a few items! Yes, I think I scored!! 🙂 Thanks for letting me know.

Oh, and I think Etsy has some sellers that sell mixed lot bags of tiny items. I was planning on doing an alphabet toolbox that way before running into the tub deal.

thanks for sharing all the things you use for teaching.. could you please do a video how the lesson can be done for phonics? thankssss i watched a lot of phonics related video but those are pretty boring, and i don't find them very useful and i would really love to see a real person teaching. not just from animation format..if you have time. thank you so much :)

How recently did you get the texture cards from dollar tree, i have seen them in a few peoples videos? i have looked and looked and can't find them! also I wanted to add this on here in case anyone is interested in buying the lakeshore learning tubs, they are wonderful, and we love them! but I will say if you get them new they come with less items than the one she scored off eBay! I am thinking whoever was selling them included some items of their own. or possibly lakeshore learning company has different items they include now, i don't have any of the same items for my P tub! it looks like the R tub has a couple of the same ones though! but the new set I bought a few months back comes with 6 items for each letter, as well as one plastic capital letter and one plastic lowercase letter! :)

+Tiffany Wright, I got the texture cards about a year ago. That's so sad about the lakeshore learning tubs! Mine came packed to the brim in several tubs. Either way, though, they're a great learning tool. Thanks so much for letting people know!

I really like the "Lots and Lots of Letter Tracing" book! I haven't seen that one. I ended up making my own for my girls and putting them on Teachers Pay Teachers because I wanted them in different sizes. But I may try these because I think she might not be as overwhelmed by it. Great tips, I love seeing what other people use.

My daughter loved the Tracing book this year - it really brought down her stress level over forming the letters, and her handwriting has improved dramatically, with very little effort on my part. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment!
