Same! Almost everything I’ve ever read about animals to my children they tell me they already learned about that from Wild Kratts. I love it.

LOVE that you adapt the curriculum to work for you! That's exactly what I like to do. We only do things a few times a week and not every day as well. :)

We are loving GH’s Junior Anatomy too! They have such a good mix of books, activities and KZfaq videos!

My 2nd grader always complains about reading but is super motivated by rewards. I may steal your dollar a book idea. Hey, whatever it takes to get them reading.

We use right start math and it has taught my kids really well. The only disadvantage is that it takes a lot of parent time.😊

Just letting you know...We got the Bear Grylls unit study too and are currently starting week 4. Let me tell you my kids beg for it. We start our homeschool day reading the chapters for the day and they get so excited every morning. And it puts them in a good mood to start in to the rest of their homeschool day. I didn't think it was going to go as well as it has!

For encouraging reading I printed the free reading log offered by the Good and The Beautiful. I printed the butterfly one for my preschooler. There are 30 circles and I have her put a sticker on each circle for each book that is read. Then once she fills in all 30 circles with stickers she goes to the prize box. It's in a clear notebook pocket to reuse over and over.

Definitely do what works for your family. This year, we are only doing science and history 1x a week, L.A. and math are every day on 3 different levels and a toddler for the chaos effect😉😅 ETA: I'm so glad your back! For IEW Structure and Style, my son just finished the final week of year 1A. He is in 5th grade. Here's my suggestions - watch the videos yourself over the weekend for the week ahead so you know what is taught and what is expected. You will also hear the students in the classroom share their writing. Also edit the rough drafts with notes so your child can improve. The videos themselves have advice and suggestions on the edits to make on your child's writing. Also listen to the IEW podcast for more tips on how to help kids write.

Sorry for all the comments… But so much to say! I LOVE IEW SSS. It has helped my struggling writer so much… But she doesn’t love it 😂

We stopped TGATB and started Addition Facts that stick. My daughters math facts are so much better. We made a shift mid year and are currently using Math With Confidence and it’s been a game changer. I may be crazy for switching mid year but we can literally get two MWC lessons done in the time it was taking us to complete one TGATB lesson. Granted we’ll slow down once we hit the things she hasn’t learned but I wanted to start from the beginning and let her learn the Kate Snow way. It’s been amazing so far. I’m with you…slow and steady. We’re not in a race.

What level TGATB was your daughter in? And which MWC did you put her in? I think I'm selling it for sure now and getting MWC I just hope they keep making the upper grade levels quickly so we don't have to switch again.

My girls were all doing the new versions of the good and beautiful math. My 6th grader got so frustrated with level 5 that we switched her mid year. Then I made the choice to switch my kindergartner now to MWC because she just started level k of TGTB math so I figured I should just switch her. My middle was closer to finishing level 2 TGTB math but then it started teaching multiplication out of no where and I didn’t love it at all. So I just quit her TGTB math and got the addition facts that stick and subtraction facts that stick and am teaching her other things through random worksheets. Level 3 of MWC comes out this summer and I’m excited to switch her to that.

I saw that they were coming out with level 3 and I'm excited. I'm glad I haven't started TGTB yet because I think I might not like it lol. I was just looking over it again today and then I put it up for sale. I just love how simple MWC is. I'm going to have all my younger kids do it. I just hope they start pumping out higher levels fast because I don't wanna have to switch again.

We started Essentials in Writing this semester. I don’t think it does exactly the same type of writing, we have been pleased with it and they do offer grading (but it is only available for certain months and comes on sale I think I saw in May). There are short video lessons daily.

I have the apologia Bible curriculum and I am excited to use it with my kids. What ages are your kids? Mine are 6.5 and 4.5, but I don't want to do it too soon and have it be over their heads.

My kids are 13, almost 9, 7, 5, and 4. I would probably wait until they are a little older. My 5 and 4 year old sit in on it but I'm not sure how much they are really retaining.

We ended up dropping Sassafrass Zoology last year. I feel like there was just so much filler around the story and science facts were buried. We did Math w/ Confidence K-1 and Addition Facts that stick and we enjoyed it. Lots of games and the lessons were quick and sweet. Hope the upper levels come out quickly. We’re just starting IEW and I’m a bit overwhelmed. Haven’t found the time to read/watch all the things. I kind of just started it and we’re doing KWO’s. Really think the program is excellent. I did find a lady who teaches IEW and there is a once a week online class. Maybe she corrects things? It’s kind of expensive but thinking I may do it next year to just take something off my plate.

It’s called Writing Essentials- home based online writing class for grades 3-9 using IEW curriculum.

We are halfway through the old G&B level K and I’m over it….I’m not sure why really I guess it seems so tedious and too much reading and explanation I guess? I was doing it with my two oldest at the same time. I’m not sure what we are going to do, I’m leaning towards doing abeka math on video, it’s spendy to pay for the single subject but I think it will help me so I can work with my first grader on language arts while the other is doing the math video. We are stuggling to have a good flow, I think it’s mostly just because of their close ages, it’s mostly chaos lol

Yes!! I started G&B K with my 5 uear old last year and we were causing through it and liking it, but I haven't picked it up in a long time and I don't really want too lol. I think I'm with you on all the extra fluff, especially when you have to many close together. I totally get the feeling of chaos 😆 I need quick and easy as much as possible.
