I would do a "barndominium". If we ever have the finances to move again and get even more property and build from scratch, that's what we would do. Metal building on a slab designed to look like a house. They can be pretty reasonable. Finish out the inside yourself. ALSO, I appreciate this actual "building a homestead" in a realistic timeframe. Another youtuber that shall remain nameless LOL is doing a "building a homestead in 100 days" (ie clearing some more acreage on their existing property) and I'm pretty sure it was just a BS method of getting more views. Love you guys. You will always be my favorite!

Well, maybe you‘re watching ‚Jake and Nicolle Off Grid‘, they’re living in a yurt and they only have one baby son and feel cramped in the yurt by now … So I’m guessing you’d need more yurt than one. I’ve also seen videos about the not so healthy side effects of container homes since you never know what they’ve been used to ship for … But I’m sure you’re already thinking of all this 🙈 And on the other side a yurt is by far the fastest solution, I mean professionals put that thing up in a mere couple of days 😅👍🏼 Great video and thank you for letting us be part of the journey! 😊❤

Dude, I feel you on that divide and conquer. We’ve had 2 properties to maintain all year while we tried to get our new house renovated where we plan to homestead and get the old house ready to sell. It’s very taxing. Y’all stick with it, time flies. Not just when you’re having fun. We just got our first chickens, will start a garden in the spring and add more animals as we get comfortable. Congrats on the anniversary and thank you for taking the time to make videos among all of the other things y’all have going on.

Can't wait to see what you guys are up to. I really love watching people get into the homestead life. No matter if that means it's on grid or off grid.

Have you considered making a list of each of these steps with estimated deadlines, timeliness, and costs? Being super organized reduces paralysis analysis and helps keep things on track.

Have I ever lied to you? LOL We built our home from scratch in 1999... and it's still not finished. lol Goals are good. You'll be ahead of the game before you know it! 🧓💖

I know you know what you are doing. My priority would be to build a barn that has winter facilities, ie inside access to pens and water from inside set up fencing etc. But preparing sites for anything else, like out and other outbuildings. Build bigger barn if you can.

The traditional 15th anniversary gift is crystal. Maybe you could work in a crystal (or crystal-like) feature into the house to commemorate that you were there for your 15th anniversary. Maybe a window or a glass panel in a door somewhere could have leadlight or something like that. Or a crystal light fitting/shade somewhere. Just something so every time you look at it you think of what you achieved in one year 🙂 You guys were so cute in your wedding photos! If the cliffhanger (is that the word you were looking for?) for the podcast is a vote on what type of house, I'll right now put in an anti-vote for a yurt. They look really cute, but a house is not truly a home until there are pictures on the walls, and hanging pictures in a yurt will not be fun!

Dog update? I just got a 25% belgian malinois, and 75% German shepherd 6 mo old puppy for our homestead. And a pit/husky mix.
