For everyone asking, the black pipe was cheaper than PVC in my area. As for painting it, both ABS and PVC pipe will start to degrade in the sunlight; UV light is not friendly to plastic. I painted it a cream color so that it has a nice, shiny finish, thus helping reflect more of the light. I hope everyone enjoys the video. Don't forget to subscribe. I didn't realize drill bits came in small , medium and large. Mine all have fractional measurements.

I’m sure other’s mentioned it in some way, but just to be clear. ABS is not PVC and black pipe is ABS. Neither white PVC or black ABS are UV stable and will degrade with UV light. The paint will help a bit, but it will likely warp and peel pretty quickly under hot sunlight, and eventually it’ll become brittle. It’s possible that it could happen within a single summer in the right place.

With a small soup can or something a comparable size you can put a citronella candle on the top part and you can decide whether you want the light on or the citronella candle. It helps when there’s mosquitoes and there’s multiple ways of using the same device.

You can use accent colors to complement your house, even shape the wood differently, scallop the bottom of the pipe.... the options are

Just for the record. The black pipe is ABS [acrylonitrile butadiene styrene]. White plastic pipe is PVC [poly vinyl cloride]
