The Barco Residential Freya - A Luxury Projector and the Best Projector we have ever seen !

In this video we unbox our very own Barco Residential Freya that is going into our showroom here in Perth WA. We will be the only showroom in the Southern hemisphere equipped with the Wisdom, Trinnov, Parasound combination. An $800,000 room to showcase our capabilities and demonstrate what is possible at the highest level of demanding Luxury Bespoke Home Cinema and room the rest of us can enjoy!
Our aim to to be able to fully demonstrate these products and ensure we are skilled up and experienced with the best products in the world. To be able to provide the highest standard or design, advice, supply and installation anywhere in the world for all customers, from beginners to high net worth individuals with bespoke requirements.

Great video gents. Love how you are showing the elite but explaining why it's elite. Also adding humility in the process. Great to see a dealer from little ol Perth doing such huge things. Can't wait to see the finished room. World class for sure 🙂

Andrew: Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. If it weren't for you I would never have access to these incredible feats of engineering. As you say most of us cannot afford something like this (or a Bugatti for that matter) but it is nice to know it exists. I cannot believe that your channel doesn't have more subscribers, as your content is always outstanding. I always make a point of leaving you a like because all of your videos are worth it.

Hi Carlos, I likely will never own one either but Its great to be able to enjoy these feats of engineering. There is always something new being achieved and over time it trickles downstream so its a look into the future. Thank you also for your kind support and words of encouragement. This was a while ago. If you take a look at our room build you can see this is matched to a Trinnov Altitude 32 and a bank of Parasound amplifiers and then a large array of wisdom line array speakers. Its an $800,000 AUD room and is rated by many as one of the best they have heard and seen. We are very proud of the outcome.

Love to see how good this looks compared to the rental versions I'm used to using. would be great to do a side by side comparison to showcase what DCI brings to the party in terms of accuracy.

When we get a chance we will do a side by side comparison but the question is with what? Having now seen this in action it has actually left me speechless and is unlike anything I have seen in this industry.. ever… by a decent margin. Simple incredible detail, dynamics blacks and stunningly clear whites with pixel perfect precision. I was simply stunned..

@@HomeTheatreEngineering I can only imagine how good it looks. pre Covid the default for most rental Barcos was the UDX range. they are technically a lot brighter and did suffer from convergence issues but they were at least in the events industry considered one of the more accurate projectors at the time in the Barco range.

Will this do Dolby Vision since it has a very high light output (like the Christie Projector in the commercial theaters such as AMC Dolby Cinemas)?

what is the on/off contrast and the ANSI?? have you got the chance to do any measurements?

Have a look at Barco’s website the stats are there and they will amaze you. Not because they are massive 55 gazzillion :1 Contrast ratio but because they are genuine real world figures For the Freya these are .3,000:1 Full field / 950:1 ANSI. I am pretty sure my measurements when taken will reflect this. What I can say is I have NEVER seen as high a contrast image and it is simply spellbinding. You can ignore most contrast ratio numbers and on/off contrast ratios are not worth a pinch as there is no time where the “off state” occurs when watching any content at all. One if the things we love about Barco is they keep it real. Hope that helps.

No this is the Freya at 7500 lumens which is more than plenty for this room

Could the Freya do a 14 feet high by 22 feet wide screen? Thor+ can do 98 feet in width!

Further to that though check the numbers. The Freya is 7500 lumens the Thor+ is 32,000 lumens nearly 4.3 times the light output. Hardly a comparison. The Thor+ also carries the price ticket to match.

@@HomeTheatreEngineering That's why i am looking at the Freya, the Thor and Thor + are mega money. any video of the Freya would do, i just want to see this compared to the Loki. i was thinking about the Loki or the Njord until i seen this video, didn't want a single chip that's why i was looking at the Njord!

@@HomeTheatreEngineering I ordered the Freya, i live the uk. it's going to be a big Stewart filmscreen with Trinnov in a dedicated home cinema for my kids. and i already have two sim 2 nero 4s projectors with krell and Wilson audio for myself. i want them to have the cinema experience at home!

For what application and what design sound system and what seating configuration in what room size. Or are you asking just how big can this go? In which case in theory up to a 12 metre 1.2 gain screen. This is a native 4096 x 2160 DCI compliant projector so as long as you hit 14.7 ft lamberts as a minimum in BT.709 then you are ok.

@@HomeTheatreEngineering No I meant what screen will you be using? I got the impression it was going to be installed into your demo room? There's much to love about DLP I would be concerned with the black floor. Going to demo the GTZ 380 and new small form factor Christie this vinter for my theater upgrade. I am hoping that I am not bothered with the black floor. Doesnt have to be perfect just not that grey haze in dark scenes, thats my thresshold. But yeah, what a beast that Freya!! :)

What's the difference between Freya and Njord?

The Njord is blue laser phosphor while the Freya is RGB laser. The Njord is Pulse platform with Prospector and WARP engine while the Freya is Web Commander with and DCI complaint. Its a bad comparison to make but think kind of lossless vs compressed audio. The Freya is video purity with no deviation from perfect pixels while the Njord is capable of optically clever feats of cunning. For pure images its Freya…but The Njord is stil; absolutely amazing.

@@martinvegas1327 So heres the interesting thing..we actually tried to shoot some video footage but it looked awful. Not sure why atm but we suspect something to do with laser frequency.. we will keep trying :-)

Sony gtz is smaller and brighter than this. please don't write off Sony. Sony makes some world class professional products from high end cameras to high end displays. that is what real innovation looks like,. whatever movie you display in this home cinema projector ,most of it graded through Sony mastering monitor. so please don't bash other brand's lower cost products and compare with this. have you seen how sharp Sony g master or sony high end projector lens are? you can keep on bragging about this projector, but just don't bash other products without proper comparisons.

No one is bashing Sony and we massively respect Sony for what it does well. But on the flip side every brand has its weaknesses including Barco Trinnov etc. nothings perfect. However there are also reported issues that Sony had experienced with lasers. The Sonys we do refer to are those that are cost comparative but they also don’t have some of the capabilities of the Barco. Everything is relative.

C'MON fellas, let's be not only honest, but realistic...this is NOT a home theatre projector by any stretch of the imagination...who realistically has not only the room, but budget for something like that...? Can we please keep home theatre engineering to just that alone...??

I am sorry your wrong here. This is Barco RESIDENTIAL projector. Key word residential. They even mention this is out of reach for the average joe for sure but as a KZfaq channel that is like the aTOP GEAR of audio video then why not show it off. No different to showing off a Ferrari in top gear we all love to watch but can’t afford necessarily What’s the issue? It’s all fun

Also it was mentioned the room is 7.5m x 6m That’s like my room so you can use it in every day home size. If you have the budget. But why Discriminate against people who do have the money.

Hi thanks for your comment however we addressed this in the video. We will continue to look at all products at each end of the spectrum. From entry level DIY to the best of the best. You would also be surprised at how many of these are sold. Enjoy seeing what is possible. We watch SPACEX launches but unlikely we will own our own spaceships. Enjoy it. We don’t need to own everything that exists! And yes this is a home theatre projector just not for all of us!

YT car presenters showcase a wide variety of cars. One off million dollar units, cheap run arounds and everything in between. They exist, so show them off. So what if you or I cannot afford to buy them. Enjoy the show.Same applies to HTE. They present all manner of projectors, amps, speakers & processors. Why should HTE limit themselves to showcasing what you think they should? So nothing from Wisdom or Trinnov either? No way. I want to know what there is - from budget to top of the range and enjoy watching the presentations. Thanks Andrew and Vince for part 1 of the Barco Freya.
