Got this very issue with my 2012 Accord typeS idtec this week..! First issue with the DPF or any DPF in the last 20 years of driving diesel vehicles.. Booked in for a DPF clean this week at my local mechanic who's part of the Terraclean network.. fingers x'd it works.. 😮😮

Honda Accord MK8 owner here. Great video and best explanation so far. I'm onto my third forced regent in around 12 months and pretty sure I'll need a diagnostic and service like this soon. The hard part is knowing I take my car for those long drives and rev it hard where I can. I wonder if the DPF is a weakness in this particular car.

Yes it is definitely a weakness on these 2.2 hondas and it's a pain in the backside sometimes a clean and reset will still only last a couple months

A thing to check is that you don't have the oil too full, a level halfway between the dipstick min and max marks on level ground is the limit. For some reason this affects the DPF regeneration, forced regens are fairly stressful for the engine and exhaust so if you can avoid them it is a good thing. I'd suggest getting an OBD tool that can monitor the differential DPF pressure, if that starts to increase then you can try adding some DPF cleaner and then go for a half hour drive at 2,000 rpm or so on a decent dual carriageway. However, sometimes there is no substitute for Jimmy and his Launch Tech gun and fluid. My 264,000 mile Accord 8th gen iDTEC has just had this treatment and it's back to great performance again. Worth the money certainly.

@@BrianMorrison Hi Brian, thanks for that. At this point I've tried almost everything I can think of, including frequent oil changes with recommended 0w30 ACEA C2... Even the dealership are at a loss beyond replacing the DPF. I've got a scanner but it is fairly limited even with live data, showing no fault codes and low pressure with low particulate matter. Just an absolute nightmare of a car. At least it has heated seats though! 🤦

@@mingtooter My backside stays cold I'm afraid. If you can get it to Jimmy then you may find things get better.

These scan tools are useless 🤣rac Man with his latest greatest tech gets it wrong my issue was a vapourisr less than 200 quid 🤣🤣🤣😏

Wouldn't say the scan tools are useless but no matter what tech you have it all comes down to experience at the end of the day 👍🏻

Wheres the ash 😂😂😂🤣😂, diesel owners are being taken for mugs

Most vehicles now calculate ash and catalyst /DPF age & miles and will just chuck a code saying it needs to be replaced. Luckily like I show here it's rarely ever true 👍🏻
