In this video, i teardown a BAXA Transmission out of a 2001 Honda Accord with a 2.3, Common problem with these units is the 2nd clutch material flakes off the clutch disc, overhauled and worked real nice. Thanks for watching. Gary

Hey Gary, Pleased to meet you firstly. My name is EJ, a regular guy from Venezuela, with a not-so-regular car in this country Accord 2000. I've seen a couple of your great videos on KZfaq and wanted to ask you en-lightment if possible, with my mystery box. I used to be a happy owner of a 2000 Accord 2.3 automatic transmission. But some months ago, the (BAXA) transmission started slipping. No D4 light flashing whatsoever, only a long D4 flash at car start when switching the keys before ignition. The thing is, that when in normal D4, it shifted fine 1st, 2nd, 3rd and then near 3000RPM, it slipped. I had to take my foot off the gas and then gently let it accelerate until passed 3000 RPM for it to shift to 4th. Some other times, the slipping occurred from 2nd to 3rd, and the same gently acceleration to get it over 3K RPM and 40 MPH. So, I took the car to a transmission shop. 2 weeks ago. In a nutshell, the mechanic made me rebuild the torque converter and install an overhaul kit (banner kit). BUT. (here comes the doubt) The car now slips when accelerating, switching FROM 1st To 4th gear, NO 2nd and 3rd gear changes. The mechanic checked with manometers and there is NO oil pressure in 2nd and 3rd drums. 1st and 4th are 120 psi, though. Now, the estrange thing algo is that being a 2000 model, uses however an OBD-I port, which makes it more difficult to check. But we managed to find a proper scanner tool, and it comes with P1273 which tells me something about the solenoid B, but according to the mechanic, they've checked that all solenoids are getting correct signals and acting as the should. Is there ANY tip, ENLIGHTMENT, support o something that could help us find solution to this issue, please? Very thankful upfront for your time to read these words. Warm regards, Eleazar J. Marquez.

Very cool! I just acquired a 2001 accord, with roughly 200k on the clock. It runs & drives well, but I was considering doing an overhaul on the transmission . What timing! It's always a pleasure to watch trans videos on Sunday morning. Hope you're doing well sir. Side not, what chaos NY has become? 😒😔 Stay safe.

Great video. I may just have to get inside my 2001, BAXA, with a semi hard shift into 2nd with a flare. Changed the fluid and found the solenoid "A" and LUCS screen was dirty and on of the 3 screens in the A& B liner solenoids was dirty , but still have the issue although not as bad. Have your ever adjusted the linear, clutch solenod "A" & "B:pentagon screws on the end to adjust the clutch pressure? Also is it recomended to toss in a rebuild/new torque converter when doing these over huals?

I never really adjusted the linears, you probably have a worn out 2nd clutch

Gary, what do you think about installing the Japanese version? MCJA in place of the BAXA?

Im not so sure that will work. I had a similar problem, i couldn't get this Honda SUV to work correctly no matter what i did, after going crazy for a few weeks i came to the conclusion the wrong transmission was installed in the car. I wouldn't do that, leave the BAXA

Most common problem is the filter clogging up due to clutch disc's coming apart or converter lining coming apart

Thanks Gary. I am going to buy the Deluxe kit and do a DIY on my 99 Acura. Would be the first transmission overhaul but I think that it is doable if I am very careful.
