Had mine nearly two years now and I don't think this is a great 'beginner bike' If someone just jumps on this bike after they passed their test they are going to be scared (a CB500 will do nicely). On the other hand if you have previously been on a 125cc this is a great beginner 'big' bike. The CB brought down their power from 97.5 hp from last generation to gain more torque and with that I find this bike better than the hornet series. With any inline 4 you have to remain in the power band and if you do that on B roads this is a joy. Was thinking about getting an MT09 but what a bike this is.

I found it a very kind bike to start on because of the inline 4 power band meaning it’s very linear. But you do have to be sensible because it can definitely get going. For fresh starter I think a cb500 would be better however can become a little lack lustre at high speed.

I've ridden a 125cc scooter and a 400cc scooter pretty much every day for the past year, through winter and heavy rain aswell, I'm now thinking of getting this bike as my 1st geared bike. Am I being dumb?

.....I'm traumatized at the moment because I have to choose between a DRZ400 and a CB650F.....and living in the middle of Australia it's not as straight forward as you'd think. We have heaps of riding in the desert......and the highway does have some sections of unlimited speed.

How about cb1000r for your next bike on say a 19 plate ?

They are a lovely bike and very nice to ride everyday however I have ridden one before and there is nothing wrong with them, they are just not that exciting compared to other nakeds in the class. I find the way the ride very vanilla as such without too much character. No problems with the bike just that an inline 4 engine needs to be revved and is much happier high in the rpm and is bit dull at low rpm which you spend a lot of time in on the street.

Does the radiator gets dirty in wet roads?

Yes it’s does and it does actually eventually wear out the radiator. I have seen that on some of these bikes

Unsure yet, I would love a super duke however out of the price range at the moment. Still selling the bike at the moment haven’t made my mind up yet. Any suggestions

Can't really suggest anything, I'm looking at getting a CB650F next year maybe, sounds like the perfect all rounder for me, but I'm also still looking at the MT 07, XSR700, Tracer 700 sort of bikes. The CB I guess cruises nicer at highway speeds, and being a bit heavier it should be more stable, saw a review of a guy saying it feels both light and heavy at the same time lol, will have to test ride bikes back to back, good luck selling ! 👍

@@richfromlondon3254 nothing new yet, still on my GS500, but my preference keeps changing, so hard to decide, still looking at the CB650F, Tracer 700, XSR 700, but now also 3rd gen SV650 and GSXS 750. Will have a lot of bikes to test ride when the time comes, haha 😁 What bike do you want to get or have ?

@@RyaNewGame I have a grom but now looking for a second more powerful bike. I have a very similar list to yours: mt07/xsr700, cb650r, sv650, cb500x, 675 street triple r and a trident. I've got a lot of test riding to do too!

Yh that was only as I was no longer commuting far and only riding 2 or 3 miles since filling up but on the motorway I could easily get 50+
