Update on my Honda Civic Diesel Tourer at 145k miles. Not much of an update as nothing has gone wrong! But a few people have asked how it's going, so here's the news.

Just completed the North Coast 500 in mine,1850 mile round trip and an astonishing 71.3 mpg. What a fantastic vehicle. 😊

Once owned a Civic Areodeck, loved it so I'm considering one of these, do a lot of hiking so a spacious boot is a must. Do you think you could sleep in the boot with the seats down?

Funny old company, Honda…. They (like BMW) promised us 30 years ago that they would never make a diesel. Both Companies then went on to make some of the best diesels ever made.

Not sure if you knew, but in the center slide back panel behind the gearstick (where it has 2 cupholders), you can remove totally or move the central cup divide. Should be room for your sunglasses, but obviously you lose your cup holders. My daughter discovered this and it blew my tiny mind! 😊
@johndglynn5 ай бұрын
Thanks but yes I knew this. The cupholders are permanently occupied 😬☕️😀

Best car I've owned, so reliable, word on the bulbs ,I looked at doing it myself but ended up taking it to Halfords ,the guy changed it in about 2 minutes without removing the battery, I was surprised to say the least. Also my tourer is coming up to 95k and I'm a bit concerned about the life left in the clutch, no sign of any problem just wondering what milage people are getting from one. Great video and review by the way.
@johndglynnАй бұрын
Yes have changed bulbs now with no battery removal. Super fiddly but all okay. My clutch is at 150k miles and no sign of an issue. I guess it depends on where most of your miles are done 👍🏻
@The_Touring_Jedi4 ай бұрын
Only issue I have noticed with Tourer are those rubber seals around the doors. They are pretty low quality and are mounted somehow cheap. But this is only small thing I have noticed by far.

Hello from Italy (Alps area)! I'm very happy with having bought this car. Low consuption, big versatility with family. I'm sorry about the closure of the factory in UK 😔. I don't no why here in Italy there are very few of them around...( I have also Honda Jazz)

About the headlights. Mine has two low beam projectors in each headlight plus the high beam reflector. The high beam has also been modified by previous owner, so it has really bright Xenon bulbs.
@johndglynn5 ай бұрын
My high beams are fine and bright, just miss a bit in the dip beam. I’m reluctant to add an aftermarket kit and potentially add unreliability into an otherwise reliable vehicle. The bulbs are a bugger to get to so I don’t want to be lightless one cold dark night somewhere 😀
@cossiedrifter5 ай бұрын
@@johndglynn I think my low beam is okay. Brobably has something to do with the twin projectors. Some cars have it and some don't. No idea why.

Had the 1.6 diesel hatch for over two years now. I don't mind the fidgety ride but the driving experience isn't great. The plusses way outweigh the car's shortcomings tho so I'm just accepting it as a package.

I have a pre facelift model with older halogen headlights. Was sesrching all around the internet some headlights with lenses also halogen or some aftermarket LED but there is absolutely nothing to found for Tourer. Can somebody give me some info regarding some pre facelift headlights LED? It seems there are none online.

@dave60183 ай бұрын
@johndglynn I actually wanted a diesel HR-V 2018-2019, but Honda lags on things like Android Auto, meaning the only option is the MK10 Civic. Don't get me wrong, it has great specs, but it rattles a lot. I do like the CR-V, but apart from my bi-yearly commute to Southampton, I think it will be too much car.

Better quality then some premium out there. At 140k miles I had broken flywheel on my Passat B8 Station Wagon 2.0 tdi. So glad I sold that crap and bought 1.8iVtec Tourer as i drive lot of short trips and also travel 3-4 times a year making around 25k miles per year.Cheers

Hi John thanks for the vids. I stumbled across while looking for reviews on the Civic tourer and you done a good job so I’m getting one. What spec is yours I’m looking for the EX as it has leather, it’s easier to clean up having younger boys who both play rugby and get the back covered in mud and so on. My current car is a V50 Drive which I love and the civic seems an almost perfect replacement have you any tips on what niggles I should look out for? Many thanks Andrew
@johndglynnАй бұрын
Hi Andrew, I had a V50 as a company car when they were new. Great cars but too many bent wheel rims 🤣 nothing really to look out for other than regular oil changes, no mad MOT fails showing poor maintenance and decent tyres showing people who care about good quality. Happy hunting!

Great cars, I had a pre facelift model in white estate also, the fuel economy blew me away. I got an actual indicated 75mpg at 70 mph on a journey from Dublin to Galway, my only gripe is the engine is a wee bit noisy at low speeds in city driving.

I made the mistake in 2014 of buying a very low mileage 1.8 petrol Tourer (2000 miles) I absolutely hated the performance it was too sluggish and noisy for me I should have bought a Diesel, I kept it less than 6 months ended up buying a little Volvo V40 D2 it was marginally better but the reliability was shocking flat batteries and brake warning and ABS malfunctions, I should have got a Civic Diesel but at the time there were none for sale anywhere as they were so much in demand on the nearly new used market. I have a 2020 CRV 1.5T AWD now bought new and it does everything I could ever want from a car, Honda really know how to screw a car together.

Sounds great! What’s the mpg like?
@Azureecosse4 ай бұрын
Very good on the motorway with the adaptive Cruise on set at 60mph on a along run I usually get 54mpg in eco mode and it can stay in 6th gear all day long even on inclines it maintains a constant speed no need to change down, around town 34mpg on the eco mode, for a petrol of its size I think that's very good@@johndglynn

@vladimir99424 ай бұрын
@@johndglynn I've recently got hatchback version, same gen and engine, and it came with this problem. It's my first time owning a diesel car and I don't know how likely fuel contamination occurs. Normally, diesel fuel filters should have valve to drain water at the bottom but this model doesn't and filter itself is in an awkward place. Lift should definitely help if you ever want to service the fuel filter yourself.
