I'm really starting to dig into the Honda CRF450L build and I've completed several pretty cool Honda CRF450L mods so far. This isn't a full build video necessarily, but rather just an opportunity to update you on my current Honda CRF450L mods list and share some of my plans for future mods on the bike. These mods will work both for the Honda CRF450L or Honda CRF450RL so whichever model you have, hopefully you can find some sweet dual sport mod ideas for your own bike.

Love your vids! I played games in the 80s with graphics and audio exactly like your intro, and every time I watch your videos I get to roam down computer-game-memory-lane! Good luck with the RL build, though just getting an RL means you already won the lottery. I just cancelled my RL order after waiting more than 5 months and having Honda bump it out each month. Tired of being played. Picking up a brand new 690 Enduro R this weekend instead. Going to be selling a boatload of Brand New RL upgrade parts that I purchased while waiting for my RL...all NIB. I have a GET ATHENA ECU with Wifi and Switch; FMF Q4 and Megabomb header, Seat Concepts standard seat, x2 Twin Air Backfire-proof filters with aluminum filter cage, PC Racing Air filter gasket, x2 Honda exhaust manifold gaskets, Honda Service Manual, G2 Throttle tamer, Left and right control levers, 12 Oclock labs tail tidy, AXP Radiator guards, 450RX frame guards, and MVi adapter to mount an FMF Q4 on the stock header. It sucks that I won't be able to use all these on an RL, but I am tired of waiting and the Europeans have somehow been able to deliver. The Japanese took over the market from Europe in the 60s...now the Europeans are able to supply bikes and the Far East cannot. Heck, even Triumph is releasing MX bikes in a year or two. In five years we will all be riding Euro bikes because the Japanese manufacturers literally gave up all their market share during covid and the years after. Mark my words, gents! Hahahaha, just kidding.......but think about it.....Looking forward to seeing where you take the build! John T. Young adventurized it, are you going that route or keeping it a dual sport?

Definitely get an ECU and the Adventure Spec mini fairing but make sure you get the clear screen. And it’s definitely not too much bike. When you get the ECU you can turn on traction control which will drop the power in low traction environments. It’s great.

I love the flatlands racing skid plate on my DRZ. I've bashed it a few times already and the only thing I've had to replace are the screws that hold it on 🤣. I recommend watching Born A Goon channel, he did reviews on the ECU programmers for the 450, he went with the Athena GET vs the AIM and Vortex. Really good channel and well done too. Can't wait for the 450 wheelies! Haha

Coming together nicely. I just got rid of a Yamaha 450fx and replaced with a DRZ. The 450s are a lot of bike to handle, particularly on single track. Really eyeing a Honda 450RL for a sumo bike though

Bikes looking good! Hope you can get the thing to where you enjoy riding it after spending all that money on it. Sounds like the item that really matters is that ECU and in some cases a recluse. All adding up to some big dollars, but should be a lot of fun hopefully. Oh, I just realized Rocky Mountain is hooking you up! Fun fun!

I'm just hoping the G2, AiM, and Rekluse are the secret sauce that get this bike smoothed out and stall proof. With any luck might be trying a Harescramble with mine soon. You definitely got a great look and such with yours started.

It will smooth it out. I will say the AiM ECU is amazing for experienced 450 riders however the bottom end hit can be to harsh for newer riders. The Athena Get is far more linear while solving all the RL’s bad traits.

Hi Dork. I just picked up a used 21 450RL, and had the same feelings as you regarding rideability and jumpy throttle. The G2 definitely helped, as did a JD tuner to add some more fuel in different ranges which also is nice in that the bike doesn’t get nearly as hot. Now it doesn’t stall randomly at low throttle nearly as much as before. I’m still not 100% happy with it but can see a lot of potential, so I ordered an AIM and a flywheel weight from Tacomoto to see if this can be a bike to replace my normal dirtbike (GasGas EC250 2 stroke) and handle harder adv stuff that I don’t want to take my big bike on. It has a LOT of potential to be a great do it all kind of bike.

Get the ecu. Not the tuner. Get the ecu. GET THE ECU!!!!! It’s a completely different and better bike with it. You won’t regret it. Owning a 450 L and not getting the ECU is like taking a shower without any soap. Get the ECU

Nice ride there , was wondering about the seat height now with a Seat Concepts seat on it . If I can get room in my garage a smaller bike than my Tenere is on the list , loading that Tenere is an experience and the 450L is high on the list unless they make a rally version .

I just added a Seat Concepts Comfort XL to mt 2022 CRF450RL yesterday. I got the Throttle Tamer but I haven’t put it on yet because I want to get new grips and guards but I haven’t decided which ones I want yet.

Invest in a Rekluse Radius Cx clutch before the Vortex. Try Fast Flex bars, I would like a review of how much Fast Flex helps in suspension / hand / wrist comfort.

Did you bolt your zeta hand guards to your triple tree, or to the handlebars? I want to swap mine from the handlebars to the triple tree on my Rally, but I can not find the brackets to fit them anywhere... Everything is such a tight fit on the Rally. I laid it over once in the mud, and the guard moved just a little bit, and now it’s rubbing against another part like the reservoir or something... Triple tree mount just seems like the way to go...

I’ve never seen one on here. I sat on one yesterday, that thing is a lot taller than I ever expected it to be, but I am pretty short at 5’7”, 5’8” with boots, but I still can’t even tip toe each side, I literally have to hang off one side of the bike. That’s the real reason I went with a 300. But I still like the 650l, it’s a tried and true bike.

Like the bike can't stand the red . If I get a 450L it's going to get a color change . I have seen ones with 95% black and a little red , that's the direction I was thinking .

@@hardworkingamerican8847 where do you find parts to do something like that? Before I bought my 300 Rally, I wanted that black and gray 250 Rally that Honda only made for one year in 2018. Now that I have the red bike I’ve just become accustomed to it... But if I knew how to change the color, other then purchasing just a graphics kit, I would still do it... I only need 3 parts, well 5 altogether, the front fender, the 2 fork guards, and 2 upper fairings. But I was told that the parts off the 2018 250 wouldn’t fit the 300... But I have seen a picture on the internet of a black 300 Rally...

@@airadaimagery692 It was a graphics kit I am guessing but you never know these days with 3D printers some custom body work and paint big daddy warbucks etc . Anyway it's just my taste in color for different things . I like that color but it's overwhelming to my eyes . I had a blue metallic 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 that drove me crazy too . Man it was just too blue but my buddy dropped the price to where I could just barely afford it in 2006 . Damn did I spend money after a couple years just to have it my work truck . Many memories in the mountains fishing camping etc . Now I have a 2015 Ram that I got brand new with most bells and whistles you could have at the time . Burgundy with grey trim , moi bonita . Shit I just thought of the cheapest way to change the look of it , I have so many bumper stickers and other cool stickers from years of buying storage lockers that I could just put stickers all over it .... then again that might look way worse .

If you are questioning if this bike is to much for you. Do not go with the AiM ECU! The bottom end hit with the AiM ECU is very similar to the hit on the 450r MX bike. The Athena Get ECU is far more linear and manageable!
