Step by step tutorial how to replace the driver's side, rear door lock actuator on a 2005 Honda CRV. This is for the Great Britain model, but the Japan model should be similiar. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below and I will do my best to answer them.

Jeff, thank you so much for the very helpful video. I have 3 actuators to replace and so far I did get the tailgate actuator installed. Next will be the rear passenger side. It took me a few weeks to find the actuators and receive them in the mail. Since then I forgot how to install the white plastic piece on the rear door and your explanation was very helpful.The passenger side and the tailgate actuators are the same part on my 2002 Honda CRV 4WD EX. The driver side actuators are opposite. Thanks again for taking the time to to make the this video.

JM Arent, I also ended up replacing 3 actuators. It must be a fairly common problem in the older CRV's.

I’m having issues finding where the actuator tab connects to on the trunk. I put it back in but since it’s so deep inside I can’t see what it attaches to.

We made the mistake of not rolling down the window and it didn't seem to affect our ability to remove the actuator. We hope that we don't any problems when we go to reconnect everything

Anyone know what size screws we need. The tiny screw got lost during the extraction.

The lock on front driver side does not work for 10 yrs. Which Honda website can you look up the part # ?

I’m not aware of a Honda website, but if you just google door lock actuator for your make and model and year, it should come up. If you are still unsure I’ll look it up for you. Just give me your year, make, and model, and which door it’s for.

I just changed the drivers side door on a 2003 CRV. However, I stripped the bottom screw in the door jam I got the top 2, i ended up making the hole in the door much larger to fit the screw again therefore I have it secured with 2 top screws only. I didn’t have a green tab or connector on my actuator. Additionally, I broke so many of the clips and the spot where the clips go into on the door panel. Any idea on how to fix those broken clip spots on the panel itself?

@Sandeep Barot, I’m not aware of anyway to fix the door panel clips. You might be able to look for a used door panel on eBay or check your local junkyard.

I was able to remove the Actuator, only to discover that I recieved the incorrect part for the driver's side rear door. The tiny brass scew is so scary to handle.

Jeff, I don't of you still followup on your videos but I have a quick question. At about the 6:40 mark, you were manipulating the door latch rod. While I was replacing my windows motor, moving that door latch rod to get room caused it to pop free on the inside of the door. (Not the door handle side) I can't tell where it connects to to fix it. Can you help here? I have a 2004 Honda CR-V

MrVegas, I made this video a year and a half ago and sold it not long after. So it’s been awhile. But if I remember correctly, the door latch rod should connect to the actuator itself. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures or video of it. If this helps, it has to somehow connect to the door latch release where the door latches to the vehicle in the door jam.

@@DIYJeff Thanks Jeff. I looked for it today until I ran out of light. I'll get back in tomorrow if time and light permits and try again. It has to be in there somewhere, but I have not been able to find it.

You should have mentioned that it is not regular Phillips head, I accidentally rounded the screw.

Why do you have to lower the window on rear door? When doing driver’s door, window needs to be up.

I had same Q - I did it with the window up, assuming he mis-spoke, but looking at the video it looks like he did have it down at least at the beginning

☝🏿 We successfully replaced the door lock actuator on our 05 CR-V, that is responsible or opening/ locking door with the key fob. We saved ourselves the $200 to $300 if I would have had autobody do the same job. Yes. It took about a hour longer than expected because we dropped this one tiny #6 screw that so many auto parts stores didn't have in stock. But quitters never win and winners never quit.

@@DIYJeff great information. We had actually followed your video when replaced this same left-rear door actuator about a 14 months ago but we went with a cheaper generic one. We know that the Dorman products are much better. We get there items from Autozone. Thank you again.
