This episode 4 of the Honda Streetcub build series was mega drawn out. I filmed everyday for 10 days in my spare time. I finally accomplished the rear end set up! Sooo many small details. I am excited I finished it! Not to mention I had some major editing issues. This is the result of 8 hours of editing. Taking 2 hours of film and pressing it into 40 min. :-) I will post a lot of this parts in my Patreon page. If you own a Honda c70 or c90 cub / passport these series will guide you through the how to.

Man I've always like the look of hub style brakes, without a rotor and caliper it really cleans the wheels up.

Glad you took my advice and got the offset drive sprocket. Shame it didn't measure up to what would work for you. Hopefully it all balances out for you in the end. Keep up the good work!

Great build , proud owner of 2 Honda Street Cub's ( here in Greece is called C50 or Glx ) , looking forward to episode 5 .. I think it's easier to purchase an Kepspeed or what other wide front fork you can find.. Greeting from Greece and keep up the good work.. Next build Café racer ☕️ 🏍 ✅

I love the vintage builds... much cooler than the Chinese scooters or even the Ruckus. Some sort of cafe racer would be cool to see. I have a '83 Honda Urban Express. I would love to see what you could do with that. That might be a cool bike for you to pick up and do a series on.

Looks great. I was just in SE Asia for the last 3 months. Totally agree about the proliferation of these bikes. Also the small sub-200 cafe bikes look like a lot of fun. I wonder about the offset sprocket. When I built my rat cub C105T a few years ago, the case on the pit bike motor was wider. IIRC it might have been because the case has an extra gear. You might want to test fit that sucker asap. SCHWEEET!!!

Coming together so sweet. You mentioned maybe putting a Gom motor in. Any recommendations for an ultra reliable C70 big bore kit? 88 cc kit, perhaps? I was wondering if the newer larger piston would weigh the same as the original to keep balance. Any thoughts on insights would be very much appreciated. I've really enjoyed watching stuff on your channel recently, the Honda Metropolitan. Thank you

I hope it's not too late. The centre hole of the rear sprocket should be a nice fit to the hub, it's this that takes all the loading not the bolts, they are there only to hold the sprocket from falling off. Your set up means the DIY store bolts will shear pretty quick and cause untold damage to the bike, or worse.

Try a hydraulic jack to open the rear fender well. Don't sweat the chain till after you install the bigger engine. Chain needs 1/2 up and down. Play after run in. I am 66 and started building when I was 11 Puch moped then Harley Hummer 125 cc. I ran my own repair shop from 17 to 25 while in school and also worked for the local dealers at the same time doing critical work boring etc. Cheers OM from Texas. PS I also build accoustic stringed instruments mm

Looks like by attaching the hub to the swing arm you'll get braking under suspension compression. Hence why others sway the hub back to the frame with the long arm.

Making these comments as I watch, so they might not be all necessary... 11:56 I had forgotten about this detail, thank you for pointing this out. 24:25 the brake anchor rod is under tension when the brake is operated. 25:46 you can NOT have a bend in the operating rod, otherwise when you operate the brake, it will attempt to straighten the rod. 26:47 you should edge prep the material prior to welding. 28:20 What... why do you think Mr Honda had a long bar?

Yeah I am really digging the super cub build love your fab job on the handle bars and was looking at the new ones at the Honda dealer which are around $3,500.00 new but really around 5 g's to get them out of the store after taxes and build fee even know there together on the floor here in Florida. As far as another build I would love to see you do around a "2000" Honda Elite SR 2 stroke build cause they are sweeeeet! Or a 80's Honda Aero 80 build. JS Love the vintage stuff too Matt!!!

Nice build you got going on there . One thing concerns me so far , the clearance for the rear tire to the fender , first bump in the road and that tire could smash into the fender and lock the wheel up . You could of course have solid struts made so you keep the look you have now , or make a fresh cut in the fender . Try sitting on the bike and see how much the rear end drops , then check the tyre for clearance

just got to the end ,, your getting there well done ,,ps the chain is too tight .. in the middle of the chain you want aprox 20mm of up and down play ,, when you sit on the cub as it is now it will tighten up causing chain . sprocket , and output shaft bearing damage .

Good use of limited tooling. He who can n that. My 2c is that tiny bar for the rear hub. The angle looks wrong to me. It might not fail but I'd be running a geometry closer to the stock setup. Otherwise good work.

Not trying to be negative mate but I dont think you have given enough thought to clearances and alignment issues, there will always be some flex and movement in the swinging arm and the tire also flexes and swells , the suspension moves quite a bit, the chain slaps. Many issues to consider . As is I can see serious consequences.
