Just shows you how incredible these are. Mine is new. I purchased, full synthetic 5w30 year round. Stored inside at 70 degrees. Used 10 or so hours per week. Love it. Keep babying it. She will last

I found that exact same model sitting out for trash pickup after a hurricane in Florida. I took it home, cleaned it, changed oil, spark plug, a/c filter and did some minor repair. Works excellent now.

Real fun job. We love this kind of labor of love, and the Hondas are so bulletproof that you can almost always fix them on the cheap. Next time you tear those covers off it, tackle a valve adjustment. It's overdue and will then be ready for another several thousand hours! Hate pulling off the covers. Nice work and an enjoyable video.

Thank you sir. Been doing it for years, figured it out along time ago when I was taking stickers off my dirt bike and got the plastic a little to hot but it made that spot kinda shiny. Startes doing the whole bike lol. Although after you heat it a few times it gets a little brittle. Basically will break easier. But that was thinner plastic, so i doubt it will do much to this unless i did it 5 times or more. Thanks for the comment and thanks again for watching 👍😃

Firstly, you are a true inspiration and example for positive thinking… truth be told, at the start of the clip I thought “good luck Johnny, you ain’t gonna get that thing back to life”. Hat off to you sir. 🙌🏻 Also thank you very much for sharing the tip about the magic that a heat gun can work - this is totally new to me. 🙏

@@johnnysweekends I have a little Honda EU1000i that was a bit of a save for me, but not as drastic as yours with the EU2000i... My little EU1000i is a GREAT little asset that I got for $300 as well... I cleaned the case out a bit dirt and mud in it also and cleaned the carb, new oil (3 oil changes with about 15 minutes of running to get the old oil out really well), new plug and she purrs like a kitten!!

They are great gens especially if you can get a deal. The upfront price tags though pushes it out of the majority market. If they dropped the price a little i think the sales would increase alot.

Good job. My understanding is that 5 blinks are the maximum that you get, so if you get like, 4 blinks it does indeed has between 400 and 500 hours on it, but when it's blinking 5 times, just shows that has more than 500 hours. One that has 1000 hours, will still blink only 5 times.
@johnnysweekends
@johnnysweekends 2 жыл бұрын
Ahh nice I thought it was 6 blinks but yea maybe 5. Been a while since I read that book but that generator is also gone.

Is there a condition type generator that you think wount run no matter the work?
@johnnysweekends
@johnnysweekends Жыл бұрын
Well if you have all the parts to replace what ever is broken then you should be able to get whatever running. Now most times it’s electrical or carburetor problems but sometimes valve issues.

@gusthomas

@@johnnysweekends Well I was running it every month for ten or fifteen minutes, but the fuel sat in the the carb between runs and gummed it up. I know better now. I keep plenty of regular on hand if I had to run it for a few days straight.

@johnnysweekends
@johnnysweekends 3 жыл бұрын
Since it was a minimal video I did not at that time. And one thing I found after working on several different items over the years is a old saying holds true. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. This generator starts right up no problem and no smoke, no back fire and spark plug burns clean. So sometimes if things are running fine, no reason to mess with it.

The voltage on Honda's have always been high. Not sure why so high but they are, And dropping the idle wont change it plus its electrically controlled with a stepper motor.

Nice video. Using a heat gun makes the plastic looks nice but over time will make it brittle. Better off using back to black or Macguires trim restore to replenish it.
@johnnysweekends
@johnnysweekends 3 жыл бұрын
If you did it several times maybe plus you can warp it. But once wont hurt it and then yes a good plastic restorer or 303 and spray in thick and let soak.
