Honda Rebel 250 - First Start - Motorcycle Build
First start of the Honda Rebel 250, will it run? since purchasing the Rebel I have had no idea as to whether it would run or not. The previous owner had informed me that the owner before him had the engine running. Since that time however the bike has been sat in a garden open to the elements.
First few items that needed to be put in place, new spark plugs and HT cap install, use of a slave battery and I craft an auxiliary fuel tank from various bits and bobs. The question is! will it run?

Can anyone explain why the air box was full of grease or possible oil and water mix its baffled me. oh and clearly theres supposed to be an air filter in there.

No idea how that shit got in the airbox, and yeah, there's supposed to be a filter in there.

there's a breather tube that usually reflows the excessive gas back into the airbox.

Bike had a crank case breather attached to the air box. Oil spits out of it

@@luckyyou200 Reckon the previous owner has smeared grease around the box sealing because its confined to those areas.

@@dtaylo4517 editing. I also like when you do talking videos too. This was a nice deviation though.

@@jordandenmark8443 haha thank you, Ive been playing around with editing styles for last few weeks, I have found this style works particularly well when Im working on the builds. I wont be shying away from talking, will save that element for instructional vids. Thanks for your input greatly appreciated :)

Awesome, nothing beats that first time! Oil or fuel in the filter could be a number of things, warn rings, badly adjusted valves etc or it could simply be grease that somebody has used to try a seal a leaking air box, same goes for the water could simply be that it's been outside in the rain or hosed down prior to purchase. What the plan style wise with this build?

The majority of the grease is around the edge of the air box lid so you might be right about someone trying to seal it. This is going to be a bobber build, always wanted to do a bobber and the Rebel suits the style perfectly. I think anyway lol

How do you wire a new ignition switch to the bikes harness

If its new ignition switch it should just plug into the existing loom via connector, if you're wiring a aftermarket switch you're going to need to look at a wiring diagram and use a multimeter.
