Good video. Honda really needs to get it higher in the front. Interesting to note that the HPD Baja Ridgeline is chased by a stock Ridgeline support truck that has a 1.5” level kit, better tires and a front skid plate. I actually bought mine right during COVID after having made fun of them for years because the Tacoma TRD off-Road I was about to buy had $1,000 added on by the dealer. When I brought it up, they laughed in my face, so I walked next door and gave the Ridgeline a drive. It was great for my needs, as I don’t do hardcore off-roading and the space and comfort were huge. It is also a lot more capable than people give it credit for as you guys mentioned. With a payload of 1477 in my fully loaded trim, I’ve had 1400lbs of dirt in the back, I’ve towed cars, hauled large car parts and done everything pretty much every other midsize truck would be asked to do. I initially leased it because I thought it would be a disappointment. I just bought it off lease. P.S. I love the F-150, but I swear you have to sell a kidney to get a good one! A comparably loaded full size was up to 50% for equal features.

I've been in Agriculture for 30 years. I've driven just about every truck there is at one time or another. My last truck was an '18 Ram Longhorn and it was a beautiful truck. The project that I bought the truck for ended so I sold it off and was truckless for several months. So I started researching and test driving for the next truck. In the meantime fuel prices went up markedly and I had to sit down and be really honest with myself about how much truck I really needed. My days of hauling two full pallets of crop chem 70 miles to my customer's farm on the gravel the whole way are pretty much done. But I still wanted to haul plywood or drywall sheets flat in the bed. I never did use the low range 4X4 in that Ram for the 2 years I had it. It had a 5.7L hemi and a gas tank to match. I realized I needed something to haul small loads when I needed it, and maybe a trailer to haul a couple of motorcycles or a quad, and a bunch of gear if I was out scouting fields or hunting gophers on Southern Alberta's short-grass prairie. I didn't need a full sized truck. So I drove what was around and my youngest son and I (that's a total of near-600 pounds of testosterone-filled handsome manhood right there) got into a Ridgeline at the local Honda dealer and realized how much room we still had, well, that was a good start. The rest of the vehicle's features sealed the deal, especially the way it was thought out, and the trunk in the bed (I had the Rambox on my Ram and loved it). I was going to spend the vast majority of the time with this truck on a paved road or dirt/gravel roads so ride comfort became way more important than the 5 or so percent of time I'd be climbing a coulee with it. So I ordered myself a 2022 Black Edition and I pick it up today. My son was so impressed he traded off his hatchback Civic for a 2020 Black Edition we found at another dealer. He's been in love ever since. Trucks are a pretty subjective thing, and can be a very personal choice. i get why guys like the Tacos, the F-150s, and the Sierras. I loved my Longhorn - every time I got in it I thought to myself "Damn!...This is a nice truck!". And it did more than I needed it to do. But the Ridgeline Black Edition is easily it's match for comfort and luxury features. And every time I pull up to the pumps, I won't miss that extra hundred bucks it cost to fill it.

@@peter-gz9fj Yep! I've had the Ridgeline for a couple of months now and it has exceeded my expectations across the board. That transmission is so smooth you have to work to feel it shift. So much more comfortable to drive. I put a Peragon tonneau cover on it and it looks great! So much more to say but the short version is: go get one. You'll be waiting for it now with the chip shortage, but it'll be worth it!

I have an '18 RTL-E and love it. After driving 3 different 4-Runners for 20 years, this is my first pickup... I call it my Gentlemen's Truck. It does absolutely everything I need or want to do and supports my active outdoor lifestyle perfectly. Loading it up with kayaks & camping gear, or pulling my pontoon boat I never have to worry about power or capacity. I love the '22 front end and my upgrade but will probably wait until Honda does a complete re-design in a couple of years.

At the end of the video you outlined what two types of people that would buy the Ridgeline, I am both of them, LOL! I bought a 2022 RTL-E HPD package. Yep I am a Honda guy for 25 years, nope I don’t want a Ford or a Chevy, Honda made a truck for this guy! It’s an awesome truck for my needs. Thank you for the video!!

Great call out about the radar cruise. It was really jerky on my 2022 RTL-E, it works way better on my wife's base model 2017 rav4. The stereo is really good in the RTL-E though but that trim comes with an obvious price tag difference. Great video

It's a truck. I think it is time for us to move-on from the "Well, it doesn't have a sub frame, and a unibody can't be a truck." Look, if it has a bed, can carry & tow, it's a truck. I purchased the 2021 model (this exact color) with the RTL-E package (Yep, it's loaded), and kept my Dodge Ram 1500; if I need to carry a heaver load, or pull a heaver load, it's my go-to. But, if I can, I'll use my HPD every time. It is such a joy to drive - so comfortable, plenty of power, and it is the storage king. I even enjoy driving it in sport mode & using the shift paddles. And yes, it's a party truck; the trunk has a drain plug, so you can make it a cooler, it has an outlet in the side of the bed to run your drink mixer, and the entire bed is a stereo speaker.

Well I am a Honda guy. My first car was a 2001 civic when I was in high school, took a lot of punishment from me lol. When it was finally time to upgrade, I could have gotten a used Dodge Challenger or a used Mazda sport car (can’t remember the model), but I decided to buy a used 2011 civic instead because A.) had less miles on it B.) was cheaper and C.) it’s more reliable. Then I started working in construction, and that meant most of the times I would have to drive to and or park in unpaved gravel roads. And while my civic has endured the punishment I really do need to upgrade. Especially now that I have way more tools than when I started. I don’t want a gas guzzling RAM, nor do I want an unreliable Chevy/GMC, nor do I want an expensive Ford. I do like the F-150, but even the used ones with 100k miles are 35k dollars. Tacomas are quite nice but expensive too. So I went to look in the MID sized Trucks, the Ranger, Colorado, Maverick, Frontier and Ridgeline. I was leaning towards the Maverick at first because it’s cheaper, but I hear there’s problems with supply, and problems with the system, well you get what you pay for huh? So then I look at the Ridgeline, and it’s like, the truck I need. Honda knows me so well. Bit expensive too but hell, I know it’ll last me a long time with minimal problems. I know so because I see people talking about still driving their 08-12 Ridgelines who did their maintenance and had minimal problems. Plus the new design for the 3rd generation Ridgeline looks great! Just a 3” lift, add some running boards, some off-roading tires and BAM! Truck elitists won’t be able to ignore me then lol

I have my eye on the Ridgeline. When my ‘11 F150 taps out, The Ridgeline is probably I would go into. However… KIA is in the works of making a pickup truck. I’m curious about that one.

I have the 2021 setup. What I don't like is the crappy info-tainment centre ! It is junk, it's so slow to respond, the Garmin GPS is a lost cause for its display and this thing needs a larger, better built power amp in it. Oh and the soft on display buttons are another lost cause, please put in real function control buttons. How could Honda screw this up so badly in their only half decent pickup (truck). I think that the Ridgeline needs a much faster and higher level computer system that controls the main drive functions here to. Yikes !
