That brings back so many memories. I had a couple of Pans back in the 90’s . My wife and and I toured all all over Scotland and France on them. A great bike and I wish I could fine a good one now .

The ST1100 has an electric fan on the radiator, so overheating shouldn't be a problem. The alternators are prone to splitting due to corrosion and seizing up, so inspect carefully. I don't like powder coating because rust can creep in behind it and touching up scratches doesn't work well. I went from ST1100 to Kawasaki KLV 1000 to Silverwing 600, SH300, and now SH350. Trouble with knee and hips over the years has now limited me to the step-through, but the SH350 is light and fun with surprising performance. Oh, and my ST1100 had 134k miles on when I sold it.

I find the sh350 fun too. I will be riding it in Spain soon. As I'm taking it on a trailer behind my campervan, so may put up some vid of it in Spain. Ride safe my friend.

So dated now but still one of the greats. Rode mine today first time in months. Its my 4th 1100 and I had a few 1300s too. Think I actually prefer the 11 having come full circle on my opinion of both models. Mine is a 2000 bike and v low miles, rides lovely (when it goes out..... time and other bikes 🙄)

I've owned a 1300 too. I prefer the look of the 1300 but the 1100 rides better. My 1300 was one that weaved once over 70mph,did any of yours?
@GPR111

All of them displayed a very gently yawing at speed but it never felt dangerous, but I was never comfortable with going very fast and always aware not to press it, and that was with excellent correctly pressured tyres and screen fully down even with empty or indeed no topbox fitted. The 1100 is rock solid and never does anything like that. I still think the 13 are great bikes, they just have this unusual trait of moving around a bit when at speed....

I had toyed with the idea of getting a 1300 again but if its inherent in most I don't think I will bother.

Your windscreen is actually an aftermarket type, the original screen was fitted with two slots to allow air to pass into the void behind the screen.

Mine is called 'Sachi' after the wife of the late Mr. Honda... I picked up riding a little over a year ago after a very, very long absence. I love the looks of the ST1100, so I got myself one. Sachi is from 1990, so a very early one and she had done around 90.000 Miles. I bought a few other bikes: a VFR and a R1100 RS. They did not last long, I prefer Sachi. About a month ago I got a very low mileage almost mint XJ900S Diversion. And now I'm in doubts... the XJ engine is much nicer and the bike is a lot quicker. But... the Pan rides so easy...

I've had a xj900 too. Good bike, but I like the weather protection of the pan. I'm looking forward to taking the pan into France and Spain. Ride safe my friend.

It’s probably a little late now but regarding the rear brake pads, OEM Honda pads are the only ones that are the correct thickness, ALL none oem pads that I have found are half the required thickness and are also sold as front pads. Original pads are double the price but last three times longer so it’s a win win whilst also protecting your vulnerable rear pistons
@tonyevans2460
@tonyevans2460 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for that Gaz. I will keep an eye on the pads. I thought for the price I would just change them more often, never thought about it exposing more of the piston.
