Where have you been?! She's just awful. She can't act, and her face just doesn't...work. I hate her and I cringe whenever I see her cast in a film I think I might like otherwise. The Dark Knight Rises, for example. Her being cast as Catwoman gave me the first inkling that that film wasn't going to be very good.

Wonderland was always named Underland! Read the books from Lewis Caroll. Alice asked the creatures in what place she is and they replied: Underland. But Alice heard "wonderland." ~ *grab popcorn*

Carroll originally named the book "Alice's Adventures Underground" but his editor told him to change the title because it made it sound like a book about a child working in a mine. Maybe that's what you're thinking of? The name Wonderland only appears in the title of the book and the name Underland doesn't appear anywhere.

i see so many comments of people referring to the original disney alice animation as "boring" "ugly" "stupid" "silly" and it physically pains me as someone who grew up with that ow that's the problem with movie remakes, it makes the new generation either completely unaware or unappreciative of the original hand animated movie that came first

It didn't hit me until I re-watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Tickets were sent all over the world, yet the ones who won were: 2 from the US, 2 from England, and 1 from Germany(?). All of them white.

I love Screen Junkies and Honest Trailers but I feel they ran out of people to "bully" in this very episode; opting to bully her acting which I feel was more than okay for the role she was conveying.

Yeah. There's nothing wrong with Anne Hathaway. I probably wouldn't say she's my favorite actress, but objectively speaking, there are others who actually deserve the hate. i.e. Megan Fox. And like another user commented, she's great at being down to earth (on screen anyways), and comes off completely genuine.

Yeah I had no idea until I went to see Coraline because everyone was saying it was a Tim Burton movie("It must be Tim Burton because it was 'directed by the Nightmare Before Christmas Director'") and "Henry Selick" was all over it. Still awesome though!

I actually rather liked this movie. I thought doing a darker interpretation of it was creative, and, frankly, a good idea. Lewis Carrol is already weird enough that it lends it's self to artistic license.

I'm not going to act like Tim Burton is some godly entity who hits the cinematic bullseye every single time, but why is this the movie that everyone picks on so much? I think there are other movies of his that are much more deserving of criticism, such as Dark Shadows. I actually consider Alice in Wonderland as one of my top 20 favorite films of all time, and while I acknowledge that there were some flaws and awkward moments, I don't believe it warrants the unusual amount of hate and criticism that is constantly heaped on top of it. But then again, that is just my own opinion.

I agree, actually. Alice as a source material fits quite well for "darker & edgier" adaptations (I love American McGee's take on it). It could've been worse, like "Oz the Great and Powerful". And "Dark Shadows" were just dumb. [SPOILER] Chloe Moretz as a werewolf was pretty cool, though.[/SPOILER]

I am an artist and I loved the art in this movie. The characters were beautiful, and that CGI cheshire cat was mesmerizing.

Same! Disney's version was crappy. My mom's always made a point of saying she named me for the book, not the Disney movie. But we both really loved the Burton take on it. Alice was totally bad-ass, there were tons of references to Carroll's Alice books, and the costumes and creatures were fantastic (though I do wish they'd given the Jabberwock the look of the John Tenniel illustration... it was way creepier).

PaddySnuffles You have got to be kidding me... First of all, this movie IS a Disney production. Second, Disney's animated version of Alice in Wonderland was FAR MORE like the books itself. THIS version was a disappointment. And what references?? They basically crammed quotes and characters from the book into this movie, to the point that it didn't even make any sense anymore. I admit the CGI was great, but it was just eye-candy from there. I can go on and on about everything that was wrong with this movie. If you ask me, American McGee's Alice was better than this piece of... Oh I don't even know what to call it. How I wish I have never seen this movie. :|

Actualy, the Soviet Alice in Wonderland cartoon was the closest to the book, albeit the translated one, but that follows original one as long as wordplay isn't concerned. Its style is not beautiful, but certainly interesting, and voice acting is superb, give it a try. Also, Alice's attitudes- in Disney's version Alice is pretty much princess, in this movie she is badass, and the Soviet one was just an ordinary curious girl. That says a lot about what audiences have wanted to see- yet another beautiful musical, badass CGI dragon-slashing and Alice in Wonderland respectively.

Am I the only one who liked this movie, Charlie and the chocolate factory and basically all the new Burton films? I know they maybe are a little different from the source but thn again this is a Tim Burton movie.

Consider this; Do you spend money to see a movie before or after you watch it? It made money, that means people went and watched the movie not that they liked it. The movie had a lot going for it, Johnny Depp, a still bankable Tim Burton, it's one of the most popular books worldwide, etc... I'm sure there are people out there who loved it, but ticket sales don't mean anything. Dvd purchases are where you find out if the movie was liked

OK I know everyone is hating on this movie but it is legitimately my all-time favorite movie and I know I’m gonna get hate but like it’s just so good I think the casting is great and I do agree there’s way too many pale pasty white people but I love the storyline and I just love Alice in wonderland altogether so hate me all you want it’s still gonna be my favorite movie

+KZfaq LTD There's nothing wrong with CGI effects. The problem is that the industry has largely saw fit to exchange all the effort they once put into plot and narrative for CGI. So you get CGI-saturated films with shit story. CGI isn't the problem, abuse of it is.

Funny how this trailer was released to coincide with the release of Maleficent and makes no mention of the fact that this film started a really annoying trend of blockbusters based on fairy tales like Red Riding Hood, Mirror Mirror, Snow White and the Huntsman, Oz: The Great and Powerful and Jack the Giant Slayer,

The movie was actually well made. It looks beautiful in my opinion (especially the light and the environment) and i liked the characters. It was different from the normal "Alice in Wonderland" but you knew that. It didn't "destroy it". It's just different. Not a masterpiece but also not as bad as pictured in the video.
