I think the fact that no one notices all the boyfriends went missing is another commentary on marginalization. Sometimes on the news, they'll mention a young white girl go missing, or even a young child of any race. But, when was the last time a black man was mentioned as missing on the news? I'd like to be proven wrong, or if anyone has any data on this.

It's mentioned in the film when the TSA buddy goes to the cops, and they basically just shrug and say that the "missing" black men just went off and did something or moved somewhere.

I've seen it a few times, but the news and police do it if the family says something. Where I live, blacks are the majority or equal to white population. Here's a depressing incident: A girlfriend I had, who was black, stayed with her grandparents. The grandfather use would talk to himself and had mental issue. He just decided to leave so he started walking. I asked them where he went and they said, "don't know, he just left. He's a grown man, he can come back if he wants to." I've noticed many people wouldn't worry about men going missing even if their the same race, because they believe that they are least targeted by criminals.

This is absolutely a thing! It’s called missing white Woman syndrome. Media likes to cover the disappearance of “relatable,” pretty, middle class young white women while any person of color and men rarely get reported on when they go missing.

I think the thing that made this movie so scary is that the protagonist found himself in a situation that most of us would fall for if we had been in his position.

As an introvert, Get Out was terrifying on even more levels because meeting new people is awful, staying at a stranger’s house is worse, and being dragged to a party where you are forced to interact with people you have nothing in common with is pure nightmare fuel.

Okay. Right. THE FRUIT LOOPS. Did no-one get this? They are a glass full of "coloured" things that she ONE BY ONE consumes, then "washes down" with a white liquid. That scene is a metaphorical depiction of what she does in the movie. I worked that out in the cinema during the scene, because I was also thinking... who the hell eats cereal like tha..... OH I SEE WHAT YOU'RE DOING....

Before anyone comments about how the cereal scene symbolizes “colored people(fruit loops) are separated by the white people(milk)” Jordan Peele said it himself that the scene wasn’t meant to be that deep. It was just a weird habit of the character. I guess even directors that focus too much on subtext end up missing the obvious subtext they weren’t intentionally creating

This film's got everything, to my opinion, what i want to see in a horror film: a creative and original story that's well executed, fantastic suspension and tension, awesome acting, complex themes and metaphors and hidden details that you would notice the more and more times you watch it, and the best part: NO ONE WAS STUPID!! Yeah every character shown multiple signs of intelligence in the film one way or another and in the realistic ways possible.

It was a really eye-opening film for me. I really felt like I was able to feel Chris's emotions throughout the film. They made his character really come to life for me. Exceptional film. Thanks for taking the time to watch it. I think it's an important film culturally. Will be remembered for a long time.

Same! Really enjoyed it, all the subtle intricacies and symbols, great film. Hands down my favorite part was figuring out the groundskeeper was running because it was the Grandfather, who still couldn't get over losing to Jesse Owens.

There's an easy way to remember which one is Key and which one is Peele. Key is the one in the car at the beginning of White & Nerdy. And Peele is the other one in the car at the beginning of White & Nerdy.

some farfetched theory: if rose not wanting the cops to get Chris id to prevent paper trail (a ruse, pretend to be good) why cant we assume that the “racist” cop ask for chris’ id because black people are known to gone missing in the area, he wanted some paper trail (we assume that he is racist, while he is being helpful)? i mean, that is actually a logical, kinder explanation on why he asks Chris id despite him not being the driver. by assuming that the cop is profiling chris, does that makes the audience racist? considering the tone of the movie, its quite interesting. remember that the black cops actually laughing at Rod correct deduction. what if the white cop actually wanted to do the right thing?

I doubt if Peele meant it like that but it is definitely worth thinking like that too. I mean, the whole point of the movie is that racist people don't always come in shapes and sizes you expect them to so obviously the reverse also could be true- i.e. people whom you assume are racists (like a white cop) can actually be looking out for black people and not arresting them.
