My dad showed me the original when I was 8 or so and couldn't sleep or shower without crying for a couple days. I forced him to see this one and in the opening scene, I look over and he looked tramatized. Totally worth it.

If you've read the book, then this really is a very very very scary movie, despite the departures from the book. A truly excellent movie.

It’s not, though. It completely ripped apart most elements from the book. There are aspects that are true to the book (the Leper), and there are others that completely destroy the characters (Mikes parents being burned up crackheads instead of good parent farmers).

Just watched this movie finally this past Friday after I FINALLY finished that long as hell book. All I got to say about the movie is, I loved it. Truly a terrifying reinterpretation of the book, even though some of it deviate from the book, but then again a lot of adaptations are like that. Awesome trailer, glad to have finally watched it.

@@VolcanicUnicorn123 Stephen King did the same thing Lovecraft did years before, only with a different approach (and less racism). It seems all of King's stories are connected somehow... Mostly by the Dark Tower, that is. Meanwhile, the so-called Cthulhu mythos is based on all the Lovecraft (and some other authors) works that also have some connections between them. It's pretty cool to see the main character from Whisperer in the Dark get mentioned in At the Mountains of Madness, for example.

so the kids can't just "walk away" because of how Pennywise works. Read the books and it explains why he lures them alone. It's almost like hypnotism, they don't actually realize they are being separated...there's even a scene in the film that shows this, when Stanley gets separated in the sewers and the others don't even notice.

I think they shifted Ben into the "town researcher" role to flesh out his character more in the build up to Ben+Bev. Its also a way to get the background on Derry into the first film. Mike does not discover the truth about Derry until he is an adult.

Wrong. In the book Mike brings his father's photograph album to the Barrens to show his new friends that It shows up in many of the antique pictures, proving that It has been part of Derry for a long time. He showed interest in the subject of Derry's history from a young age.

Bill Skarsgård really nailed the role as Pennywise the Clown i don't think the haters understand that his version was sinister and monstrous portrayal of the character he brought something new to the table. At least he didn't try to be like Tim Curry which was also very good Pennywise.

So, I discussed that scene with my girlfriend. We both had different views on it. I thought the flaming clouds behind him were literally a portal of hell, with him dancing in front of it. I thought it was mention to confuse and frighten his victim. She thought it was something way different. She thought that because he needs to frighten the children to eat them, and so it's something he must do, rather than something he truly wants to do. Now, since the girl isn't afraid of him, he's at a loss. So the bizarre dance was his last effort. He is frustrated and simply grasping at straws to frighten the girl.

Wow, your girlfriend seemed to have a really interesting take on that. I never would have thought to look at it that way. My argument, however is that if that were the case then why keep going for those particular kids? If he simply does this as a way to survive then why not move on after his initial failures to someone easier for him to frighten and kill. As far as him being desperate though I totally agree. I think this is the first time he ever encountered someone who numbed themselves of the fear, and he's frustrated, but takes it as sort of a challenge

Commandant 4D44 he continually goes after them because they keep escaping or beating him. He gets angry and obsessed with those particular kids. It's why as adults he still targets them; he wants revenge and it turns into a vendetta. They made him feel scared for the first time

James Houston in the book they don’t beat It as kids until they face It in the sewer, they escape from It once each up until then, the reason It wants them dead as adults is because It’s scared of them which is why he try’s to get Henry to kill them. They've spoken of this many times on the other channel. They'd get sued if they showed any footage before the film hit the shelves.

Indeed. The make these clips under the "Fair Use Provisions" of copyright law. But they can only use footage that is available to the public (meaning it has been released to the home market).
