@@Reelix Dude no it wasnt it was smaller than in the movie fool. The one in the movie was 72 feet and the big one was 90 ft. Angel was the biggest meg in the whole book series and she was 75 ft. Nor does it ever "swallow blue whales whole" Have you actually read them?

The plot point of there being two Megalodons is actually from the book, though in the original book, the male Meg was killed in the Trench while the female Meg (who would eventually give birth to Angel) was the main shark throughout the rest of the book. Though in the book, the Meg was completely white, bio-luminescent, and only attacked during the nighttime until she was blinded and started attacking during the day.

"The Meg" was a running joke with my wife for years. She worked in a bookstore ages ago and when the book came out, apparently the author and the publishing company expected "The Meg" to be this HUGE mega-franchise like "Jurassic Park". They were marketing it as, "Jurassic Shark". Everyone was laughing at them, but everyone involved with them were taking it seriously and didn't notice the laughter. They were hammering down movie deals, comic book deals, and getting every offshoot deal that they could for, "The Meg" at the time. When the book arrived at my wife's book store, they set up this huge, gaudy, "JURRASSIC SHARK!!!" display and they had "The Meg!!!" beach towels, beach balls, water bottles, and all kinds of swag like it was some crazy celebration. We still have that stupid "The Meg" beach towel in our closet. They told the employees at the book store to each take copies for themselves so that they could read them and recommend them to customers. My wife reads books all the time anyway so she took a copy. I still remember her giggling her way through the book and telling me that it was one of the dumbest things she'd ever read. The book store had been shipped a metric TON of "The Meg" books with that stupid display because they assumed that it would be a "Meg-a" seller. No one was interested. They hardly sold any copies and ended up shipping all the books back. For years later, my wife would laugh at that beach towel that we have and tell me about the over the top stupidity of the book. Then... they made a movie. Oh... Hollywood....

Ok hate to be that nerd. Buuuut...*straightens glasses* The whole shark bumping into things is actually something real sharks do. It’s called a bump-and-bite attack (extremely creative there shark-ologists). Basically, the shark is bumping into its “prey” to test it. To see how big it is, if it’ll fight back, or if the shark can even eat it. Aaaand that’s your shark lesson of the day. Stay in school kids!

To be honest I had very low expectation of this movie (just there for Jason Statham 😉), but I ended up enjoying it a lot. Yes it is cheesy, but pretty entertaining. And the sound effect in Dolby cinema was great!
